Unfortunately it has to be done at quite a low level, OS level, as the OS receives the insert/eject notification. If you REALLY wanted to disable it, I might be able to, but it requires quite a lot of work for not too much reward IMHO.

Let me know.

If there is a lot of work for a small reward, then forget it.

By the way, do you find it irritating sometimes?

Well, I don't, because the usual reason for inserting a SD card is to actually use its contents. In all cases I don't I just switch the device off.

Of course for your situation, when the ppc is in off mode, and you insert the SD to use it, it is correct to turn on the ppc.

Well, my SD is always in the ppc, sometimes when my ppc is in off mode, suddenly there is a need to take out the SD for use on my PC, so once SD remove and without the need to use ppc, I am wasting the power of the ppc for about 10 secs to 1 min.

After using the SD on the PC, the ppc is already in the off mode, so now, I just need to put in the SD and do nothing else, well I am wasting 10 secs to 1 min of power again because the ppc wakes up.

The Mio A701 has this feature built in (no power on on insertion).
I do use it because I don't like waking up my better half when doing my inserting late at night.

However, thinking about it, although it would require a low level hack to disable this feature (if indeed it's possible at all), it would be fairly straight forward to write an app that could immediately switch off the phone when you insert a card. However, again, for the 1 second or so it takes me to switch the phone off, it's not a big issue.

Somebody on the forum (apologies for forgetting) has already written most of this app (to notify you when you lose your card). This could easily be modified if you ask the author.

Has anyone managed to toggle OFF wifi on a wizard?
-wifion and -wifioff work fine but toggle only turns wifi on.
I am using 2 icons in PHM traylaunch which work but I would love to have just the one.:)

Hi everybody,

When I switch on the wifi using the standard Comm Manager, the wifi is suspended when I suspend the device. I think this in a normal behaviour...

But with vjvolubilis, I have a strange behaviour with my Artemis :
When I switch on wifi with "vjvolubilis -wifion", the wifi is on (great !) . But it remains ON when i suspend the device...

Is is normal ?

KR, Imer.

It's normal in the sense that that is how it was programmed. It's not a perfect implementation yet... I'm going to look into it again using an entirely different technique, eventually! Apologies for delay, I'm working very full time in Meat Space unfortunately, so I'm getting very little spare time to code :( V

You should not apologize as you did a great work and you are so kind to share it with us :)

Once again, thanks for this !

hi,

i have a prophet. if a person calls to me, the system uses the pocket speaker to play the incoming call ringtone.

in my tunned car, the music sounds faster, and every time i don't hear it.
but i have a blutooth carkit handsfree with a powerful speaker. then he would be useful to use the speaker of the handsfree instead of the speaker of the telephone.

in other moments (example: when i use the earpiece handsfree) that's not
useful because i always do not take the earpiece in the ear.

my old v3x phone as the solucion: it plays everytime the incoming call rings using at the same time the handsfree speaker and the phone speaker. this is terrific !!

it's possible the usage of your application for the play (at the same time) of the incoming call rings using the two speakers (phone and bt handsfree) ??

very agree to you...

[sorry, my english is bad and my explanation poor]

I've got some ideas about how it might be possible to test it, but I doubt it. The audio path is selected by the audio driver, and that will normally only choose one path. It might be possible to hack in another, but I think it would be messy and unreliable.

Hi Vijay

The program is super and it is working fine from command line

however when I create a shortcut within Wisbar I get a error message

vijay555

Not sure what could be the problem, presumably wisbar is changing the way the command line options are read?

As a work around, prepare a normal .lnk using a file explorer, and use wisbar just to launch that.

lnk option works perfectly
Thanks a lot.

I use Phone alarm with Bluetooth - Activate on call option - enabled to conserve power.
However when I have to make a call I often go onto the phone screen and it is difficult for me everytime to come back to today and get Bluetooth activated through Phone alarm before I make the call.

with your SW I can toggle bluetooth from the Today menu Bar itself

what will I do without a PPC , this device is just too convenient makes life really easy once U know to tweak it to get the max out of it

hi,
the phonealarm v1.58 includes a feature called "active speaker phone on call"
(available only in w2005).
activating this option when a people calls to me, the sound is played in the speaker phone AND in the speaker of the bt handsfree (if any).

Bartitio - I added that feature to an unreleased version of this app quite some time ago. However, I've just (ie yesterday) finished an enomous programming problem which has taken weeks to solve, so I can now finally start proper coding again. I'll try to work on a new release of this app soon.

Good program vijay555.

I am using Dopod d810 (trinity) and GG03a bluetooth (mono) and able to force music to my BT earphone. However the music will only run on my BT earphone for 2 minutes only. Is there any way to force music to my BT earphone non-stop?

Thanks

Emjay, I'm not sure. The bluetooth audio gateway feature was written for older devices, but should be supported by any new Windows Mobile device too. However, at least on the Hermes onwards HTC do something different which kinda breaks it. I'll be looking to rewrite this whole feature at some point, but not right now. Working on some other (related) stuff first.

tizzi: some features will work, eg bluetooth, IRDA, maybe audio gateway etc. But some stuff is HTC hardware specific, eg wifi. I'll hopefully be finishing off a version that will support any device wifi soon.

Should the wifi toggle work on the HTC Wizard (Cing. 8125) ?
I get a status message of 'No compatible Wifi Found!'

I think it kinda worked on older roms, but was never officially supported because I don't have a wizard. I've written new code that should work, but it's not released yet.

Hi vijay,

Im using the -GPRSON flag but after around 5 to 6 mins the GPRS connection is closed. If i run the GPRS connection through the normal connection manager it stays up until i decide to turn it off.

Any ideas?

Im using a Psion Workabout Pro S

vijay555

ger0nim0: that's a weird freaky device! How do you find it?

Anyway - I'm using normal OS functions to control the GPRS, so should work on any WinCE device. However, I couldn't say how your device is configured - I basically tell the OS to start up a data connection. I don't tell it to switch it off. However, other data apps may be shutting down the connection, eg Internet Expolorer. Is the behaviour exactly the same, ie always 5-6 mins, and always without you doing anything to the device (in both cases, using my app or the connection manager?)

Worst case if you can get a rom and post it, we can disassemble the rom and reverse engineer the connection manager. But it's a fair bit of work.

Cheers V,

The device is running wm5 aku3x - it is trial unit that my company is looking to rollout to couriers. If i connect via the connection manager, the data connection stays ups. The 5 to 6 mins disconnect is only happening when i connect with vjvolubilis.

Im using vjvolubilis to enable a 'one-click' connect rather than having to keep navigating the os to start the GPRS session. I'm testing ways to lock the OS down but enable function such as starting a GPRS session without allowing a user to access any of the OS settings.

Which brings me to another question, WM5 popup balloons - they often contain shortcuts to OS settings which make WM5 hard to lockdown. I can remove the dialling balloon but do you know of a way to remove the 'Cannot Connect' balloon when a GPRS session cannot be established for any reason (in my case - bad GPRS coverage).

vijay555
26th January 2007, 12:03 AM
Hmm - so it's a normal WM5 device? Not WinCE?

Regarding the balloons - I'm not sure if there's an easy solution - at a guess I would search through your registry in CLSID for the appropriate notification and disable it. Finding the notification is the trick I guess. I could try to reverse it, but I've just had a quick poke around and could work you a more elegant solution, ie show the balloon but remove the bits you don't need (Settings hyperlink, dismiss, or entirely reconfigure the balloon). But that would be a custom solution and require a bit of work... PM me if you think you'd be interested, but I suggest going for the CLSID hack first. It might be an established hack already.

Can you point me towards a rom file for the device?

V

ger0nim0

Yup its a WM5 device. Im told the OS for this psion is actually beta. I have a release version coming next week. The major device difference is that it's running WM5 premium edition and not phone edition. There is a Siemens modem (MC75) inside the device but connections are made using standard OS calls.

I'll send you the release version so that you can take a look. If you can modify vjvolubilis to work for the device and perhaps allow it to prompt which connection to dial as these devices will be connecting to 3 different APNs depending on which application is used. (Approx 1200 devices will be deployed once development finishes). Vjvolubilis is great to allow a user to test a connection without allowing them near any of the OS settings. Happy to donate to the cause aswell!

I had a look through the CLSID's but couldn't find anything that maybe related to the bubble - it must be wrapped in a .dll somewhere that connmgr uses.

I found this little burb about the 'cannot connect' balloon: http://blogs.msdn.com/jasonlan/archive/2006/09/28/775775.aspx

vijay555

ger0nim0: I think I can disable the balloon or modify it as you require it to show a custom message.

The Wifi toggle feature doesnt work fully on my 8125. It turns the wifi on, but it doesnt turn it off.

The wifi off option works though on its own. Any fix for this in the future vijay??

Bug with Sprint Vogue and radio on/off. I am using the latest VJVolubilis. Bluetooth works fine, but phone on and off is screwy. It turns the phone/radio off correctly, but when I toggle it back on, although it seems to come back on (according to the icons up top) it can't establish a data connection. I notice the same bug when I use Phone Weaver to toggle the phone on and off via profiles. Data connection can't be established until after a soft-reset. So something with how each program is toggling the radio in the Sprint Vogue isn't working correctly. If I use the internal wireless manager program (wrlsmgr.exe or comm manager) to toggle the phone, it turns it on and off and data connection works as it should.

I'm looking for a way to launch VPN connections faster, as the current way is extremely buried.

Could this program be made to launch VPN connections or provide a shortcut to them? Thanks!

Also, how does this play with WM 6.1?
