WM 2005 1.6C using standard ringtones as found on the device takes ages to start rining.

This is so bad that I have missed several important calls. To test this I have phoned my cell from the landline and from the time I can hear the land line ring to the time the cell starts ringing takes 10 plus seconds.

This experiment was repeated with:
* the cell in the cradle
* the cell out of the cradle and ON
* the cell out of the cradle and OFF

And in every case the delay was too long.

Does any one know what could be the cause of this? Is it jus me or do other users have the same problem?

What is the location of our ringtone files? Default: \Windows\Rings or SD Card?
Have you tried using the default ringtone?
Do you have MS Voice Command installed?

I have tried using the default ringtone and yes I do have voice command installed.

Is there a speed issue with voice command?

I now have it down to 2 rings before it actually starts ringing. Achived this by moving files to the rings directory.

Weird though....

Are there any applications that is known for slowing down WM5 1.6c

Sorry if this isn't himalaya related but I found this problem on the O2 XDA Exec too, so I searched and found this thread. I missed several critical calls from potential employers (who all hide their numbers and didn't leave messages). Consequently I hard reset my xda and now have it running the bare minimum, just to receive calls on time! I had voice command on there before which was useful, but I'm not risking it again. I was using a standard ringtone before too.

voice command option to announce calls sort of slow down the call receive.
some today plug-ins (spb & bpp) displaying sd card memory status also slows down the device coming up from power off!

After performing a hard reset and not installing voice command or any other applications it seems to be behaving well.
