Can we increase IR output for TV remote on Magician?

Hi all,
I just thought I would ask. One thing that keeps me from thinking this little beauty is the best damn PDA ever is that its IR is to weak to be a remote control. Is there anyway that the IR can be "turned up" via a reg hack or is it the IR hardware. Any one have any ideas? Also, does any one know that if I cut out the heavy dark plastic piece covering the IR and replaced it with a clear piece would it make the IR stronger?

Don't think that stuff would work. It's the hardware that's the problem.
Some guy did a "hardware hack", basically sticking a small lense over the IR, which extended the range. Damn ugly though!

I just buy a £8 multiremote :cry:
