Somebody else posted a while ago but nobody really knewanything and I now have same prob.

If I press the power button the screen will not switch off but If you hold it down the backlight still switches off so it's not the button broken. I thought OK I can live with this for a while but this means you also cant switch it on and the only way is by not locking all buttons when device off but of course it switches on in my pocket and my battery is dead before the end of the day. Also if I press the soft reset button to try and switch the device on, it hard resets it without me pressing the power button in at the same time, which again incredibly annoying!!!

I have tried reflashing ROM but no change, My power button did break off the mainboard a while ago so at first thought it was this problem come back but as others have the same problem and button still turns off backlight Im stumped about whats going on! . Stupidly even though within warrenty I took it to my local phone repair shop for the original button problem instead of T-mobile so my warrenty is now void so they probably won't accept to fix this new prob.

Unless anyone knows of a fix, would T-mobile take and fix If I pay (as I voided warrenty) or would they not even want to touch it because the void sticker is removed. Also would they charge a stupid amount even for the smallest fault?

Cheers, andy

I just brought mine to a t-mobile shop last week because my power buttom broke off the mainboard. My warranty sticker was also broken and they did accept it. Why wouldn't they if you're paying they don't care.

T-mobile don't do repairs, they use HTC, who also do out of warranty repairs.

I would clean off the warranty sticker completley including all the bits in the screw head and deny all knowledge if asked ;-)

Today I got a phonecall that they had replaced my phone with a new one. I told them that is wasn't a warrenty repair... they did make a mistake, but I still get the new phone for free... This solves my problems... :P :D :P

dont know whether anyone still needs info on this BUT mine is fixed, i told it that i was gonna take it to htc in milton keynes tomorrow and it fixed itself. well sort of. i will just write what i did when it star ed working. i tried everything to fix this. if you read the top post i think that is a copy of my original post. i was using my blueangel tonight to browse this site in bed using wifi. normally i dont really use this but my exec is charging. anyway i had tried turning wifi on and off before and the problem was still there. now after prolonged use the power button is working. i think it must be the wifi. i suspected this from the start. other than that the only other thing i have done is rotate the display but i think its the wifi. you know when you put them in standby when wifi is on there is a delay in turning off while it disconnects. mine froze then and after that the button was not working this is why i suspected it had something to do with this from the start.
