Before you change it,remember:YOU SHORTCUTs MAYBE WON'T WORK!

Use a Reg Editor(like Resco Registry etc.) to find this key:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles \SDMemory\Folder

Change the default value to the name you want.

Soft-reset your PPC

Im having same kind of problems...

Anyhow: The value in registery shows "Storage Card" but when using file explorer, the real name of the inbuilt Diamond storage, is "Storage Card2". And of course I can't rename it directly because it's in use. Must be a simple solution for this but can't figure this out. Any easy way to correct the name?

Solved!

It had something to do with the new ROM edition I was using and the option to store attachments on a storage card. I uncheck the box "When available, use this storage card to store attachments", deleted the old "fake" storage card folders and did a soft reset --> problem solved huraah! :)
