background "hiss"

Hello all, another question that I would appriciate any feedback for.

I have noticed "background hiss", you hear it when the other end is not talking, or the call is getting set up. Is this a feature of the phone / can anyone else confirm this?

I have a Dopod 577w (Tornado).

I think it depends on the network sigal strength. If the signal is poor, sure there will be "background hiss".

thanks for the response. It seems to be there in the background all the time, regardless of strength. only a slight hiss, but I am not sure if this is to be expected or not. Otherwise I will send it back!

Oddly, it does not seem to get louder if I raise the volume or not? It is always there.

I just wanted to know if anyone has the same experiance. You notice the hiss as soon as the connection is made (and the phone is ringing at the end)

Accecptable. Every phone I've used has background hiss (in quiet room can be heard). It's just a phone, not a HIFI speaker. Relax. :D
