Thought I better put up a post here after interesting experience installing Tomtom 5.2 on my XDA Exec.
Well I installed it as normal, logged on and registered my maps on the web site, however due to unforseen problems with other software I had to resetup my device after Hard Reset.
When I installed Tomtom the second time in order to register my maps the device came up with a different Device ID. :(
Unfortunatley I could not recreate another unlock code on the website as it only allows 2 Devices to be registered. I used one when it was set up on my XDA2S and another when I moved the Software over to my EXEC.
Anyway as any inocenet person would, I contacted the lovely TOMTOM support people. Basicly they accused me of Lying and told me its impossible for a device to ever produce more than 1 device id as its based on the hardware of the device. They then insulted me a little more accused me of stealing software and hung up. :x
Well just in case any body else experiences this problem here is what I think is happening.
I think the Device Id is partly derived from your Screen Layout so if your map suddenly starts asking to be re registered for some unknow reason Rotate the screen to how you had it when you installed tomtom and registered it then do a soft reset. After that it worked fine for me.
Hope this helps someone.
Of course if you have not had the software installed on any device prior you could register the software for each orientation of the screen.
Interesting to hear if anybody is getting similar problems?
