View Full Version : Today status line - how to remove

Hi
I've been looking hard with no success.
How to remove the status line from the Today screen in Qtek 9100/WM5.0. It shows WiFi and Battery status - which I don't need here - while taking the precious space...
Any idea?
Help please!

Sorry to post again here but I can't believe that there is nobody suffering from this and that there is nobody who has solved the issue until now.
There are so many Today screen plug-ins that show the information, not to mention the information is useless here - I believe.
Please let me know if it's me being a mega-geek finding ways to make something better or the answer is so simple that nobody bothers to post.

if it is that important to you - here's your solution: remove Init_Tray.lnk from "\windows\start up", restart and you are done.
did i help you? then recommend me :-)

Thats not what makes the tray. That program adds the Wifi and battery bar. You have to take out any program that uses the tray. If a program uses the tray , then the tray is automatically created.

isn't that exactly what the guy has there? why do you jump in here? if you have any other problem than kristo_ch feel free to ask....

simple if you know it. i always erase anything in start up in the first trials. trouble here was that i haven't got it back when i wanted it back :-)

Perhaps the self proclaimed "guru" is jealous he didn't know the answer :) (although it's not a complete solution, as some apps like PI will bring it back, but it's a start - thanks lutz!).

I don't get what's going on. Why aren't people playing nice?
The Tray can be made to not be present, by removing all tray-able apps.
However, the tray can be programmatically brute force hidden if required, even if full of apps.

Is that something you've written, V?

Hell yeah!
Working on putting it into usable form for you guys, not quite finished yet:

This is hiding the tray and minimising the soft keys down to 2 pixels at the bottom. For those who like it tidy.
I'll optionally minimise the start bar to 2 pixels as well.

Is this already released??

topcaser: No not yet... I'm working on it between lots of other things, but it needs to be compatible with WM5 and WM2003 and they both require very different techniques. WM5 version is done though, but not released:

Hey VJ,
I too want a battery which I can charge beyond 100%!!! ;-)
I would have to adjust the e_stat app to show it though....
vijay555

yeah, 255% battery is cool. You can see into the future. it's cold though, -5 degrees C :)

How do you get 100%. If I read the batstat I get a percentage.
And where did you get the temperature from?
Bye,
Thijs.
vijay555
3rd January 2006, 11:46 AM
Doezel: temperature is built into the battery, from the battery api.
I don't understand the "100%" battery.
The 255% is coming just from the emulator having fits!

VJ:
I get it. I use evc4, and use getbatterylifepercent, which returns a value between 0 and 100. It's not a byte.
Which IDE do you use?
vijay555
3rd January 2006, 12:28 PM
Doezel: VS2005. The 255 is just an error value I think, not a byte. The emulator doesn't return a valid value for battery or temperature of course.

VJ: okay, now I get it.
Trying vs2005 now aswell...

VJ, are you anywhere near close to releasing it as I would like to create a bigger today screen, remove the quicklaunch bar (or alternatively add to it and make it functional rather than just battery and wifi), and minimise the soft keys as I dont use these at all.

That bit you can already do with one of his utilities; http://www.vijay555.com/index.php?Releases:VJTrayLaunch

simon_darley: I reckon it'll still take about a week to get it finished, subject to work. But I'm very busy at the office, working till 10pm every night this week, so it's hard getting any coding done as well :(
I hate to say it, but it'll have to be done when it's done...
ZeBoxx is right about VJTrayLaunch, but remember only to use it for one or two apps max. More than that and I'd suggest you use PHM TrayLaunch (you're probably better using that anyway!)

Sorry to hear you are having to work hard this week. Remember to include Mrs Vijay555 in your list of priorities - these people can wait for their WM2005 apps!

:) Tell me about it! Mrs Vijay555 is surprisingly good natured about me programming all night. I have a routine, 30 mins of Call of Duty, then programming something useful, then programming flights of fancy! But I'm only sleeping <5hrs a night, and she complains it'll kill me, but that didn't stop Roy Batty (http://www.brmovie.com/Analysis/Batty_analysis.htm)...

Vijay I think you need to be careful. I realise that you are able to function on small amounts of sleep, but <5 hours per night is a recipe for disaster, especially at your age! (which is you know, is my age too)
Mrs Melty does NOT like me staying up all night programming and I find it impossible to get up for work if I have been programming until 2am. I am going to make a huge effort to sort my life out to make time for all the fun stuff I want to do.
Apologies to everybody reading this who is not remotely interested in the life of Melty. Maybe I should have written this in a PM...

I was thinking the other day, have any of you seen that program, Dead Man's Switch (http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,23183,00.asp)?
If I ever stop posting for any prolonged period, I'm dead, have been kidnapped by aliens, or Mrs Vijay555 found my collection of "art magazines" :)
Yep, I thought 5 hours was bad too, but either I'm getting used to it, or those hallucinations might be worth worrying about
Melty, PM me, how's your program coming on?
To drag this back on topic, I'll be working on this app next guys, so hopefully some updates very shortly.

New Universal user here (but long-time WM2k3 user) - what a waste of screen real estate the bottom bar is in WM5...
Looking forward to an update on progress, vijay555!
Great site - cheers for all the fixes and improvements
