I am encountering the same frustrating lockup at the windows boot screen using either the O2 Rom or the Dec T-Mobile Rom. Any number of attempts to soft reset or remove battery and reset are having no effect and only a hard reset gets the phone working again.

The problem arises after I have installed third party software. All the software installed fine and is working 100% ok. If I then remove the battery ie to change the sim card. Put back the battery and switch on all I get is the Blue Windows Mobile screen and WM5 will not load.

Anyone encountered the same problem and know how to resolve it?

All I can think of is that some piece of software is causing the problem. Maybe trial and error ie install one programme then soft reset to test if WM5 boots properly will identify if a particular piece of software is causing the boot lockup.

I had the same problem on a MDA vario, have you got pocket plus installed?

if so its still good to use, but the safe mode option is not WM5 compliant, once installed, just edit the spb options and untick safe mode checkbox, now on soft reset it wont hang

Spot on!! Last night by process of elimination I discovered that the culprit was indeed SPB Pocket Plus.

Without that prog installed everything is fine and dandy. Install it and lock up occurs on soft re-boot.

I used the latest version of Pocket Plus as well which is supposed to be WM5 compliant.

There's no fun invoking old posts just for the sake of posting, lol
