Successfully created BigStorage for 1.13 English ROM

Thanks to the resources at this site.

I have just created the BigStorage for the WWE 1.13 ROM on my i-mate JAM.

I have kept my 1.13 radio ROM (instead of the shipped 1.12 radio ROM). So, my device information is as follows:

ROM version: 1.13.00 WWE
ROM date: 08/18/05
Radio version: 1.13.00
Protocol version: 1337.43
ExtROM version: blank

I did the exact same thing today! Nice to be able to pick and choose amongst the different parts of the ROM :)

Can you post a link where the 1.13 ROM is located? I just searched the ftp site and didn't find any.

I guess they are using the Dutch Rom (WWE base) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=31249).

Any change & different compare to 1.12 rom???

Yes, that's the ROM I used. Haven't noticed anything different yet, though. But the old 1.12 ran very well for me, so I didn't expect much to change anyway...

did you use your backup ??? how it fit in new 1.13.rom?

I used Sprite Backup under the 1.12 ROM and have no problem in restoring the files to work under 1.13 ROM.

You should of course first copy your original files in BigStorage to your SD card or PC.

The only new file in the Extended ROM seems to be Camera Wizard RC28 instead of RC22 that was shipped with some 1.12 ROMs.

Camera now becomes version 2.70 (build 21026), with both screen and menu in landscape display. The older build 20112 came with screen in landscape and the menu in portrait !

Album is now version 2.51 (build 20745).

I simply upgraded to 1.13 with the shipped ROM and used hex editor to search for 02 00 00 80 00 20 and replace with b8 01 - this is the best method to obtain BigStorage.

any chance to upload the 1.13 image to FTP? Couldn't update for a reason(as not able to find any 80 00 combo in the backup image:( strange....

I downloaded it from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=173721#173721. It's in the first post. I upgraded last night to ROM 1.13 with BigStorage but installed Radio 1.13 instead of the original. Havn't seen any major iimprovements yet but will let you guys know if i discover anything.

Can anybody upload to ftp the 1.13 magician ROM IMAGE (with big storage and preferably radio 1.13) FROM YOUR OWN DEVICE please?

As I cannot make a big storage myself on 1.13WWE for a reson I'd like to replace first 416bytes of your image with my header so it works for me.

Please do some more investigating, before using the ROM of someone else. Obviously you are doing something wrong, since it works for the rest of us. If you don't find out what that is, you may end up crashing your phone big time, using a customized ROM from another Magician.

I am trying to get BS too, but can't find the byte pattern (I am not using the character option). Does this mean the rom-dump is corrupt or what? I have the original 1.13 tmo Dutch rom on a Dutch tmo mda-compact. So far everything working OK, but now I'm stuck.

Update on this:

Tried with MKS method and now I'm down to 'screwed'. I flashed back the changed file and now the 'storage-folder' disappeared, exr-rom still there, so I lost 7MB of ram. Even the original upgrade and flashing back the extracted rom did not solve my problem.

Can someone pls upload a correct rom-file with ext-rom intact, so I can restore to the original situation?
