i think it is possible, i tried this in my i mate pda2k try it and tell us the result.
first use rescue registry which usually comes with rescue explorer then open HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT THEN MP3 THEN DEFAULT THEN CHANGE MP3FILE IN THE SECOND SQUARE TO BE WMAFILE THEN OK
PUT THE MP3 RING TONE IN FOLDER WINDOWS\RINGS
THEN TRY TO MAKE IT RING TONE

There is a much easier way.. I have attached CAB file that once installed, will allow you to select an MP3 as a ringtone.. Simply find the file in File Explorer & under properties, select 'Set As Ringtone'

Hey, you don't need to do any registry hacks or stuff like that. Just copy your MP3 file to the /Windows/Rings folder and your MP3 file will be available for selection in the list. It's that easy!

Alternatively, install the following application that will add a new menu option "Set as Ringtone" when you tap and hold on an MP3 file in the built-in File Explorer.

Thanks

Is there no much easier way to do that, i suppose if we assign the ring tone to a contact name i think there should any option you can assign the ring tone to a group and transfer all contact into that group ?

or any other way if some one know ?

thanks

I've tried the CAB method before. But the program will copy the MP3 file to Windows\ring\ It ocuppys the precious and pitiful storage space.

I think a better way is to modify the registry to set the ringtone path to the Storage Card...

i had the same problem of using mp3's as ring tones and this is my way round it

copy the mp3 ring tones you want to use to a folder ( ie mp3 ringtones ) in storage ( not starage card )
click on contacts then click on tools / photo view
click on the name you want to assign a ringtone for and assign a mp3 ringtrone
job done :)

works for me
it doesn't work if the mp3 ringtones are stored on your storage card but works fine if they are stored in storage

I dont even have the option of assigning individual ringtones. Where are you clicking on to get that? the only way i can do that is with mtux(or whatever that companies software is) and even then its not mp3

If you want to get it to work if you installed pocketmusic, then you have to disable the mp3 file associasion in pocketmusic. Then everything works fine.

Geez, why don't you just copy the MP3 to \Windows\Rings\

Make sure the file name has no spaces. It works perfectly alright for me that way.
