Few days ago, I buyed my new Qtek 2020i. Two days spent playing with my new toy, then the decision: let's try to upgrade our baby.
Rule one: reading carefully wat's under your eyes could save a lot of troubles...
By the way, I'm not a judicious guy so I downloaded the rom for Qtek 2020 and NOT the one dedicated to 2020i (how little is that "i"!).
My bad luck made that the upgrading procedure - yes, I did it - warned me about the incompatibility between hw and sw only after it had erased the old rom. Result: device in comatose state.
Uh!
And now?
Finding an italian release of the rom for this device is more arduous than obtain an interview with the pope, so, the only way to resuscitate the zombie was intalling on it the english version...
Rule two: we, in Italy, say something as "wives and oxes have to be from your country", another way to say that it's better to manage things with wich you are in familiar terms...
OK, it worked, but... you can remark that my english is... a little defective. It does not appreciate my efforts and this feeling is shared by me...
First attempt: qtek 2020i is the same device as I-mate pda2, so I got a copy of it and tried to install ... it's not possible, sorry, says the message on the screen.

Looking for a way to get out of the scrape, I unpacked the executables of the two roms: the english version for 2020i and the italian version for pda2. I examined the files included and noticed that the composition was similar, so I decided to make an attempt replacing in the 2020i EN rom the ms_.nbf and the nk_.nbf files with the same ones I finded in the pda2 ITA rom. Made this, I launched the MaUpgradeUt_oID.exe and... wow! it runs!
Rule four: happy end.
now, my qtek 2020i works and speaks italian again. Actually, splash screen shows an I-mate logo... perhaps I'll find a solution for this...later.
