All right... GOOD NEWS story for today!!!

There is no doubt, that our gods are helping us...
Here's what happened to me yesterday.

Yesterday I was dreaming about editing the ROM of Universal/Exec but as you may know, 'd2s' command doesn't work. It just quits with "Not allow operation".

But suddenly, my china god of wisdom whispered to me:
GOD: "hey buzz, you wanna dump the thing? why do you use that old fashioned 'd2s' command to dump it?"
me: "well, that always worked... so what else should i use?"
GOD: "OK, here's a little present for you :o) just try 'task 32' :o)) "

CMD3 for SD, it's OK, ready to get RCA from response.

SD:Detected one card

SD:ready for transfer OK

The above story is 100% true, i've made up maybe two words myself...

BTW, this might also work on other "password protected" devices.

But now that bal666 has that decrypt/encrypt utility of the original NBK files, what would be the benefit of dumping the ROM to the SD card?

Can you restore back to the device from the SD card?

Going by the way of the SD card to dump, extract, modify, write back, then flash may be safer than the Upgrade Utility that keeps my device stuck in Bootloader mode until I go through the whole NK/MS, then Radio upgrade.

So, what's the opposite of 'task 32?'

i'm dumping at the moment, but i would say, that it would be enough to insert the SD card back into the slot and reboot into bootloader mode.
Then you have to wait few seconds till "press power to flash" message appears.
But so far i didn't test it, yet...

Buzz, it is really good news. At this moment some of Universal (e.g. T-mobile) providers have not released an update yet. So if people can dump their roms on a SD, we at least have a fall back. In case of repairs the Universal will need to be updated again with a rom from the provider.

Hmm. What part of the DoC ? All 128 MB ?
There is also OTP and other stuff.
As you can guess, i'd like to dump the whole 64MB RAM (or as much as possible) while the bootloader is running, not
in wince.

He stated that as long as you don't change the header information, it will encrypt and decrypt properly.

As a precaution, I took the NK.NBF, decrypted it to NK.FAT, then reencrypted it and did a successful byte-comparison.

I did the same with my modified NK.FAT file with my injected custom splash image and it encrypted and decrypted properly.

The biggest test was flashing it, and man, I was sweating buckets during the process. But, the flash came through successful for me and now I have the first custom splash screen on the Universal. ;)

It's fun to break news or be the first guinea pig to try it out, just as long as it comes out successful! :lol:

The password doesn't seem do do anything.

The level of access is determined by your CID.

If your CID is 11111111 you have a SuperCID, which enables all the operations. I'm trying to track down where the CID is stored.

My 9000 has a SuperCID. I managed to dump and flash the rom using these techniques.

OK, so here is, how it should be:

Dump Bootloader:

If you want to have them all on single SD card, you must add "sd a" at the end of each command except the first one.
Example to dump/backup OS + XtendedROM + Radio:

ok i figured out so much... i get the mtty up and running with the unversal in bootloader mode connected to pc with usb and Activesync disabled
but when i enter the commands for dumping rom (as mentioned here in the posts) nothing happenns the mtty moves to the next line giving USB> command and nothing is happening on the universal screen either

but here is an absolutely different result the apear to me .
before you post this rom, i have tried it myself. every step follows your instructions in "[Universal] - Decode and Encode NK.nbf" .
but when i have flashed the rom , the Dopod 900 stay deadly on the bootloader screen ... grrr... ohno...
after that , i got here again and found your new post, then, i downloaded the rom that you made for me ( of cource, an X'mas present for anybody else who encounters this problem, god bless you! :) ).
i try to find the different between the one you made and the one i done.
with my bare eye , i found what you give me lack some files. such as radio_.nbf , etc ..
but what will be the true reason that cause my Dopod 900 the reject me from entering the CE.... pls do me a favor again!...

In fact, cause my dopod900 deadly stayed at the bootload and can't enter the OS is the way that after the dopod900 being flashed ...use my own ROM i made.
but as i has posted above....i have flashed my dopod900 use your ROM (that only NK.nbf exist),....and it does stayed deadly at the BOOTLOAD state ever...

Do i need to delete the radio.nb and m_.nbf in my own ROM and flash onto my deadly dopod900 again?

You said the 'ms' and 'radio' needed to be deleted before flashing with the modified CHT ROM provided by you. That means, there is no way to flash a new Universal with CHT OS and Extend ROM once together? Because those regional settings contained in Extend ROM are really needed.

I try to my O2 Exec , no problem for me , it very nice to runing,try to delete nk.nbf and post buzz's nk.nbf and run again or rar buzz's CHT rom into text rom folder , try flush again to see what happen

There might be something wrong on the ROM file header which buzz made for you.
Do you try to flash the modified CHT ROM to a JasJar? If yes, perhaps the CHT ROM needs to be further retified for your JasJar even though it is fine for buzz's JasJar. Ask for buzz's advice.

i just have another dopod900 with official standard CHT_ROM, so i dare not try to flash because i am afraid the dopod900 will dead at BT too and then lost the official ROM.

as i saw your posts in another topic, that you successfuly flashed your own ROM, i assume, it is all OK now.

buzz, where you saw my posts said that i had been flashed my own ROM successfuly?
i am doubting very much...Due to my dopod900 was deadly at Bootloader after had been flashed..... i flashed the UNI_Dopod_1[1].13.36_CHT you had made especially time after time....
By the way..i have been flashed the URL Open_ch)UNI_DOPOD_11336_134_10402_Test (http://xda:xda@forum.xda-developers.com) which on the ftp successfuly.that is really successfull.. but it it a Test Rom version...i
after that it tried my best to flash the UNI_Dopod_1[1].13.36_CHT you had made onto my dopod900, but unhappily it still stay at BOOTLOADER and can't enter the WinCE ,in spite of flashing completely everytime....
SO i DON't flash successfuly at all....my dopod900 is staying BOOTLOADER STILL now...
Could you help me to find out the reason so that i can flashed successfly, please? If not, i also thanx to you very much!

try one more time flush and after finish just soft reset , you will be ok

i have tried many times with CHT ROM buzz made for me...it is of no effect !

maybe you can flash Universal_Radio_Only_Upgrade_1.04.02.zip only

Please don't say maybe..Are you sure? .it looks just a radio rom only ..Can it be flashed onto a universal?...i wanna making certain....i am despondently now.....it is a costly dopod900!
我以前就有一台多普达900出现过这个问题，刷了测试版之后不能启动。可能是Radio版本太 低，后来刷了 1.04.02 Radio就可以了。你可以试一试反正单独Radio不会破坏硬件。

i have re-flashed my dopod900 successfully now!!!!
i have find out the reson .
when my dopod is dead at Bootloader ....flash the Text CHT_ROM and succeed to enter OS..
then flash the CHT_ROM which buzz made onto it ..and then is Ok to enter.

IF i flash the CHT_ROM buzz made or my own ROM which i made onto the dopod while it is dead stay at the BOOTLoader , it can not be successful.

....Billion THX to BUzz.and guys who are the Best give me so much help.

我终于明白了,原来我一开始在尝试用自己制作出来的ROM 刷机的时候,由于我自己的ROM是按照BUZZ说的做,但没有删除里面的Radio和ms文件,所以刷完后 没法进入...之后再用BUZZ的ROM刷也没用了,因为这时候我的900的ROM中的其它部分已经损坏了 ....所以如果我刷那个比较完整的TEST版本,就可以进入...所以在刷完TEST完整版本可以开机后 ,再单独刷BUZZ做的或我自己做的没有RADIO的CHT_ROM, 这样子就没问题了..哈哈..谢谢你的帮助...请问你是哪里的?我的英文不好..在这样的论坛发贴真是难 为我了... :) :)

but, i want to make a ROM.exe which can be saved to my PC so that i can update other Wizards without using a MiniSD.

Does the pdocread also can be used to dump the Wizard ROM? if yes, what command can be use ? is the rom dump with "r2sd all" the same to the one dump with "pdocread"?

Finally, it's been figured out.

Mm.., I just want to if there is a way to flash the OS ROM together with the Extended ROM because Extended ROM containing some regional configuration is really needed? Any idea?
