Until I get a proper car kit I'm trying to arrange a microphone/speaker system in my car for my Exec.
The Exec's 3.5mm headphone socket has all the connections I need to get audio out (to my car head unit) and receive a microphone feed in. The supplied Exec headset has a standard four-band 3.5mm jack plug.
Has anybody found a splitter with a 4-band jack plug that provides a stereo 3.5mm socket (audio out) plus a mono 3.5mm socket (mic in) that will connect to the Exec and give me the connectivity I seek?
Since the headphone socket is in parallel to the USB socket and the antenna extension sockets along the back of the Exec, I'm hoping that someone somewhere is making a car cradle with all these connections built in... :D Slide the Exec into the holder in laptop mode and instantly get power, audio out, audio in, antenna and GPS connectivity in one simple cradle.
Well... I can dream...

:D That is exactly what I'm looking for. If someone can tell me where I can get hold of one in the UK I'd be very happy.
Thanks for the translation Mart.

No - no luck yet, but then I've done bugger all about finding one. I'm pretty sure it's not available on the High Street in the UK.
I'm also not in a hurry until I know which car kit I'll be using and whether it's got a headphone/mic connection.
Let me know if you have any luck though. :)
I'd like to find an adapter that allows me to run audio out to my car speakers but NOT disable the microphone on the JasJar. When I plug in a regular 3.5mm audio cable it disables the JasJar microphone. Does this type of cable exist?
If not, what hands-free microphone solutions are people using with the type of adapter shown above?

I'm looking for the same solution. It seems odd that a regular 3.5mm cable disables the mic - surely only a 3.5mm cable with mic input should do that?

I never know this, I always think the designer of the Uni should be smart enough to design it in such a way so that even though we use a normal headphone, the internal mic still works.
My old XDA does that exactly though it has 2.5mm headphone port. Whenever I use a normal plug (not the custom one), the mic is still working.

I've found another site that offers audio adapters including the one above (in fact I think this is probably where the MDA Pro site gets their adapters from):
http://pc-mobile.net/audioadapter.htm
I emailed them about the adapters and whether any of them would keep the internal mic enabled on an XDA Exec, however they have not tested any of them with any HTC Universal yet.
If anyone's tried any of these, please let us know.
