Hello!
The Qtek 9000 is sold in Germany with a ROM dated middle October 2005.
Is this ROM also available for download somewhere?
Unfortunately I couldn't find it yet... :(
I would like to try it on my MDA Pro!

Hey,
I'm looging to change my Qtek german ROM to an English one.
I'm pretty sure we can find a deal in exchanging our ROMs!
But you need to tell me how to extract and how to reflash afterwards.
If interrested contact me.

The english ROM is here on xda-devs-FTP
But: please before flashing your OS upload the german ROM there!
This would be my very best xmas present :D

Dumping the ROM seems to be not easy
this is what I found: [Universal] How to d2s (dump) the ROM (http://buzzdev.net/index.php?option=com_simpleboard&Itemid=59&func=view&id=8573&catid=33)
I can't help you because I dont have a Universal (Qtek 9000) but I'm very interested in files of this ROM too!!!

Well, you say it.
If I look the post you mention I still have no idea where to start ???
I keep on seeking for complete tutorial.
By the way, does anybody know if changing the ROM is also changing the WM language? Or do I have to change separately?
Thank you.

A ROM also includes the WM language.

Hi,
Thank you for the links, I feel I'm very close to dump the german ROM.
But not done so far.
And I'm becoming impatient because I found the ROM I want to put in place.
Keep on helping me end pray for I resist not to flash the original german ROM. :) :) :D :D :P :P

I'm going mad to find how to backup original ROM.
Don't know if I will resist any longer to flash without backup.

Would You please try to run grab_it (http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=22861) on your Universal?
This would give us a RAW-ROM-Image.
and i need a file dump (TestWM5 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=29793)) of a German ROM.
but you will need a Storage Card to do this.

Hi all,
just reading through this thread here. I have an original VDA-IV with an unchanged ROM. I am trying to convince myself to upgrade to JasJar or O2, but did not do so yet. Any wish for a dump from me ?
(Have to leave now, but am able to do so tomorrow)

Maybe, we can have it a little easier, because I think, ROM dumping is very difficult and could also be hard to flash on other devices. For MDA compact (HTC Magician) for example, you had to edit the dumped ROM with a binary editor before it worked on other devices. Also, there often were problems with some SD card readers/writers, etc. :(
The best way would be getting a ROM update from the vendor (e.g Qtek) as a complete EXE-File. This could be flashed on other devices with the maupgrade_noid-Tool from xda developers FTP server.
So, it would be nice of you Qtek users, if you could write an e-mail to Qtek.ch! :)
They offer updates for Qtek users, but you need to mail your IMEI number. So MDA Pro users are not able to get Qtek updates this way.

Hello guys!
Has anyone been successful in contacting Qtek? :?
steiale
5th January 2006, 08:24 AM
Yes! I called several firms yesterday. But you won't like the result..
Ich was talking to the two main distributors who import qtek mobile phones.. Even they are not able to flash them. They send the phone to sweden to the general distri for Europe. The distri is called dangaard. They have all the roms but no chance to get them from them.. At least this is what they told me. Even the german distris don't get them..
But what makes me hope ist, that I was told that qtek itself will have a internet page by middle of january. There will be rom updates, as I was told. The site name will be www.qtek-corp.com. The site is run by htc themself.
What they also told me is that there is s lot of trouble in changing languages of the moviles. They had a big customer that bought over 1000 Qtek 9000 and wanted 300 of them in english. Qtek said that they won't change it.. Allegedly because there was a license issue by microsoft..
Thats all I found out.. But I didn't mail to Qtek.ch yet.. Do you think it makes sense..
Regards, alex

Thank you very much for your efforts! :)
Qtek.ch would be our last chance. I would give it a try.
But hopefully the new Qtek site you mentioned before will offer updates soon. If it's run by HTC directly, there should be the latest updates available.

This is written in German because it is a letter to a German vendor to get a German ROM!

or better, I fulfilled your request just a minute ago, I'll let You know if they actually give something. As I use the device in Russia and there is no Vodafone here, I actually might get something.

Has somebody installed that T-mobile ROM on a German Vodafone VPA IV?
Should I expect any issues regarding the Vodafone Tools?
I am curious what nb files I need to delete only to get windows burned in but not overwriting my extended rom....
Best,

One more thing, does the nk.nbf file contain the boot image / splash screen as well? I don't want to overwrite this one.

First things first, but I think You can find this information here in a lot of threads.
When You upgrade You upgrade three parts : OS, Radio and ExtROM.
If You want to keep the ExtROM, just take it out of the upgrade before You start it.
About the splash screen. Just search on that word and You will find ways to copy AND backup your actual splash screen. Exactly follow the instructions and You will keep your splash screen. After You change your OS to T-Mobile, You will definitely have their (T-Mobile) splash as well, so You will be able to restore the splash to your beloved Vodafone.
One more thing, I do not know if the Vodafone ExtROM will work without mistakes on your new T-Mobile ROM, be sure to check the .cab-files You will decide to run.
Hope this helps.

Well, I tested the new T-Mobile ROM. There are some improvements and it's much better than the first "buggy" version. You can read a lot about it in other threads.
But I really hate the T-Mobile branding everywhere!
The dialer / video telephony on Qtek looks MUCH better and there is also more free program memory.
I'll use the latest T-Mobile ROM for a while, but I will re-flash immediately if there is a new Qtek ROM with the same or a higher version number available.
