At first I thought it was the WiFi module going berserk in my Universal  , because every time when I turned it on, the Universal would freeze and warranted a soft-reset. :?

I have since hard-reset the thing at least 8 times :x ; and found out that JournalBar was the culprit  ! Now I have turned off Journal Bar's auto-update... I think I'm gonna have to find a replacement plugin and uninstall this thing!

Wasted the whole day wiping and reinstalling everything fresh :x

I had the exact same problem.
When the device is booting there is a very short time where you can
start apps, thus slow down journalbar from loading, and then remove it from the today screen. At the saem time i disabled wifi.

Cheers

Untic the Check for updates and the Sync on connect options when starting, they are on the Today Options..

OmegaOne has released a new version of Journal Bar that fixes the freeze problem.
I also spend a lot of wasted time on trying to troubleshoot my Exec freezing up. Apparrently the problem was due to the weather format hanging.

You need to un-install your current one before installing the new one, then the problem goes away.

Thanks for the headsup; but I am very reluctant in reinstalling JB (I have uninstalled it). It is outrageous that a simple plugin like this could freeze up the device... What if one day, the format changes again without O1 knowing, and the phone freezes again... in the middle of an important call or something?

Any recommendation for something like JB that does newsfeed and weather updates?

I too had the unfortunate problem and had to hard reset twice. I was stupid- not because I bought JB to start with, but stupid because once I hard reset, I thought I would give JB another try. It will be a long time (and be very difficult) for me to be convinced that it is safe to reinstall JB. Who out there wants to take that risk and go through all the hassle? :x
I don't mind if a program has problems- that's how we make improvements, but to force a hard reset...
