Anybody else having this problem ? I'm on o2 with a XDA Exec (arrived today)

My signal levels are great, but if Ii try to get mail or browse the webb, 80% of the time it will fail, wont find the site.

Anybody else having this problem ? I'm in the middle of manchester, signal is good .. could I have a defective Exec ?

I get errors like

"Dialed: mobile.o2.co.uk, cannot connect for an unknown reason, check connection settings"

I did check them, and everything seems ok, I hard rebooted and try it on all 3 settings (basic,, corporate, etc ..) .. same problem.

cheers

now, if the connetion shows as "G" (GPRS ?, and not U (3G ?) it works fine (but slow) .. does one have to cal O2 and ask for anythign to be done for 3G to work ?

am I the only one to have problems like these ? I hope so .. becuase i am going to send it to a replacement, I cant imagine it's the service that it's this bad

- it will fail to load websites most of the time
- if checking e-mail every 5 minutes, one in 5 or 6 checks will be able to connect to the mailserver, the others it wont find mailservers
- it will get stuck sometimes on send email (for not finding server mid way of sending)
- it will get stuck sometimes on checking mail

I get the message

Unable to connect to the incoming mail server. Verify that the name server is correct, then try again to send and receive mail

but then 10 minutes later it will work fine

same if I am loading a site, sometimes it will say "Connecting ..." and stay like that for 2-3 minutes and just hang until it gives a "cannot find site" error.

then it will work fine for a whole hour !!.

it's intermittent when it works or it doesn't, and I have a strong signal (I'm right in the middle of Manchester), did try it on two locations (home and work) same results.

I called O2 and we hard reset the device into all modes, the problem persists

I also find that it failes less times if I am moving with the device, if the device is stable on a table (with a good signal) it fails allto more
