Hello all,
I would like to introduce a software which using CTRL/ALT key on your Universal.
Here is a link to download.
http://1942.rocketspace.net/PQz/PQz20051119_0015.zip
Espcially, It has been designed for Japanese.(IME Atok)
(I'm not sure it works or not in other languages.)
Thanks.

Tom's other 2 posts are innocuous enough, and started over a month ago, so it doesn't look like someone who registered just to post a trojan.
Tom, can you tell us if you've tried this, how it works, and where we can find a URL that lends it some cred?
Here's what I could find that might help (Jap translated page). Looks like a competition to write such a proggie:

Woohoo! I found a few more Jap/Chinese pages, and developed a level of comfort that this was a competition, and that the app exists and does what Tom suggests. It's AWESOME! :D U get a little icon on the title bar (would like to get rid of this some time), and it changes to show ctrl and alt mode. You can set different keyboard keys to be ctrl and alt, and when u press them u can now move backwards and forwards 1-word at a time and all the other things u would expect.
Nice going Tom - sorry to have been so circumspect. We would love for you to tell us more about what those darned clever Japanese dudes are doing for the Universal.
PS: For n00bies, put this exe file in your \windows\startup folder. Right-click icon for settings. Set ctrl to be your WIN key, and Alt to be your SYM key and you're a-for-away! Uuh, on second thoughts, I've no idea what the alt key does for me, so until I figure that out I'll keep my sym key as is
PPS: Sorry VJ - you were beaten to it! No worries tho, you can focus on some of the other stuff we're all dying to see...

Hi francorg,
>In the setup page:

You might be using single byte charactor like English if you don't use IME.
We japanese have to convert from single byte charactor(alphabet) to Japanese. (Chinese/Koria are same)
Alphabet <----(IME OFF/ON)---->Japanese
The settings are used for Japanese Input.
If you don't use IME. You can choose IME [none][N O].
that the best way to you.
thank you.

Great software! Thank you for that.
To make it perfect in my eyes, it would be great, if it would work as well, as long as you keep the key pressed. I would need it to jump word by word keeping the ctrl-key pressed and moving by hitting the arrow-keys. Would that be possible?

I agree - this is how I would want it to work.
I haven't tried this software yet but I want to. Can anybody answer this question please? The user guide didn't seem to give me the answer:
Can I program the software to give me <FN> + <SHIFT> = <CTRL> ?
I.e. can I hold down FN and SHIFT to get the Ctrl function? Is that a combination of keys that's supported in the dropdown selectors? I don't want to lose an existing key to get the Ctrl function if I can avoid it. :)
And yes, I want everything! :P

This won't solve your particular problem, but I offer this as an alternative to the Copy-Paste process without using the stylus:
- Select your text with <Shift> and cursor keys
- Press <FN> + <Space> and you should get a pop-up context menu containing the Copy/Cut options
- Use the up/down cursor arrows to choose the option and then <Enter>
- Move to other text location and repeat process to Paste
Ctrl will only be useful for me in navigating the text to be selected, by jumping a word at a time. Everything else I can already achieve with the keyboard. :) It's not as quick as Ctrl + c/v/x but it works flawlessly.

I've got a bit of a way around this, to permit relatively normal copy and paste with c v x z etc. How does it work now?

I'm not using the latest version yet, but is it just me or does this not allow alt+tab to switch between programs? I can do this using my Bluetooth keyboard, it brings up a little menu showing a horizontal list of icons of active programs you can choose from. If it is not enabled at this time, is there a chance this functionality could be added?
Thanks,

Tom PQz is excellent! I'm testing a Jasjar for sysadmin at my company and the difficulty in typing CTRL-C was proving a big drawback. But, that might be in the past. Thanks. :)
Here are my two suggestions:
1. Could you make it an option for the CTRL or ALT key to work one-time - i.e. so that CTRL or ALT mode goes off after typing just one character? I would find it more natural then to hold my 'CTRL' key and hit C or D etc. Alternatively, can you make it so that the CTRL or ALT mode is on only while the key is held down?
2. the vertical bar '|' or pipe character is pretty vital to us Unix users, yet it's hard to get at normally. Can you make it an option to configure a spare Fn key (e.g. Fn+Q) to map to the pipe character?

Is this the icon in the Start bar? (At the top.)
If so, a simple white would look nicely integrated with the OS connectivity icons. :)
Still waiting to try this app. I'm hoping that one day it will do:
- FN+Shift = Ctrl
- SYM+TAB = task switching
Can the OS handle more than two button presses? Will it register three buttons simultaneously?

Hi SiliconS,
>Is this the icon in the Start bar? (At the top.)
>If so, a simple white would look nicely integrated with the OS connectivity icons.
First, I started to develop this app for Japanese users.
The icon show the mean Green => IME on(Input Japanese mode)
Gray => IME off.
but, It has no meaning to single byte users(like English).
Maybe most of English people dosen't need to change the color.
So, I will change the function next version.
*)The color dosen't change any more If you choose the option IME none.
(Maybe default color is connectivity icons like.)
*)You can use your own ICON(BMP file).

Well i have at least two ways:
- The first is you handle your self the caps key!! I know you can do this because your program is able to map it to another function ;)
- The second is by using (GetKeyState(20) AND 1)>0; I toke this from .NET Framework, so it will surely work! I think that CAPS raises the WM_KEYDOWN, so you can check there if the CAPS changed :)
nhhhhhhh, I like green. but OK I will change it. :D

Hello jiashiuan
Wow I'm really happy to hear from you.
Ofcourse, The ICON color change will be kept in the future.
It will depend on the IME Option
IME none -> Color won't be change any more.(Keep IME ON color)
IME others -> Color will be change. (IME ON/OFF toggle color)
so, I have a question about Chinese IME.
Option IME (YES/NO)
Does it work? Shift+LEFT / Shift+RIGHT / Shift+DOWN
when "Forecast candidate" appears.

Tom,
We don't have "forcast" function in CHT (Chinese Traditional) IME .
It's sad. We can only type Chinese Characters one by one. So your
Option IME function is not available in CHT Dopod 900. What a pity.
For example, I am using "phonetic Imput method" for Chinese input.
it uses special symbols to express the pronunciation. These symbols
is only used in Taiwan. After input the symbols, we have to choose
the desire character manually, than input another character, and so on..

one request and one problem:
1. May I upload and introduce your PQz to a website in Taiwan?

It's one of the biggest website talking about PDA and mobile devices
in Taiwan. I wish to write an introduce of your PQz in Chinese.
Some pictures and text in your website would be used, if you allowed

2. I use Pocket Music Bundle 4.0.2 to play MP3 files. After running PQz,

It looks like PQz hook the hardware keys before PocketMusic.

I love your app, which make my universal very happy. I just would like to know if you could add an option to make the icon disapear? I don't really need to see the state of the key, and it doesn't integrate well if you use programs like wisabr advance that skin the task bar. Maybe you could add it as an option, or make the icon disapear after lauch and just reappear when it has something to display for a few seconds?

First, sorry, I should have read the webpage more closely.
Second, now that I have the dimensions, I have experimented with some images and have come up with a 'passable' skin. Before I do any more, I have a question? (and forgive me if I presume too much...)
Is is possible to resize your program to a window either 32X32 because of the large amount of premade icons in that size or 32X52 for the Wisbar people?
I know this is possibly asking quite a bit, but in the long run I think it could service people better. I would even be willing to take a stab at resizing the icons to 32x32 (or 32x52 with WM5 blue bars on top and bottom to make the icon look like it is 32x32).
Third, is it possible to detach the image from the .exe to reduce the file size for people who want to use other images. This is not that big of a deal since your program is so small, but every bit helps.
Just some ideas... Thanks for creating such a wonderful and useful program.

HI Boinger
I think that I can add new function for resize 32x32 => 20x20 or 28x28 like.
but, PQz's image format is BMP and the BMP file contains 224(28 x 8 ) width x 28 height pixels.
Resize function
256(32 x 8 ) x 32 -> 224(28x8 ) x 28
Maybe I should make another program for PQz.
the new program will do below
1) Select 8 ICON files
2) Convert 1 BMP format
3) Save
Boinger
3rd December 2005, 02:03 PM
Hi tom_hiro255,
The resizing is not the issue, per se. I can resize the icons without much issue. The problem comes down to icons that are part of skins. When I resize an icon that is part of a skin, it shifts the shading and makes it not look like a natural part of the skin. So then, I would have to blend the resized icon back into the background. At 32(x8)x32, this is no longer an issue (and once again, there would be no need for resizing for many icons).
Here is a copy of a new 32(x8)x32 template, for illustration of what I originally meant.
Once again, I acknowledge that changing the size is a big deal and if you are not interested, please let me know now.
tom_hiro255
3rd December 2005, 05:43 PM
Hi Boinger
I am a bit confused.
The issue will be solved if PQz is changed the ICON size 32x32?
I have a idea the icon size.
1) Load BMP file
2) Get width pixels size.
3) (width / 8) = ICON size (calculate ICON size automatically)
for example
width 256( 32x8 ) / 8 = 32 pix
width 224( 28x8 ) / 8 = 28 pix
4) Show ICON.
How do you think it?

To end with the icon placment advice, after the hiding option, or the sound option, maybe I can add that on the universal, a tray icon would be perfect, as we are already using this space for the battery and rotation icon. So their would be no waste of space, and the small screen estate of the task bar would be retained a bit more.
Anyway, your program is a great contribution to the universal, and it should be flashed in roms by operators

Sorry for the small off topic post, but Boinger, please could you tell me how you placed those icons in Pocket Plus?
I searched the forums but nothing important came up. I know that Pocket Plus comes with its own set of icons... but all I want is to put my Icons from WAD in SPB Pocket plus...
I would really appreciate any feedback.
As for the pQz program it's excellent but I have a problem changing the skin (the bmp file)...
I want something like this:
http://www.gpspassion.com/upload/clavier.bmp but I save it in my Universal, load it from the program and it comes up... distorted... any help?

Hi Mythozz,
First off, I don't use Pocket Plus. I use iLauncher by SBSH which can found at http://www.sbsh.net/products/ilauncher/. I love this program because it is easy to use custom icons (and the resident memory footprint is MUCH smaller :D ). The icons were created by mikesjo and can be found at the SBSH forum.
As for the issue with distortion, this is because you are trying to use a QVGA file for your your VGA device. I hope DocteurN does not mind, but I resized his Clavier QVGA up to VGA for you Mythozz. I tried this new image on mine and it worked well.

Yes this is normal : this icon is for a QVGA screen not a VGA like on your Universal.
If I find a capture of WM5.0 keyboard icon I'll make the same compatible for VGA screen if you want

Thank you both for the prompt answers. Yes you're right I confused it with Pocket Plus. Yep, I changed it, and now using iLauncher which is more flexible in the way it uses the icons. Thank you again Boinger.
@DocteurN: As for the pQz problem yes I thought of it just after making my first post here :p
I would be very much oblidged if you could make a VGA version for your skin. It's simple and combines with the embedeed WM menu. :)
Thanx again ;)

Fn+Q) to map to the pipe character?
first of all, great work!!! :-)
the question :) ....when can we expect the above features? especially the first one...which i guess is something which many of them would need!
thanks,

My god!!! Your implementation of Task Manager is very well done, I'm so thrilled that you added that! Also props on the code tab that lets you customize even more CTL or ALT shortcuts (my fav is the much needed end/home function).
The only problem I had was that I couldn't figure out how to activate the Symbol Window, the check box is checked on the Ext tab, but if I'm in a note and hit Ctrl SPC (space?) nothing happens. Shouldn't it pop up with a window showing optional symbols?

Hello Tom,
I could define the CTRL + arrow action to HOME or END with the previous version, using the arrow code key. Now I don't have anymore the choice, as you predefined the alphanumeric caracter. Is it possible for you to add some more key to the selection (25,26,27,28)? Arrow would be a good choice. Or maybe You can add a user selectable input?
Thanks

Very nice, it's great to get access to those symbols without having to pull up the onscreen keyboard.
Would it be possible to slightly change the behavior of stopping a task in the task manager so it doesn't immediately exit the task manager? That way if you want to kill multiple running programs you don't need to keep opening the task manager to stop each one.
Also, if this is to remain freeware, where can we donate some funds to the developer?

I agree with the above poster, nice work, nice guy, big heart. The constant updates, incorporating feature requests very quickly, is a great service to this community.
I really love the latest changes to the app - being able to continue to close other apps once you bring up the task manager (or select multiple symbols in the symbol app) and the ability to map app close and close all to key combos really makes me happy. The close all works very well, it doesn't seem to kill the phone app (which is good) and it doesn't kill the today screen softkeys like GSPocket Magic's close all does.
This app may sound simple, but to me it adds a lot of functionality that is missing from Windows Mobile. It has really bugged me to have to take my thumbs off the huge keyboard on the JasJar just to do something simple. This app is quickly changing that. Ever since I switched from the Hiptop to PPC I've missed the Hiptop's excellent keyboard integration, thank you for fixing this.
The next feature I'd LOVE to see (I think you might have mentioned it already) is the ability to launch apps by key combos, like Ctrl+1 through 0 to launch or switch to apps mapped to those buttons.
Again, if this is to remain freeware where can we donate to the developer?

Hi!
Thank you for quickly response!
I am Vietnamese so that the Vietnamese Keyboard is very important for me. For my JJ I am using a software that allow me typing Vietnamese charactors by the QWERTY keyboard.
To do that, the software monitor the key typing, etc: When you type "o" single time, you have "o" charactor, but when you type it double time, you can have a Vietnamese charactor....
So, when i use your app, my Vietnamese Keyboard app can not start.
And if I Launch your app when Vietnamese keyboard is running, it said that "keyboard hooks is fail"
My English is not well so I hope that you understand me!

In the future, You can see new option.
so, You can choose apps for not seeing on the Task list.

Just add the App to the list on the new option dialog.

How about this....
when you have the task switcher active, you currently have the following option -
1. You can kill one task, or continue killing other tasks by pressing a button...
Can you add these -
2. You can highlight a task and press "H" which will add the program to the "hidden list" so that it wont list that in the task switched next time...
3. When you go into the settings page, it should list all the hidden programs, and you should be able to delete it from the list....
btw, great job tom...you're definitely *noble* :)

Hi DocteurN

Maybe I should delete this option. Its not important.
That is for Task Manager. It effects Hide ICONs OFF(or ON) after Execute PQz.
same like 'H' key on Task Manager.
e.g)
1)Check ON then Exit and Exec PQz.
2)CTRL+TAB (Task Manager)
3)Task name bar is normal color (GRAY) on Task Manager.(bottom of the window)
4)You can see Icons + 'H'.
1)Check ON then Exit and Exec PQz.
2)CTRL+TAB (Task Manager)
3)Task name bar is normal color (BLUE) on Task Manager.(bottom of the window)
4)You CAN'T see Icons + 'H'.

a. assign "Sym" button for control
b. select (new to be added)option use control key to cycle states
now, when I press "sym" once, it presses control...press "sym" again, it changest it to "alt"..press it back once again, both are switched off (neither control nor alt)....this way, I can loose just one button, and have both control and alt functionality!

you can do this already by assigning the same key (in your case 'sym') to both the CTRL and ALT button in the first setup tab (key).
And if you don't check the box titled Use CTRL + ALt the program cycles through CTRL - ALT -NONE, if you check it it cycles through CTRL - ALT - CTRL&ALT -NONE

Just a few thoughts, I might be using it incorrectly though;
When I press H to hide something in the Task Manager it displays a little H symbol on it. But when I reopen the Task Manager the task is still displayed, I thought it was supposed to physically hide the task? In task manager press "M" to toggle the hiding of the apps you assigned hide to.

I'm using PQz with great pleasure, but since the last version 023 my CTRL key (SYM) seems to act as "sticky". When I use SYM-E (CTRL-E) to start excel (and pressing both SYM and E simulaniously) the CTRL indicator says ON and I have to press SYM again to switch if off.
Both USE CTRL+ALT and KEEP CTRL/ALT ON setting are unchecked. If I use the WIN key as CTRL key it seems to work just fine.
Anyone a clue?

I thought that you were supposed to release the SYM key before pressing the control key, rather than pressing them at the same time.
Tom
How do I configure PQz so it does not output an <ESCAPE> character before the control code, as some of my old DOS software don't like the <ESCAPE> character. For example I have configured <SYM> as control key, when I press <SYM> E it outputs ASCI codes <27> <5>.
Thanks for a great product, I can now run some of my old DOS programs, getting rid of <27> will also enable me to edit them.

Tom,
first of all thanks for this magnific application. It's really a killer application for me.
But I have a problem: I assigned ctrl to the Menu2 key in the key-tab. Afterwards using the Button-tab I assigned a program to the hold-menu2 key.
This makes that I can't use the ctrl anymore. Pressing the menu2 key just uses the program defined events for this key.

Hey Tom, it is great to see that PQz is getting better and better. Congrate to your wonderful effort! One wish I always have is to have a "shift" key on the right hand-side of the keyboard in addition to the left hand-side one to make Cap input easier. Wonder if it is possible to use PQz to map the "sym" key as "Shift"? Thanks!

I think that you assigned CTRL(SYM)+E -> ESCAPE in the Code-tab.
then, it does not output ESCAPE<27/0x1B> when press <SYM> E ?

Hi
I uploaded a new PQz ver 0.0.24
http://www.nicque.com/PQz
*) changed INI files saving.
- after using 'C' or 'H' on Task Manager.
- after closing Option window.
Don't need to exit PQz anymore after changing settings.
*) CTRL/ALT/IME work with Button option.
e.g)
assign CTRL to the MENU1 in the Key-tab.
then, assign a program to the MENU1 Hold key.
Now, It works both. :D

Hi Tom_Hiro,
In the CTRL/ALT-TAB task switcher, would it be possible for PQz to automatically assign 0-9 A-Z to all the running tasks. So for example, to switch to a particular application that's already running you can press CTRL-TAB then press 6.
This allows us to avoid having to tab through the entire list. Would be awesome to have this ;)

tom, any support for hiding the icon even in landscape mode??
its too intrusive and sometimes overlaps on other notifications...I guess I can live without seeing it!
how about doing this instead....
1. change the icon of PQz to match the top left start menu icon (the MS window logo on the top left)
2. change the position of the icon to extreme left, so that it blends completely!
anybody????

It is not difficult. I will write a few codes to add the function.

I have to consider this idea. because clicking on the PQz icon already has another action for Japanese. (IME on/off)
but It is ok if choose a IME option => NONE.

Hi Tom
Not sure I understand your explanation, I have configured Code tab as attached, codes for Ctrl E & H work correctly, all the others such as CTRL B say ELLEGAL ESCAPE SEQUENCE as receiving <Escape> <CTRL B>
Having problem attaching file, colums are:-
Col 1 Col 2 Col 3
CTRL E END
CTRL H HOME
CTRL B none
Also would it be possible to include 'INSERT' in the list of possible escape sequences as this toggles between Insert & overwrite mode in some applications.

Having read about PQz.exe in forum.xda-developers.com, I have - of course - tried to install this excellent program. But when I click at PQz.exe at my desktop, I get the message that "PQz.exe is not a valid Win32 application". As a next step, I copied the file to the Windows folder on my Jasjar. Clicking on the PQz.exe file in File explorer, the PQz symbol appears at the top of the screen, but nothing more happens.
What should I do???

yeah, i'd agree with that. I absolutely love this app, but this is a bit extreme for me, sorry!
would be interesting to have an alternate OK button, so we can choose whether we want to close or minimise an app.... so I can minimise my media player cos I want to leave it playing, but close MS Word cos I know i've finished working on a do, for example
i've reverted back to the last version before this in the meantime.... which, by the way, is very cool that I can do this - I like that you continue to host the previous versions

Hey tom, great program!
Im wondering if it would be possible to do this:
The keyboard has the buttons 1-0 and - and = like a normal full size keyboard, but to use the special keys ! and @ and # etc. you need to press the FN key instead of the SHIFT key. Would it be possible to change this so that you press the shift key to get the keys ! @ # etc? Also, would it then be possible to remap the FN+1, FN+2, etc keys to F1, F2, function keys on a regular keyboard?
The function keys are really helpful for using older applications through terminal that require them. (i.e. many old programs use F10 to bring down the menu)
Anyway, thanks!

Hi RyanZA
In fact, Shift key does not have any effect on 1-0 - = keys.
When push Shift+1 key, it's same as just push 1 key.
but, Fn+1 is put Shift+1 out.... hmmmm strange....
push 1 only:
DOWN 0x31 (1)
UP 0x31
push Shift+1:
DOWN 0x31
UP 0x31
push Fn+1:
DOWN 0x10 (Shift)
DOWN 0x31
UP 0x31
UP 0x10
I'm afraid that it's not possible I think...
but, I upload new version.

so, PQz is growing up... that is a problem.
I know the reason why.. PQz includes lots of icon files now.
In fact, ICON BMP total size is 82KB. (half size of PQz.exe 164KB) :<

It was only a idea. Perhaps growing up more a more is doing it more but less functional. PQz is my only one program in my today. No need pluggings and this runs my Qtek 9000 very fast. I don´t want too much options if the size of PQz is becoming my PDA more slow.
Good job again
Could you explain me what is IMEI (only for japanese users i understood)
tom_hiro255
10th February 2006, 04:51 AM
IME is for Japanese (Chinese, Korian or else).
We need to convert from Alphabet to Japanese (Like Chinese charactor).
so, You just set IME option "none" and "NO" if you only use Alphabet.

Hey Tom!!!!!!
This is the BEST feature ever added so far in pqz!!!!
I just love this feature soooooooooooo much that I can't live without pqz anymore! I virtually have an infinite number of speed dials.........that's so damn coool!
Thanks tom, for this wonderful app!
another couple suggestions....
1. Could you extend the option "Disable dial except today" to both Today and the Phone application?
In other words, I want my telephone shortcuts to work when my phone application is active, and of course, the today screen as well...
2. Alternatively, when the phone application is active, if you press letters on the keyboard, it does nothing currently. Can you simulate pressing the corresponding number instead when I press an alphabet? For example, when I type "san", it should send out "726", so that the intelli dial would pick up the numbers and list out names...
Thanks again soooooo very much!

Another suggestion...
When I hit control+space for my symbols window, could you extra functionality there to have another set of custom defined text inserts? You should be able to switch between symbols and this new addon by pressing TAB. The custom messages are text strings for quickly inserting things while typing...
for example, I could have smileys, signatures and other common messages, that I can quickly type into with a simple key press...
Thanks,
San

Tom, the functionality you keep adding is fantastic! Thank you again for all of your hard work, this is a great contribution to the community.
One question: In a previous version I was able to set up a ctrl+key combo to move cursor to end or beginning of a line (or beginning or end of a web page). I can't find this option in the latest version and the key code I had used (Ctrl+S and Ctrl+D) no longer work. Is this option still in PQz?
Also, I am running latest version on the JasJar with no problem.

I just found a bug in pqz...
If the clipboard is empty (for example during a fresh boot) and you try to start pqz, it loads and immediately quits.
So every time I soft reset, it doesn't autostart successfully...
I have to first copy some text into the clipboard, and then start pqz to launch it successfully.
Thanks,

hello Tom,
your program is fantastic! however i think i've found a little bug: when 'Use CTRL + ALT' is checked i think the program should allow specifying key combinations with 'CTRL + ALT' as well. instead it only offers 'CTRL', 'ALT' or 'none' in the comboboxes. 'CTRL + ALT' should be added when the option is checked.

However, theres a bug with multi-line support...

Hi,
PQz is realy a cool tool but I would like to have one addition (or maybe it is allready possible?).
If you have a look at this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=41060) thread. There is a nice little program which maps the softkeys if you keep them pressed for a long time.
tap soft key = orginal soft key functions
tap and hold left soft key = start menu
tap and hold right soft key = close/ok button
I would realy like to have this functionality in addition to PQz because that way i could easily bind the win key to ctrl and would have it's functionalitiy on holding the left softkey.
Problem right now is that the SmartSoftKey program seems to emulate a Win button press when i hold the left soft key. So if i set WIN to ctrl PQz catches the long holding of the soft key as CTRL.
So to make it short it would be realy nice to have the softkey functionality integrated into PQz. (if it's allready in the somehow I appologise and would be thankfull for an explanation how to make it work)
Edit:
Ok I think I found it in on the "Buttons" page but if the "---" symbols mean the Softkeys it doesn't seem to work when I put a program in there.

Hi Tom!
Thank you very much for your great utility, it works very well!!! Although I still have some very simple problems that I cannot solve myself.
I simply can't find a way to remap some hardware keys on my german MDA PRO.
Since my nationality is hungarian, and not german, I've got 8 hungarian letters that are not present on my keyboard: á,é,ü,ű,ö,ő,í,ú
And there is one letter on the german keyboard that we don't use in hungary (ß). I'd be quite satisfied if I could remap two of the keys (as shown on the attached picture):
1. I'd like to use letter 'ö' (with sym 'ő') instead of 'ß'
2. I'd like to use letter 'ü' (with sym 'ű') instead of Message button.
Is there any way to do it, via registry key, or via PQz, or via another smart utility? Or maybe there is a file somewhere in the file system, which determines the keyboard layout, and the desired letters can be simply overwritten?
Plz Help! :(

Hi HoPe
First of all, you need to know the 2 buttons key codes.
Please download PQz_CHECK from PQz web site.
http://www.nicque.com/PQz
1) Exit PQz first
2) Launch PQz_CHECK.exe
3) push the buttons which you need to check.
you can see the code.
e.g) ENTER key
DOWN 0x0D OFF
UP 0x0D OFF
also, you need to know the char codes ('ö' 'ü')
sorry, I have no idea about those char('ö' 'ü') codes.
e.g) 'A' key = 0x41
now, you are ready to use. Option > Code tab > ADD
none, 0x0D, none, 0x41
(if you push ENTER key=> 'A' output)
so, I think Universal does not output any key code if push MAIL and WEB(Message) buttons.
anyway, you can try those step.

hi TcT>
You can try AppClose.
http://d.hatena.ne.jp/KOTETU/00000104/p5
AppClose has many parameters
e.g)
(none) Close
/A, -A Close ALL
/W, -W Start Menu
You can assign to PQz Button tab this Application and parameter
tap soft key = orginal soft key functions
tap and hold left soft key = AppClose.exe /W (start menu)
tap and hold right soft key = AppClose.exe (none) close/ok button
tap and hold right soft key = AppClose.exe /A close/ok button (Close ALL)

@tom_hiro255:
the AppClose.exe is a good suggestion but it seems to do the same thing so it just sends the WIN key keycode which is of course intercepted by PQz when I bind CTRL to that key.
Also on my Wizard binds to hold on the softkeys don't seem to work. Tap works fine but hold doesn't seem to have an effect.

Thanks Tom! Now I understand how "code" tab works. Are the codes against the ASCII table or UNICODE table?
ASCII codes:
http://www.lookuptables.com/
UNICODE codes:
http://free.prohosting.com/~vitivas/js/UniCode/CharTab.html
I did everithing as you said.
When I press 'ß', PQz_CHECK shows the following code: 0xEA (decimal: 234)
'ö' is code 0x94 in the ASCII table, so I write in the 'code' tab:
none,0xEA,none,0x94
But when I press the 'ß' button, nothing happens. Although when I write in 'code' tab:
none,0xEA,none,0x41
it works, it shows an 'a' instead of 'ß'
Where should I look up for the character codes?
ZeBoxx
18th February 2006, 08:18 PM
Try the code 0xf6 instead. That is the code for ' ö ' in Windows. 0x94 is ' ” '.
