I went for a 4GB Transcend SD Card. It works perfectly with absolutely no problems.

Got a great price from:

I did try the 4GB Transcend SD card, but my Universal refuse to take pictures and store it on my 4GB card. So I returned it. I bought a 2GB SanDisk Ultra instead, and all works fine. Not to mention that the San Disk 2GB SD card is black in color, thus looks nicely on my XDA exec.

Novatech 1Gb £36.97 inc vat, works perfectly in my O2 Exec. Delivery is extra but it is only down the road from me so picked it up and saved on delivery costs.

Hi to all,

please take a few seconds to see the Web up mentioned.
I am very interesting to buy a new 2GB, SD card. I saw many web pages and this is one of the best prices that I saw. Is a Transcend 150X. I saw more SD cards but without name.

Do not buy noname card! I have several of them broken lying around here.

I recommend Sandisk or Kingston.

Kingston gives lifetime warranty, Sandisk I do not know, but these two never make problems.

I use now 1 GB Sandisk SD Card.

Yo are right, everyone have to be careful when buy something, specially if you use your PC (Internet) to buy out side your country.
Be aware about the waranty, is a plus. Read about the produc and also the costumer notes or reviews.

I can't recommend Kingston cards. I've just RMAed a 2Gb sample back because of cracks growing and - believe it or not - its distintegrating. The plastic prongs on the contacts have gone - snapped off and the read protect switch has gone to read protect switch heaven.

How old is it? Have I been using to fight off guerillas? 2 months and no, just in my Universal.

I bought it off this site mwave.com about 4 months ago, they had it on sale before for less than $200. I forgot the exact price. I checked their site but did not find any listed, take a look: http://www.mwave.com/mwave/ViewProducts.hmx?PID=FLASHMEDIA-SD-SANDISK&updepts=FLASHMEDIA-SD&DNAME=Flash+Media+%2D+Secure+Digital

Southernin31,

Hi, if you checked the site I posted above, it has the SanDisk Ultra II for only $56.00. The one you posted has it selling at $99.00. That is why I prefer to buy from mwave.com. Their delivery is fast and swift here in the US.

http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec.hmx?scriteria=3450223

2 GB SD Card: http://www.mwave.com/mwave/Viewproducts.hmx?PID=FLASHMEDIA-SD-SANDISK&Simage=&Start=20.&updepts=FLASHMEDIA-SD&DName=Flash%20Media%20-%20Secure%20Digital&TP=22&PGN=2&Sort=price

They don't have the 2GB on stock now, but go send them an emal just to be sure.

From my experience, I also tried the Transcend 4GB SD Cards, but it won't allow me to save my pictures that I took on the card, so I returned it even though you can install and run any programs on it. So based on this, if you want a hassle free SD Card, stick with the 2 GB SD Cards.

Currently trailing 3 V1640s through Vodafone, on their literature it states the maximum sd memory card capacity it can take is 1gb? I am confused after seeing you post about getting 2gb+

Thanks

:?:

I am not sure what a V1640 is, I thought we were talking about the HTC Universal. Here is what I know in the HTC Universal. The maximum capacity that you can use without running into any problem is 2GB SD Cards. Using a 2GB SD card, you can store and run applications on it. You can store pictures and movies taken by the camera application without any problems.

Now on the HTC Universal, you can also use the 4GB SD Cards, BUT it only allows you to store and run applications. The problem arises when you use the built-in camera to take pictures and movies, because the program won't allow you to do so UNLESS you go beyond the 2GB limit. So to me this is an incompatibility. Plus when I tried the 4GB SD card before, I always get the message the card is full, even though it is not. It will eventually let me copy something on it, but with multiple tries.

Apologies it is the HTC Universal, its just the name vodafone have given it over here.

Thanks for the clarification over the memory cards.
Think I will opt for a 2gb sd card

I've just ordered a Sandisk 2GB Ultra II from BlueUnplugged:

https://www.blueunplugged.com/Products/SanDisk_Ultra_II_2GB_SD_Card.aspx

75 quid, not bad. I did originally order it through onlinememory.co.uk but they're out of stock til later in the week.

My Lexar Hi-Speed 1GB still does the business, but I just need more space for my music, Tomtom and any films I want on. I have TT and about 40 albums (thankyou AACPlusv2!!) but there ain't much room for anything else.

Was gonna sell the old one, but think I might as well keep it. They only go for 30 quid on eBay and I suppose they're always handy to have around!

Cheers

Has anyone with a 4GB card, tried partitioning to say 1GB and 3GB and then using the camera to the 1GB partition?

BlackICE
03-03-2006, 10:45 PM
@coldpenguin

I think, this only works when your camera supoorts patitions. Normally all cameras expect the card to be formatted like a diskette (=no partitions, just one big area)

Scratch my update, turns out BlueUnplugged charged me for it then realised they had a stock error and had none in stock.

So two down, one to go. I've ordered the same card through www.picstop.co.uk......hopefully this time I'll actually get a card.

I don't know if BlueUnplugged deliver to the US...take a look at their site? I'm sure these experiences were just one-offs, but really hacked me off!!

Hello People,

I have been in the same dilemma for quite some time. I just got my Orange SPV M5000 unlocked and it time to start using it seriously.
I am thinking to use it as a GPS SAT Nav in the car along with other software that I am currently searching. Of course, pics and mp3s are
a must but I can live without them.

While reading on the forums, some people mentioned that Tom Tom hangs up with SD cards and that MMC are better.
Does anyone have an input on this ? Is it correct that SD cards are readable up to 2 GB ?

Thanks in advanced
