My storage card also became storage card2. I noticed that after a soft reset a new folder had been created on the device called storage card and the actual storage card was being designated storage card2. If you delete the new folder and remove and reinsert your card then it reverts to being storage card. Unfortunately it reverts to storage card2 after every soft reboot.
If you hide the extended rom, delete the storage card folder on the device and then soft reboot, your storage card should be OK again.
It seems to me that the storage card folder is being created on the device in order to create a folder for my email attachments - I store them on the card. If there are other people who have unhidden their extended rom but don't have the storage card2 problem, it may be because thay don't have their attachments set to be on the card.

BTW why do you need to run the new cab file? Why not just remove the original unlocking cab file? That worked for me.

I see what you are saying but mine did something different. I had Mail attachments and camera photos set to save to the mini sd. When I un-hid the extendedROM it moved them to it and the ExtendedROM is a folder and third option if you want to install anything from scratch, and its called ExtendedROM2.
Now without changing any settings, when I take a pic or have a mail attachment it puts them in the ExtendedROM2 section, and it doesnt give you the option to change it. For instance, in camera - options - general - save to : I can choose, main memory or extendedrom2, no memory card option. :?

Thanks for this tip baldboy! After removing some software (Vito Sound Explorer), my storage card2 (my SD card) totally vanished. After your tip I now have my SD card back and am able to save from camera to it again. My Extende ROm is hidden again, but with total commander I can view it when I want. If I want to change it, I just have to unlock it, edit it and then lock it again. Thanks for your help!
Now all I have to do is get the extensions on my SD card right again. edit: did that with Badschwii's myextensions.exe.

Hello!
Will applications which I installed on the ExtROM (after unhiding and deleting the CABs) still work after hiding the ExtROM again??

yes, all apps in EXT ROm that you leave there will work after hiding, deleted apps will off course still be deleted.

Sorry, I am speaking englis not so good.
Extended ROM must be cleared from your data and all utility working to hide Ext ROM.
If I try set IE temp /Storage Card/Temp - I am not able to HIDE extended ROM !!!!
After move temp to original location all works O.K.
