Apache + MTTY - Cal Checksum Crash... d2s crashes!

after happily dumping, hacking, cooking and flashing roms of various devices over the years (most recently the BA)

Im trying to dump my Apache rom to mini-sd and its not working..
the device just comes up with "cal checksum"

is this due to bootloader version? or what?

any help would be great.

it also crashes when I try and calculate the Checksum.

or if I try and unlock flashrom

sometimes a reboot helps! :)
