Wardy have u got a dopod 818 pro or jammin?....As i have a jammin and was thinking of installing the dopod rom.....Have u tried both roms?

Yes, you can do that but your 818Pro will have European/Australian GSM settings instead of Asian. You need to flash the DopodAsia Extended_rom if you want those Asian settings.

I tried flashing my 818-pro with the Jamin Rom... stoped after 95% (assuming when validating the device ID) and informed that the rom is not for my device... left the 818-pro dead!. My only way to recover was, to flash with MDA compact rom to bring it live again and than load through awizard the 818-pro WWE version from this FTP.
Conclusions:
1. Imate decided to disable an incorrect device???? (perhaps un-intentially).. therefore avoid using the Imate RRU utility.

2. flash NBA through the Awizard utility.
Question how to separate the Extended Rom from the NK.NBA provided ???

I don't think so. I have successfully flashed my Dopod 818Pro with Imate JAMin. However, I flashed it back to DopodAsia ROM because it's not a newer ROM.

If you still can get your Dopod to the Bootloader mode, you may try to flash it with this Imate ROM. Better than STD I guess. Good luck!
(To get it to Bootloader, press Camera button and reset the unit. Holding the camera button until you see four color bars. Insert USB connector and run the ROM file.)

Thanks for the advice Khuanchai, I might want to try this out, but am worried about getting a failed flash like in Dubi's case. It will be difficult for me to send my 818Pro for repair as there are no Dopod service centres here in Australia.

Do I need to take special precautions before running the update, such as applying the unlock CID option using the aWizard tool?

Not sure you need to unlock CID in order to flash a new ROM only but it's a must if you want to backup your Dopod ROM. I have done this to backup my Dopod ROM that can be flashed back whenever I want.

I think Dubi has failed because of incomplete downloaded file.

Unfortunately, this is in Thai but it's easy to follow if you have some experience on flashing ROM.

Thanks for the remarks.... however... My phone has been originally Chinese and I loaded the 818pro rom wwe avaiable here on the FTP> however by mistake I flashed it before with an MDA compac rom which installed a wierd Extended Rom which I can't get rid of, unleass I have a good "ship" version. Tried few time to flash the Imate Jamin rom and it quited after 95%. I am currently using the Imate version.. dated Jan 9th. which I was able to finalize with lot's of tricks such as complete the RRU by lading just a radio version.... I think (just feeling) that the Dopod818 pro wwe is better.... however in order to resolve my complete issues and to let you know if it fialed (95%) becuase of Imate or becasue of a strange Extendedrom that I have I need to have access to a "SHIP" WWE Asia version. Placed a request here on the Board but so far no one Uploaded it... Yet.

I have backed up my Dopod 818Pro's original ROM (English version) to a BIN file that needs to write to an SD card before flashing the unit. If you want to try, please find a place that I could upload to.

Thanks for the efforts, however the zip file is corrupted.... I tried dnload it 3 times, the same file and zip is corrupted... I suggeste please verify that indeed your original file integrity is ok and upload it again. The best is just to attach the file to your message (if you have difficulties to use the ftp...).
