Technique for recovering a Typhoon that won't fully boot

I have a Typhoon that keeps getting hung at the Windows Mobile splash screen. I tried doing a hard reset but that makes no difference.
I assume at this point the best solution is to do a bootloader recovery.

What is the best method to take a working Typhoon's OS install and back it up and then recover from that miniSD backup on the damaged Typhoon?
