Dear all,

This is my first post so wanted to start with an easy one!

I'm about to get an MDA Vario on T-Mobile UK and want to flash the ROM to the english K-Jam extended version. Is this possible and if so, what ROM should I be using to flash with...:

KJAM_WWE_ROM_1010903_104_10110_cdl_wwe_ship.exe

or

K-JAM_WWE_1010903_106_10110_ship.exe

Just wanted to gauge your opinions!

Cheers,

Oli

Personally I'd not bother. I have just unlocked mine and use it with Orange, T-Mobile and plan to use it with travelling on business. You don't have stuff like antivirus to slow your phone down on T-mobile and you can delete some of the customisation from the extended rom with the Extended Rom 'revealer' prog, I now have an extra 10MB storage using this.

No doubt the Orange version of the Wizard will be Jam packed with junk and I'd certainly consider flashing that if I had one.

Hi Monkeyphoenix...

Hope you dont mind me asking, but I was hoping to shrink my Varios extended rom and was wondering what files you removed and if it made a difference to performance etc?

Many thanks,

Thats all I did then moved the files in there, about 2.7mb worth to a storage card and got rid from the actual extendedROM on phone leaving 10mb. I don't know the long term possible ill effects of doing this though, I just went ahead and did it. I don't know how to shrink it or combine it with the other storage. I just have a 10mb extra space now. Side effects of it are stuff like mail attachments and camera images which were set to save to storage card, now save to this ExtendedROM and you can't put them on the card. Which does not matter much to me.

The only other way I know to make space is hard/soft reset and install apps of choice, although I'm not sure what they do and I installed most of mine, save a few T-Mobile customisation ones. Unlike Orange and I-Mate there isn't much crap on there. You can't get rid of T-Mob boot screen or today screen they are not in the place they are on 2003SE.

What I am basically saying is I just tried to pick up info from posts here, and what info I could not find out, I just took the chance. As far as running quicker goes, its feeling a little quicker after I cleaned it up of files I did not need ranging from not installing all ExtendedROM apps to removing stuff like MMS templates which aren't that big. Its a bit sluggish compared to the Magician I recently sold on fleabay.

Cheers for the headsup, already used the prog to unlock the ext rom and was just wondering if any of the junk could be safely removed then hard reset so its never installed... such as the tmobile theme, keypad theme etc...

I also noticed that when ext rom is enabled you cant save to mem card, tad annoying, but in my opinion the ext rom unlocker is for customising the installation procedure then hard reset and ext rom hiddden again? pls corrent me if i'm wrong...
