Hi Buzz,
Any chance of having the procedure to change the splash screen documented in the same format and style? What you've done is nice and clear.
Regards

I tried to open the .nba file with WinImage...
But it said "You are trying to open a hard disk image without a FAT or FAT32 partition"
Then wrror came up...
What shall I do then?
How can I add this Universal_CHT dump to the OS ROM..
And where to find this Universal_CHT dump?
Thanks

Here it is ..You can download from http://www.buzzdev.net/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=68&func=fileinfo&id=197....
that CHT_ROM is Buzz made for me .Buzz said that he had been flashed it successfully....but i flashed it onto my dopod900 unsuccessfully...
maybe you can flash your dopod900 with the CHT_ROM...then tell me the result, please..
hoping you'll be successful!

Thanks Buzz,
The tool is great but seems a bit complicated to me.........
I think I have to rely on Asukal for the time being and I will try to learn the skill later....
Thanks a lot and merry Christmas.

Jimmy80,
as you've guessed the tools don't work with Wizard ROMs, very different file structure ...

NEvermind - I realise now the nbk is the system ROM and not in FAT16 format. The _ms is the extended ROM and can be used with WinImage.

Is there a way to extract the actual files from the ROM using this? For example, if there is a specific file that is in the /windows directory, can I convert the .nbf to .nba then extract it somehow?
Sorry for the noobish question...

How can I dump my Universal original rom?
You are allways giving as example flashing a new (donwnloaded) rom.
I would like to edit my own rom.

I am an avid user but not a technical expert. Currently I have a QTEK9000 (unlocked) with
ROM: 1.13.73 GER
Date: 10/14/05
Radio: 1.03.00
Protokoll: 42.36.P8
I'd like to update to the latest ROM but wonder what to do if that fails.
How can I restore the current ROM?
Many thanks for your help!

Greetings All:
I currently own a O2 XDA EXEC with the updated rom for O2, and been hearing a lot that qtek newest rom is very fast and stable, and obviously would like to have that one on my Universal. But at the same time I'm not sure (not that savvy) on decodin and encoding, so I was wondering if anyone has the newest qtek rom already decoded and encoded which I can just flash on my O2 with an ease (I'm not being lazy but fear of losing my phone if I did the decoding and encoding).
Please Help or any suggestions.
Thanks

I have seen plenty of roms with O2__001 in the operator field. And with the update file "MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe", is there a need to change this field to CDL__001 as it used to be in the past?
Does this string affect the stability?

Hello
Is there a simple way to extract the actual files from the ROM? For example, if there is a specific file that is in the /windows directory, I have converted the NK.nbf to NK.nba then how to extract specific file from nk.nba ?
I am looking for the way to enable block recognizer on Ameo with WM5pl
I am looking for the msim.dll which is missing from WM5pl version.

I've been looking around and searching for a good explenation on this for some time. The links in this thread are old and all I got from them were the frontpage of the buzzdev-forum.
However, after some time this is what I found:
How To: Build your own Custom ROM!
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=18029&postcount=1
GREAT!
Everything in the manual works fine...
...until make_imgfs is run. This is what I get:
C:\Custom ROM Tools\2. IMGFS Tools>make_imgfs.exe nk.fat -nosplit
ÄΦ¿í¬á! ìÑ ¼«úπ «Γ«íαếΓ∞ Σá⌐½ nk.fat ó »á¼∩Γ∞
and no nk.fat. Just gibberish. Awwww... So close! Anybody got any idea as to what might have gone wrong?
I have also tried just running prepare_imgfs.exe and then make_imgfs right after. Still no luck. How odd... Help?
