Is this possible, it turns off when you close it.

when mine is plugged in it seems to do this, so perhaps the power profiles are where you need to look.

No, nothing obvious. Maybe a tinker with the registery!

I don't think it turns off when you close the lid. I think it just turns the screen off. I think this because if you open/close the lid within the auto-power-off period (3 mins?) it comes on again instantly, but if you don't touch the screen or any keys for more than 3 mins it doesn't come on when you open the lid.

I think it's like a basic laptop - close the lid and the screen is off, but the machine remains powered on.

... but I could be wrong. :)

My theory kinda supports joebongo's suggestion: if mine is plugged into power then it never turns off, so you can always open the screen and get an 'instant on' effect. If it's on batteries then it turns off after 3 mins, so once you leave it alone longer than 3 mins it doesn't come on when you open the lid.

I presume you refer to: settings/system/power/advanced?
