View Full Version : Caller_ID won't install...

i skip installing the ext rom after doing a hard reset. i want to install caller_id but it wont let me... my file is Caller_ID_Magician_Generic_WWE_RC13.cab. when installing it say "The file "\Windows\iacontacts.dll" is in use or is in ROM. If the file is not in ROM, please cloase the application using the file." what should i do with this? and can i install this in storage? Thanks in advance to whoever give replies.

This problem suggests caller id or Photo Contacts is already installed on your device. Check to see if Photo Contacts is in your programs list.

If not, go to the windows folder and try to rename iacontacts.dll to iacontacts.old and then delete this file. Attempt your install again.

Your install may give you the same message for additonal files, repeat the above for each file named.

The files which are in used by the device will not be overwritten. You have to browse to \windows and rename each of those files. After that, install again. I have the same situation and it works now. :)

thanks a lot. i can install now. the file that i rename to *.old. is it okay to delete em? thanks.

Glad to here you were able to solve. Yes, you may delete the file(s) you renamed .old.
