Has anyone managed to get the XDA Exec to work with a Three sim card.
Looking to use a three card for e-mail and internet, but not sure if it is possible?

Did you have to change any settings to get e-mail and internet working?

Obviously you need to add a connection for 3.

You'd also need that internet browsing pack from 3 to beable to surf outside of the crap 3 site / get emails.

Whats this about an internet browsing pack????

Does this mean that they will completely drop the walled garden, let you go anywhere? What are there data charged like?

Hi

Answered my own question :-) 512MB data pack add-on is £45/mnth. So not cheap then!! Given 3's superior 3G coverage, they have the capability to cleanup on the geek market. But they'll need to do better than min £65/month (min voice+data add-on) to do this, and they'll need to start flogging some decent hardware also!

They dont offer data packages other than the £45/512MB one. I would hope to see a little competition in the UK as things progress such as we get closer to the flat-rate data that those over the pond enjoy!

TBH I just use my 3 sim for calls (I've got it on 3000 off peak x-net before they pulled it!)

I have a T-Mobile sim on web 'n' walk that I use for data, as I get 40mb included with that.

3's data prices to see abit ott if u ask me, but still.

Three acually do 2 different data packages. They are as follows:

£2.50 for 5MB: This allows visiting to selected websites what have been approved by three. You cannot however, use the phone as a modem for a laptop. Not very practical as its still not full access to the net.

£45 a month for 512MB: This allows you to use 512MB of data each month as a modem. You cannot however access sites on your handset with this, only via a laptop with the phone being used as a modem.

Hope that clears everything up. This isnt very practical TBH, but the XDA exec works fine on three, as its shipped unlocked.

That strange 3 site thing don't like the IE browser on the JASJAR either!

It loads up as aload of code!

The 3 music bit kind of works, and if you try to go anywhere normal on the net it moans about needing a internet bundle!

To be honest my main reason was cheap calls and access to pop3 email retreval on the move,
Will this work with a standard phone tariff from 3 ??

It will, but to enable you to access anything outside of 3's little "world" they love so much (IE your email) you'd need to purchase a web browsing package from 3.

This is what happens if you try to make use of the 3 connection.

OK I've now got a Three Payg SIM card to try out.
I have 3g coverage as indicated by U symbol.
Anyone know the details on how to set up a connection for Three, no details with the card and cannot find any details elsewhere (Search)
Tks

OK, I have my Exec set up fine with the 3UK network. The only problem I have is that with my old 6680, it obviously had a 3 ROM on it that was set to roam back to 3's netowrk when available. On the Exec, I notice that once it roams over to O2's 2.5G netowrk, it doesn't roll back. I've even set the network selection to Manual and told it only to use the 3 netowrk form the list of networks available.

It will roll back fine if I click the FIND NETWORK button in teh phone settings, but just wondered if anyone had managed to get it to stay on 3?

Thanks.
