Tbh I am starting to feel that this wm5 is more a downgrade to the previous version!
On my sd card I have some word documents that I transferd from the pc some are about 3k and others about 5k..... all of them opened (and still do) fine on my ipaq with wm2003se... when I try to open the same docs on my exec wm5 some of them Word gives an error that found something wrong with the document and just refuses to open it!!!
I find this to be very frustrating and a major flaw....
Has anyone experienced something like this or know of any cure to the problem?...

I have the same problem hopefully it will be fixed in a future relase of WM5 of Activsync.
You could try Texmaker from softmaker.com, its not cheap but it will open every word document without needing any conversion & you can edit it without risking loss of formatting.

thank you very much for your reply.
I am happy and also sad to know that I'm not the only one with this issue.... I suppose many people haven't reported this since a lot of these execs wherent purchased for its itended functions but more so as a toy or trend (no offence intended).
Also I noticed you mentioned activesync...thing is these documents where put on the card straight on the card reader (i did not use activesync) and they work and open fine with the ipaq on wm2003se..... I'm just a bit disgusted that with this wm5 things (or at least some) seem to have gone back instead of forward.... I thought this device would be a major improvement in running business more efficiently but flaws like this on essential things that are needed by the professional is just poor...very poor indeed... I think if I could load wm2003se on this tomorrow I probably would just for stability!

I had the same problem when moving from my iPAQ to my QTEK. W2003 word docs are a special format, whereas WM5 are real .doc files. So copy your old docs via active sync to a PC then back to the WM5 device. AS will convert them from a pwi to doc and then just copy them to the WM5 device without convertion.
