View Full Version : Can't Install Software on XDA IIs

I'm posting this on behalf of a friend.

He's got an XDA IIs with no mods/upgrades done, and has Activesync installed (whichever version cam with the device). When connected he can sync and browse the device but can't install any software. Every time the install program tries to communicate with the device a window appears (tall thin window) then disappears immediately with no error.

This happens with everything he tries to install. We've tried removing and re-instaling activesync but it's made no difference.

Does anyone have any ideas what it could be?

Cheers,
Matt

Have you tried creating a new partnership with the device through activesync and hardresetting the device?

Does re-installing Activesync not create a new partnership anyway?

I think he's a bit dubious about hard-resetting it, but I'll mention it.

Could it be anything else?

I have this problem too. MDA III with imate 1.40rom and 1.12 radio. Reinstalled activesync and even reflashed rom but the add/remove window just flashes on screen for a second then disappears. I hope someone here knows how to fix this. I'ts been driving me nuts!

What about installing the programs by putting the *.cab files directly onto the BA and running them there?

Most installers will install the cabs to the Microsoft Activesync/App name, or Program Files/App Name folder if there is no PDA connected - ready to try installing next time! Just copy them and put them on manually.
Or you could try Universal Extractor to open the *.exe's and get to the cabs.

Not a solution, as such, I know but, it at least gets your apps onto the BA in question until you find the solution!!
