Can someone post a link to the latest uk alpine rom update. I have had a look on other posts but alot of the links don't seam to work.

All the Alpine folders and files seem to have been deleted, as well as other files and no-one seems to know why........

Any answers anyone?????

Have decided to have ago at creating my own ROM.
Have put together the radio 1.04 from the Sonofon update with the ROM from O2 which seams to work.
But i now i what to get rid of all the crap o2 put on the ROM.
So can someone give me an idea of what each CAB file does so i'll now if I what to delete or not.

Here the list of CAB and what are they, so you can decided want to remove or not. This list i take from PUG's post on this forum, so all credit goes to him :

EXEC:\Extended_ROM\TPDisable.exe
Disables the touch screen - if you are customising your rom, DELETE THIS. If the cab files you add are "not designed for this version and may not display correctly", it will halt the install process of all other files and you will need to soft reset your 2i to continue, without being able to install any other cabs onto your 2i. - I deleted it

O2 wap information. - I deleted it

CAB: \Extended_ROM\BackpackDriver.sa.CAB
Driver for the backpack accessory that allows attachment of vga monitor etc. - I deleted it

CAB: \Extended_ROM\Caller_ID_Alpine_Generic_WWE_RC16.CA B
Caller I’D program. - I deleted it

CAB: \Extended_ROM\CV2.41.386_wwe.CAB
Clearvue PPT and acrobat reader. - I deleted it

CAB: \Extended_ROM\Delete_shortcut.sa.CAB
Deletes shortcut to loadvdisk in the startup folder. - I deleted it

CAB: \Extended_ROM\SmartDialing_Alpine_Generic_WWE_RC13 .CAB
Smart dialling and sms autofill from contacts, where you type the first few letters of someones name.

CAB: \Extended_ROM\PhonePad_Alpine_Generic_WWE_RC11.CAB
Adds the nokia phonepad style input device for single handed operation. - I deleted it

CAB: \Extended_ROM\CAB-TaoJava-10.1.4.127-Alpine-O2Music-ENU-01Apr05-MMP1051-v101.CAB
Installs Java music stuff. - I deleted it

CAB: \Extended_ROM\O2UK_removeACCEPT_12212004.CAB
MMS program and templates. - I deleted it

CAB: \Extended_ROM\VideoMMSB22.sa.CAB
Video MMS addin. - I deleted it

CAB: \Extended_ROM\O2UK_PIE_homepage.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\O2UK_Regional_TimeZone.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\O2UK_RingTone.sa.CAB
O2 shite......DELETE IT. - I deleted it

CAB: \Extended_ROM\Patch_Camera_9650.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Patch_Eraphone.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Patch_Update_SIM_Mgr_2.2.1.0.sa.CAB
Leave these, they are not essential but make things work better.

CAB: \Extended_ROM\Alpine_SMS05272005.sa.CAB
SMS program.

CAB: \Extended_ROM\PressKey.sa.CAB
Can be deleted. Some phone setting. - I deleted it

CAB: \Extended_ROM\wap.CAB
O2 wap settings. - I deleted it

CAB: \Extended_ROM\Certificate.CAB
Can be deleted - an O2 root certificate thing. - I deleted it

CAB: \Extended_ROM\version.CAB
Sets the Extended rom version in device info.

CAB: \Extended_ROM\IPV4_132.sa.CAB
Wap push settings - I deleted it.

EXEC:\Extended_ROM\TPEnable.exe
DELETE THIS AND TPDISABLE. Enables the touch screen. Very important if TPDisable has been fired! - I deleted it

CAB: \Extended_ROM\v36024_install.ARM.CAB
I have removed this since I do not want the O2 settings installed. If you remove this then you should bear in mind that the device will not soft reset at the end of the install ("RST: Reset" can achieve this though). You should also bear in mind that the connection settings will almost certainly need sorting out if this line is omitted. - I deleted it

I'm interested in what exactly this does. I have a THB Carkit and the one thing that is bugging me is that when using my MobileNavigator 5.1 (by navigon.com) the directions are only spoken through the device speakers not through the car radio ones. Maybe this file will help?

Anyway, would be great if someone could send me this file, as it is not part of the german extended_rom I have.

OMG OMG - it does exactly what I was hoping for !! I now get the voice giving me directions over the cars speakers instead of the XDA speaker!

It even works with playing MP3 files on the XDA IIi , though the quality is like mono, not really useable.
