I have found a new metal case for the i-mate Jasjar/XDA Exec.

http://pdaden.com/shop/catalog/product_17427_Aluminium_Case_for_Xda_Exec_MDA_Pro_ imate_JASJAR_Qtek_9000_SPV_M5000_Dopod_900_VPA_IV_ cat_256.html

I ordered one today, it will take 2 weeks before I receive it. This is going to be my 4th metal case I ordered from the same webstore. Though they're in HongKong, my past experiences always have been good.

I sent them email to ask the followings:
1. Does it have a transparant plastic on the PDA display?
2. Does it have a belt clip?

It seems to have a belt clip hole in the back, but the pics don't show the beltclip somehow and they did not mention it either.

I hope it has a plastic over the display. Make it easier to see who's calling without opening the case. Some ppl may like it without plastic so that they can use the PDA inside the case.

Regards,

Fredy

Got two different answers. Pdaden answered me that the metal case has a transparant plastics in the screen window and it comes with a belt clip.

Pdair answered me that it does not have the transparant plastic in the screen window. Btw, pdair sells it a few bucks more expensive, but they don't charge for shipping.

I'll find out when mine arrived. Or may be any of you got one already?

Like you guys, i've been patiently waiting for a good case, and while your search seems to be over with this metal case, mine will continue.

Currently I am using the Ipaq 6315's OEM "sh*tty-for-the-6315-but-good-for-the-Jasjar" pleather case. For my 6315, for the longest time I used the Famous Alumuninum Aftermarket case.
While that metal case was good in providing all around protection for the Ipaq when dropped (itls dings show), it also easily damaged the device....scratching it in time on the inside upon device insertion/removal for cradling etc. as the little bit of soft liner inside wore out to reveal the metal.
Plus the belt clip had a tendency to unscrew itself to the point now where it doesn't even screw back in to the threads. Plus the plastic cover fell off a long time ago.
So my case was from Innopocket, and I saw it being sold under various brand names, so I assume the similar manufacturing style for the JJ version.

One positive thing a metal case has taught me is to appreciate a case that provides encasement and all around protection Vs. the open sides of the Proporta pleather case, another one Ilm not sold on, while the book style design is coveted.

I'd like to see a case like the Heavy Duty Protection version Bellagio Designs has for the Ipaq 6315 which is in pleather, is cradle ready, and has no exposed surfaces when closed. Too much to ask for our $1000-ish device? Ild like to think not.

As a footnote, I've already mentioned my retrofit 6315 temporary case solution, and read somewhere of someone having a good retrofit result in the interim with an (OEM or Aftermarket) ipaq 5700(?) case.
If you've had luck with a good retrofit, I'm sure
a lot of us including myself would love to hear in detail about it while we wait on purchasing that perfect case, yet_to_be_made, for our beloved JasJar. :)
