Hi there!

Everybody knows that the Windows 2003 Phone Edition has a lot of junk files (ex: help files, unnecessary programs like Jawbreaker, Solitarie etc., etc., etc.) which eats a lot of free memory, and cannot be deleted because it is in the ROM.
Last night I've had an idea: Is there any way to extract the WIN CE ROM on my computer, edit the things that I want, for example delete that help files, delete the programs that I don't need, and the extract back the edited ROM, and then install it to the Magician. And if we can do this, we can have a lot of free space :D:D:D
So my question is: Is there any Rom Editor, wich can do this?
And another: If there is, and we can do this, may performance improves? Because we get free space in the ROM, not in the RAM, so we can't use the free space. But can the Windows use that free space, if it's not in the RAM?

Waiting for replies.....

I like to travel with you, cause I want to add apps to my rom & maybe we can even increase the BIG Storage by shrinking the CE part. Unsure when I'll start, haven't much spare time left for this journey :-(

Those files don't "eat up free memory" since they are located in the system ROM, which has nothing to do with Extended_ROM, Storage or even the RAM-Disk.

I know, though having by example the latest camera in rom, saves >500KB in RAM/Storage :-)
Just an example.

i guess the only way would be to build your own CE image... I worked with Windows CE 4.1 a little while back. its pretty easy to build your own "platform" but you need all of the device drivers, and i doubt they are all standard.

For the moment I would be pleased just to mount the CE as a fat-image. I like to add some apps & other stuff to it & delete some minor things like themes & sounds which I don't use.
This way I do save ram :!:
