I think this deserves its own topic. Original post from Tuatara:
Hi everyone ...
Sorry, I've run out of time for providing you with an updated ROM which I wanted to have feature complete. I'm off on vacation tomorrow for 2 weeks, and can't keep working on it until I'm back.
I've been playing around with many things (adding/removing files, fixing the Midlet Manager, updating Camera, etc.) but I haven't got the ROM to the point where I feel it's 100% ready for others - but having said that, I've uploaded it to XDA Dev, and you're welcome to give it a try and see if it improves things for you.
This is MAINLY an update from Mamaich's v2a ROM, which does contain the Quantum Timing Patch, and the Performance Tweaks.
I've also made a few filesystem changes - predominantly removing the Midlet Manager (which wasn't working), applied all of the Performance Tweaks as per the thread (and a few more), changed the default startup elements to suit my tastes (at the moment), and added some useful programs and details to the ROM. (psShutXP, Running Programs, Shortcuts to missing elements, etc.)
The ROM is in /Uploads/Blue Angel/wm5_test/Tuatara_v2a_Custom.zip
Inside the ZIP file is the nk.nba file, along with the updated registry files (boot.rgu, default.rgu, and user.rgu) which have been merged in. I've unfortunately forgotten to include initflashfiles.dat in the ZIP, but that file is directly available from inside the ROM anyways.
The ZIP also contains a different EXTROM - only the missing files, camera, and midlet manager are needed now, and there is no warning about publisher on installation anymore. You can obviously customize the EXTROM cfg.txt file to your liking, and install anything and everything all at once.
Additionally the ROM itself still has some additional space for applications, so if you want to cook your own, there is some space available to add more.
Sorry I won't be able to answer any questions about this ROM, or handle issues on it for two weeks, so it's up to you if you want to try it (or just decompose it and look at the changes).
Enjoy, and I hope everything goes well.
Regards,
Robert.

Personal thoughts: I think this ROM gives some performance boost indeed, not much, but it is noticable. Nearly every bug is fixed now, only the bluetooth disconnect issue is left. My BA is fianlly shows itself disconnected when i take it off the cradle (with the previous ROMs, it often showed that it is still connected).

Hi, I've tried this ROM & this definitely faster! Thanks!
But I can't seem to enable SmartDialilng by removing the "_" from the mfc80u.dll_ and msvcr80.dll_ files for SmartDial will start to work? These 2 files are missing from this ROM but even after I've copied these 2 files into the \Windows folder, SmartDialing still doesn't work. Any ideas?

I should take a look at one of the early versions of "New menu for WM5" (anything below 1.0.0 beta). Does anyone still have the CABs?

I downloaded the new Rom and having a little trouble trying to download to my SX66. I have upgraded and downgraded the WM5 on my SX66 several times. I was wondering since the rom file is nba instead of nbf does that make a huge difference. I admit have have not messed around with my device data cause I find that a little complicated. I usaully use the MA_Upgrade cause I don't have to tweak too much. Any suggestions?

In this case, you should use the harder way. Read step 4 of the upgrading process (see wiki) to upgrade via BaUpgradeUt.exe.

The nk.nba file needs to be converted back to nk.nbf regardless of whether you use MA_Upgrade or BA_Upgrade. I use MA_Upgrade. There is an modelid entry of the USER.rgu that should be changed to PH20B1. I'm not sure whether these *.rgu files need to be copied to the \windows dir or added back into the nk.nba file. Any thoughts KTamas, i'm thinking the later.

You don't have to do anything with RGU files at all. You need to use xda3nbftool (with editfix.bat if you want) to patch the ROM.

Yeah, I've noticed too, but it recognizes the device "disconnected" more now when i take it out the cradle.
SmartDial is an extension to the phone that should make dialing numbers and contacts easier. You should give it a try.

First of all, run GetDeviceData (ftp://xda:xda@xda-developers.com/BlueAngel/Tools/GetDeviceData.exe) on your device. It creates a DeviceData.txt file in \Windows, copy that to the desktop and open it with notepad. You should see something like:
PH20B 0 B GER R T-MOB101 1.12.00 0 0 1.12.100 1.02.00 02.00
The important parts are:
PH20B - this is your device. If you have an SX-66, it is PH20B1 i think.
GER - the ROM language. WWE means World Wide English. If your device has a localizes ROM, it can be GER (german) for example.
T-MOB101 - This is your cell phone provider's code. T-MOB101 means T-mobile germany for example.
Okay, I assume that you've put everything to C:\rom\.
Now, start->run->cmd
This opens the command prompt. Now, do the following:
C:
then
cd Rom
Now, you should see:
C:\rom\>
Now, run:
xda3nbftool -sd PH20B -so T-MOB101 -sl GER nk.nba
This should be pretty self-explinatory, you set the device code with -sd, the operator with -so and the language with -sl. You get these data from devicedata.txt.
Next step is:
xda3nbftool -c -u nk.nba
This updates the CRC checksum in the ROM.
Then:
xda3nbftool -x nk.nba nk.nbf 0x20040521
This creates the nk.nbf file. Now you can run BaUpgradeUt.exe.

First you type "C:". Press enter. Secondly, you type "cd rom". You press enter. This way, it will work.

Thanks again. But do you get the program xda3nbftools tools to excute the commands. In other words when I try to put in the device data do I do it like this
C:xda3nbftools -sd PH20B1 -soXGULA001 -sl WWE nk.nba
Or is there another way cause I keep getting the incorrect syntax message

So, you see:

then you have to write (in your case):
xda3nbftool -sd PH20B1 -so XGULA001 -sl WWE nk.nba
then press enter.

Okay, here is a bat file, right click -> save as, save to anywhere, rename it from mrcfix.txt to mrcfix.bat and just run it. If you have nk.nba and xda3nbftool into C:\ROM, it'll work and generate you an NBF file, with your settings (PH20B1 - XGULA001 - WWE).

For the skins, they for WMP10 right? You should have three files in \program files\windows media player called Default(landscape), Default(portrait), Default(Square).

The rom is indeed faster (alot) .. you can even see it by the screen alignment! :) Microsoft Voice works perfectly and all operations seem to work ok..
Having some issues with Wifi tho. I use SJPhone for Voip and im having similar issues we had with Skype where the wifi died until soft reset. Does it randomly more often than not. (a new version will be out for WM5).
Using wifi tends to make the device alot slower.. I havent tested bluetooth yet.
Another thing i noticed, it takes longer to boot. Maybe its something its using.. smart dialing maybe.. need to test it abit more.

Yes. Before soft reset, turn off your device for 10-15 secs and/or use a software to do the soft reset.

ok, thanks. BTW, thanks also for this ROM, I did not repartitioned my BA before upgrading, but to my surprise, the BA Repartitiondoc we have for WM2003 is working in this ROM
Regarding the SunnySoft Backup, when i restore all the files (including the Regestries), it doesnt work, I will have to do a hard reset again. But, selective restore is working. So what can be the problem? Or I will have to do another try? hehehe

No, you can't, it'll give you the usual "insufficient driver memory etc." error, unfortunatelly. However, I've seen in reviews that the new Asus A632/636 ROMs has WM5 and the Widcomm stack (1.7? I think). So, if someone could dump the ROM from his/her device that has widcomm stack with wm5, that could be a good starting point I guess, but mamaich knows this part better.
The messaging app delay is interesting, and I have no clue why is that happening. However, since this rom has no mms profile (by a bug), it *seems* that it loads faster, so it can be related to MMS.

Thanks all for answer, but I have another question: fist time I've installed previous WM5 and made localization, then I downloaded new ROM and installed it and for now I've got in "programs" two version of files in russian and in english (some files such as Excel, powerpoint etc. are shown but not working). How can I solve this problem (during new installation)?
Thanks.

but anyway untill now i still can't make an extended rom which include auto config with a some operator on it like in my wm2003se...so now anyone here can help me add auto config with all south east asia gprs/mms configuration to the original extended rom of this version, and upload it here..i really need it,cause i use a lot of browsing.

Wow! There has been a lot more response to this than I thought there would be! It's good to see that the performance improvements are working and noticeable for most people. Apologies for the issues - I'll get to those as soon as I can.
Remember to HARD RESET after the ROM upgrade - otherwise the registry will be incorrect for your device. Also do not restore an old registry back onto your BA as this too will probably cause problems.
We really have mamaich to thank for 90% of the speed improvements - Ramdisk & Quantum Timing change enable most of the performance tweaks.
Since there is so much interest in this, I'll be working on it again when I get back home. With a bit more time I'm sure we can solve the last remaining issues.
Back home on the 23rd, so I'll probably work on it that night. ;-)
BTW: Surfing Xda-dev on my BA now. :D

HI I have some problems during the update. When i run the devicedata.exe on my PPC i get the following
P H 2 0 B W W E AT%CID? 5 . 0 3 . 0 2 1.1.9.106 1.15.00 % 4
Could any one tell me what i'm doing wrong as i'm unsure what "so" value to use when using xda3nbftool.exe
thank you
I think "so" is "AT%CID?".
I too have this problem which seems weird as when I upgraded to WM2005 the device data said my so was o2___001. I tried this but it said it was not for my device.
Screwloose: Any success?
Anyone: Does anyone know why the 'So' has changed?
Kind regards
Leo
I retryed every possible solution, changing the 'so' values to anything from o2___001 to AT%CID? however nothing worked..
The Device Data states that the device is P H 2 0 B with a space after each character which cannot be right, and that the Operator is AT%CID?, the language however is correct WWE.
Attached is the output from DeviceData.exe.
When I perform an attempt at using the upgrade tool I get the following:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/files/12367yhfsufhauf.jpg
Next to the Error 100 there is a code, is this of any help? Why has my device settings changed?
Please get back to me!

Haha, really sorry for my post... made a slight mistake... the source of all my problems is............ I didn't go into bootloader
After a few hours of reading I gathered that the AT%CID? 'so' setting is simply because we are using unofficial versions of the software. You therefore need to use your previous settings that you used on a previous upgrade. So for instance, my operator setting was o2___001 when I upgraded to WM5 for the first time, so I used that. When I tried this before I got the message I printed before, this was because I hadn't went into bootloader and killed ActiveSync... so make sure you do this!!
At some point I will make the devicedata wiki more informative and include this.
Hope this is of any help to anyone who encounters this
Sorry for my post and thanks for your quick response KTamas!

Regarding the call problem (Call will be disconnected without any reason), Im experiencing it too, maybe Wizards here could find solution and fix it in the next update of the ROM.
On my case, the call will be diconnected after 10 to 20 seconds. I have to repeat it again, I thought it was just a network problem until someone calld me. He calld me several times and asking me why the call is being disconnected. So? this will be a serious problem? I dont want all my calls to be disconnected all the time..

Hi, This is my first post in XDA Dev, I have Pda2k. I upgraded it to wm5 and downgrade back to my original rom many times. and i learn that there are many problems to use wm5 on BA.
WM5 is a great OS but as we know that this is not an official rom for BA devices so it has many issues. I noticed that wm5 is remarkably slow than the original rom. So I finally decided to stay with my original rom as it gives me much better performance. I hope all issues with wm5 rom will be solved in future because I really want to use WM5.
Finally I want to thanks all those people who are working and spending thier time to solve issues of new people like me. I appreciate You Guyz very much to research and help regarding Upgrading BA to wm5. You are really doing a good Job here. Please Keep it up.
Thanks.

Well, after several tries and eventual failures, I'm afraid I'm going to have to give up on this hack. It's just too flaky and in the same places install after install. The biggest show stopper is that email doesn't get sent. I can hit the send button and it dumps it into the outbox but it never actually goes anywhere. Then there's the issue of speed where it starts out fast enough after flashing but within the day it slows to the point of being practically unusable. Especially when taking it out of the cradle and disconnecting it from activesync. More than a handful of times I've given up on it's recovering and reset the unit. Beyond those two big problems are several minor ones, such as media player not functioning correctly, it's constantly wanting to connect to GPRS when it's already connected to Wifi and the midlet manager not working correctly. And that's not even including WM5 limitations, such as the loss of printing capability and not being able to use MultiIE. Sorry but it's back to 2003se for me with the BA which will probably be shelved for a real WM5 phone as soon as T-Mobile releases their's later this month. I understand that thing is supposed to kick some serious ass. :-)

Yes, I noticed that. The big difference between this and the previous hack is that the problems with this one are consistent across installs. Problems with the v2a hack seemed to differ with every flash so I guess you could say this one is more stable even though it appears to have more problems. What I considered the last straw for me with all these ROMs was the huge length of time between the phone getting a call and the phone indicating there is a call. It was really maddening to call it and watch it draw the notification window border, sit there and catch it's breath, draw the window content, catch it's breath, draw the today screen that wasn't covered....several times, catch it's breath and then finally get around to that first ring. I know you can expand the length of time before voice mail kicks in but that still doesn't help with impatient people like me. If I had more free time and the T-Mobile pda wasn't about to hit the shelves, I'd probably put time into improving the Himalaya hack which I still say was the best of the bunch.

17-02-2006, 08:25 AM
My observations after a week of use of the Tuatara ROM.
A lot more stable, and responsive to screen taps. Programs/Settings take maybe a fraction of a second longer than the original 2003SE, but that is something I can live with. Bluetooth disconnects after 30 minutes for me, Wi-Fi is OK. The battery life seems a little diminished (as compared to Mamaich's v2a), especially during call times. Not as much while listening to music, which I do a lot. Messaging response is also within tolerable limits. If it were a second slower, I think the delay would have shown. Still not as swift as 2003SE. MMS not there and would love to see a working version of it.
So here come the annoying bits:
Call delay. Other party hears upto two rings on their phone, till it registers in mine..Goes upto 3 rings when the phone is docked. I reckon the ActiveSync/Wm5 combo is still not smooth and somewhere a higher priority is given to sync activity rather than the radio. Also, it seems (conjecture) that the issue is also related to .wav ringtones. A midi ringtone is a lot quicker in coming up as opposed to a wav tone. I think this was pointed out earlier.
Altough my device ActiveSync disconnects immediately on removal from docking station, it sleems sluggish as though it is actively sending some packets and waiting for a response..wonder if this might have to do with TCP/IP Ack/Syn..
Nevertheless, I think this community deserves a huge round of applause for persistence and ingenuity shown by all you developers. I think we have come a long way since the since the first alpha versions of WM5 1433. Thanks Tuatara, Mamaiach, KTamas, Buzz and all of you.

I havent tried this rom yet but have applied most of the performance tweaks to mamaich's last wizard port and i find that rom is stable with only a few crashes due to O2 plus version 2 which can slow the device down coming out of standby, with my only problems being notes not syncing (will test with Outlook 2003) and WMP using a lot of memory. I have not had to overclock and speed is only an issue when actively using GPRS or WiFi. Looking forward to the next release of roms from the gurus, thanks again for making this device a true all-round great performer.

I came across this & posted a message before on this message. In short, you need to make your 'so' not what your current device data says, but what it said before. ie. o2___001 or the t-mobile equivalent. If your unsure, search the forum for list of blueangel models.
Secondly, make sure you have put your phone into the bootloader when your upgrading.
Hope this works

Aaaaah what the heck, I'm playing with WM5 again. Replaced some of the wm5 drivers with ones from wm2003se. WiFi works (I don't have a wifi router so I can't really test anything else, but it turns on), Keyboard works and seems to be perfect (I need to do more testing though), WM2003SE's rilgsm.dll makes the phone part dead though, which is too bad because I think this is the source of the GPRS slowdown.

I have noticed that when I use the device with Flght Mode On, in other words with the phone off, it works perfect, there is no keyboard issues, no MediaPlayer issues no GUI refresh issues, it works perfect. do you think that maybe we should start playing around with the phone part of the system? or do something to it? like use the 2003 drivers or somehow integrate them or something?
has anyone else experieced this?
- C
Interesting point and I've noticed that the phone part is probably the main source of the slowdowns. The problem is that at the moment I can't do anything with the phone part. I've tried to replace the driver with the WM2003SE drivers and that didn't work and I have no other ideas so far. Next week i'll be busy and i won't really have time to play with ROMs (I'M back to WM2003SE for now), so it's up to Mamaich and Tuatara for now, hope they can find something.
One thing that just came into my mind is that someone could try is to try the new Himalaya WM5 ROM's phone driver (rilgsm.dll, this file is for sure, maybe other dlls are related to phone too) and see if that works. I don't know about WM5's speed under Himalaya though.

To mamaich: What driver is used for the screen (Drawing the GUI etc.)?2 drivers - ddi_d3d.dll from Himalaya ROM for Direct3D support, and patched ace_ddi.dll from WM2003SE ROM (I've patched the version check).
Also, are there any other way to edit the priority of something than the Priority256 key? There may be some driver-specific keys

Aaaaah what the heck, I'm playing with WM5 again. Replaced some of the wm5 drivers with ones from wm2003se. WiFi works (I don't have a wifi router so I can't really test anything else, but it turns on), Keyboard works and seems to be perfect (I need to do more testing though), WM2003SE's rilgsm.dll makes the phone part dead though, which is too bad because I think this is the source of the GPRS slowdown.I've already played with 2003SE drivers. Most of drivers in cooked ROMs are from 2003SE, and I've also played with ril dlls, with the same result.
Currently I don't have time, but porting the latest himalaya ROM is in my plans.

I haven't seen anyone mention this, but I have noticed that when I am typing a message, regardless of whether it is an email or a text message, the keyboard legs and missed letters. However, this does not seem to happen in any other program. It is isolated to within the messaging application (pocket Inbox/Outlook).
Is there something I need to do to speed it up here?
Also, messages open VERY slowly for me. It takes about 7-10 seconds to open each and every message.

Hi all,
I have just upgraded my phone to the TuMa rom and everything works fine and quick :), with the execption of the phone :( .
When I dial a call it immeadatly hangs up, then when I dial the number again (pressing talk) it dials but takes about 10-20secs for it to finish dialing and then hangs up after a minute, well that what the call timer says.
Has anyone else had this problem??
I had this problem with Version 2a port aswell, but never with the old 3.1 version.
Thanks

I have the same problem The phone is very slow and some times answering a call produces a lot of static and poor connection or disconnects the caller. If I call out the connection is fine.
Is this a known issue?

Hey all users,
Thanks mamaich, Tuatara, Ktmas masters of this, and all others involved in making this possible!
I upgraded to WM5 (v2a) 3 weeks ago and loved it. Great at looks, a bit sluggish though. Although sluggishness it was a great release, Most things worked, with ease. I then upgraded to (v1 Tumas) supposedly better but not what I think. Fast at first, then 1 week later very sluggish worse that v2a, Didn't boot up a couple of times and locked up on Startup items, like shutxp and screen rotation. Finally got it running, but afraid to soft reset it now! It maybe time to downgrade to WM2003SE, unless another version comes available. The drivers from WM2003 copied over to WM5 sounds good, and may solve some problems, but there are too many bugs for a fix that way.
For a few more days I'll stick with WM5 and then down to 2003SE soon.
Thanks again to everyone.
Regards,
Sunny
p.s. Also a bug with the Close (X) program with Spb Pocket Plus and WM5, although it should work it doesn't for me. It is a great feature and kills Apps instantly after use rather than minimize that WM5 alone does.

Hi Everyone,
I'm back from my vacation now, and will be working on the issues which have been raised in the forum. I'm aware of the MMS issue, and I did forget to add in a CAB file with the missing ATL, and MFC library DLL's which I'd removed (arrrgh!), since there appear to be updated versions now. I thought that these files are probably best not stored in ROM, which makes more space for other more "important" items to be added instead. These were things I'd accidentally done in my haste to get a ROM together before I left.
I wasn't expecting the kind of response to this release as has happened, I thought only some ROM 'hackers' might look at it. But since it appears to be quite usable, I'm going to try and get the ROM caught up to expectations ASAP!
Most (if not all) of the work on this ROM was done by mamaich, and the only parts I've changed have been file, application and registry based for performance, JVM operation and usability. The xxxx.RGU files which I'd included in the ZIP archive are the core pieces of the changes I'd made.
I have decomposed a number of different ROMs (including the Himalaya Port, the latest Himalaya from Buzzdev, and recent Wizard and Atom ROMs), and will be experimenting with using XScale compiled applications/code instead of OMAP compiled elements, and see if this will improve the performance and reliability of the ROM.
I'll also incorporate all the other fixes which have been made over this time too! Naturally all this will take some time, but I hope to have something available for Monday.
Back to "real-life" work for now ...
Regards,
Tuatara.

Welcome back, Tuatara. If you need someone who can hard reset his device almost anytime, just ask me? i can betatest your ROMs if you want ;)
The very first thing I'd like to get fixed is the notifications. They are just unacceptably slow, it drives me nuts. Anything else works fairly well, even GPRS since I'm back pretty much to PIE instead of Opera. But those notifications....tooo slow, way tooo slow, I just don't really use MSN messenger for now, cause a notification comes in and the device hangs for like 3-4 secs, and that is too much.

Ok ... I'm working on one now which will merge some XScale compiled elements from other ROMs, and implement the bug fixes as listed in the thread. This should hopefully speed up some things further, and make them more stable (not OMAP code). I hopefully will have something operational later in the day ... you'll be the first to know for a beta test. :-D

Hmmm ... I'm not sure what could be causing that. I don't seem to experience that, but I'll check into what that could be. Similarly I don't have the disconnect issue (hang-up), but I'll see if I can find anything with respect to that as well.

yes..there is a 3-5 second delay in the bt takin the call to the headset..the only choice is to pick the phone up a bit late..u cant expect much from a workaround..
these are the settings:
1. Under "If window is Active:", add in "Desktop"
2. Under "If window is Running(full caption) :", add in "Desktop"
3. Set "Unlisted caption:" to "Turn On"
2. Set "Wireless control:" to "Microsoft (SDK)"

I've posted about this already in the post. You are getting this because you are using an operating system which is not meant for the XDAIIs, ie. not o2.
If you know what your provider code was before you upgraded then use that, if not you will need to check this list (http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=15510&highlight=operator+model+list) to find your model and provider.
Hope this helps

Hi Guys,
Well this weekend was spent living in WM5 ROMs (to the detriment of sleep, and family - *sigh*).
I've integrated all the fixes which have been listed in the forum, and have added a few other useful (small) things to the ROM. This like modifying it so that the Voice Dial can be disabled simply by changing the button assignment and (optionally) deleting the sddaemon link from the startup. Utility functions to control everything using New Menu or similar (if you wish), etc. However, I'm not quite ready to put another version out as yet. I have another task in the works ...
I've been "upgrading" a number of the OMAP compiled code portions from the Wizard with newer or same versions of XScale compiled parts from other ROMs (Jasjar, Himalaya, etc.) and have again achieved some performance improvements. But by upgrading not just the code, but also versions, I have also run into some "neat" new problems. Good news so far though - not a single dead ROM built! ... must have luck on my side!
But, since I don't want to have everyone trying this new (alpha) version I know to have flaws, I need some more time for it to be 'robust' enough to (beta) test. 8)
Update again in a day or two ...

I haven't directly looked into notification speed-up performance (that's what beta testers are for :D), but I may be on track to find something which could be hindering it. My belief is that the largest problem is in the audio layer, and something blocking/pending/waiting when there is a WAV (or other audio) file to play. Still searching ...
I do use MSN and SKYPE (primarily for work) on my desktop, and use Agile Messenger (MSN) and SKYPE on WM5 - but only when I need it active.

Ok ... I think then I'm on the right track. I'm hunting through things, but I have not had much luck for this version as yet.
For the BT issue, mamaich has suggested that I look into integrating the Widcomm stack (available on buzzdev) which is working under WM5 and appears to not have the disconnect issue, but unfortunately it has a broken headset profile.

Well, BT Voice Dialing was not 100% anyways. All I got it to do is pick the mic up. I never was able to get the command to go through the BT Mic [or hear the responce in the BT Headset].
So, I rather have BT Headset that works all the time then a not even 50% working BT Voice Dialing.

AFAIK voice dialling works fine with Cyberon's voice dialler. Previously with WM2003SE on the Eten M500 and now with WM5 on the Wizard. It was one of the most requested features when running the Widcomm stack on WM2003SE and so far this feature has still not appeared. I too would like working bluetooth but voice dialling is something i have wanted for a while. Without it your BT headset is effectively only working at 50% of its capability; most headsets are able to initiate voice dialling with a single button press as well as answering incoming calls. Combined with a Jabra BT800 you get excellent hands-free dialling abilities.
I understand your point about getting a working bt stack but voice dialling is one of the things WM5 offers and i would hate to lose that functionality. The fact is we are running a hacked OS and I fully appreciate that any extra functionality we get out of it is definitely a bonus. I was just giving my .02$, however it turns out is ok. I know these guys are working really hard to give us a working rom and thank them for their efforts.
odie3
27-02-2006, 07:20 PM
I do not disagree with your POV but I do not use Cyberon's voice dialler I use MS Voice - since you do not have to teach it anything. But with the WM5 ROM I am using now BT will not even stay on if I leave it plug in to a power source [which is what I always do while driving].
Heck, IMO Voice Dialing with MS Voice should have been a default in WM2003 and since it was not, it should have been added in WM5! But if it means going to Wincomm until MS BT is corrected that is fine by me. Rather have something working all the time now while MS BT is figured out in WM5.

So you say you're able to make a cal with yuor jabra without press any command on your Ba?
With my hbh 800 it's impossibile....
Which's the difference?

Update: Turns out it was a local GPRS outage! The ROM works great.
Since upgrading to this ROM, my GPRS no longer seems to work.
The phone connects to GPRS without any issues, but then can't seem to transfer any data. For example, IE sits at the "Locating..." prompt. Other apps can't use the connection either.
I also tried upgrading my radio from 1.08.00 to 1.15.00 - no luck fixing the GPRS issue.
Has anyone seen similar issues either with this ROM or with some other ROM in the past? I've tried tweaking everything I can think of, and am about to resort to downgrading back to a different ROM.
Device info:
T-Mobile MDA III
ROM version: 5.03.02 WWE
ROM date: 03/02/05
Radio version: 1.15.00
Protocol version: 1337.45
ExtROM version: BAWIZ3.TM
Thanks for all your help!

Hi Everyone ...
I'm working on the TuMa v1.1 (Tuatara / Maimach) ROM, and it's coming along quite well. I believe the performance is again improved, and I also believe I've fixed a number of recognised problems - but only testing will tell!
I've therefore decided to go for "public beta" rather than "private alpha" testing ... and will upload it for anyone who wants to try out the updates I've added into the ROM.
I'm presently ensuring that the core elements in mamaich's MissingFiles.CAB (i.e. Pocket Excel, Pocket Powerpoint, etc.) are actually contained in the ROM, and not in an external CAB. So I'm removing "lesser" core elements (like Midlet Manager, Camera, and MMS) and putting these into external installers.
Before you scream ... I'm building up CABs with these items, along with corrected registry changes in the installers, so that everyone can better choose what they wish to install.
For example, those without a Camera in their phone can use the ROM directly, and others with a Camera, can install the Camera.CAB file with everything auto-congfigured. Don't use MMS ... then don't install it. 8)
Also, small 'annoyances' are now easy to remove - anything you don't want enabled/run at startup, just remove the link from the "Startup" folder, and it's gone. The applications are in the ROM space (32Mb), so these apps aren't using any of the precious Storage anyways. I believe that this should hopefully keep the ROM minimalists, the 'pack it full of toys', and everyone inbetween happy.
Anyways ... I do wish to add a few "utilities" to the ROM - one of those being the dopod SMS Backup. It's simple, easy to use, and does the job. Gives a basic backup of SMS, and in combination with ActiveSync can backup all of the "core" data from a phone very easily.
So I ask ... can someone who speaks Chinese translate for me the screens and dialogs in this application? If this is possible in the next few hours, I'll incorporate it into the ROM. :-) Send me the translation in a PM please, and I'll modify the resources.
Anyways ... I'll keep you posted for the v1.1 release ... with luck, it'll still be tonight!

Sounds good Tuatara. The "optional" nature of components should work well. Look forward to the release. Thanks again.

Yes! Thank god the Camra is optional now!!! No more slow down on my SX66 until I can get the no-camra fix installed!
Your post sounds really great!!!!

Sounds very interesting - I don't suppose you have fixed/reduced the notification problem?
Also, I did a wee search and weren't sure if you had seen that toenailed had translated some things into English purely by working it out dependant on the results I imagine. Take a look here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=18919&highlight=). Sorry, I couldn't check if the version you had was this altered one.

were you able to fix the phone lag from when the call is coming through to when it actually rings. that would be soooo nice

I've seen toenailed's partial translation, and that's the main reason I'd like to get a full translation done. It's a useful tool, and I'd love to integrate it into the (next) ROM when I can.
Hopefully the notification problem is a bit better in this version (at least I hope so). Not sure though ... only testing will tell.

I'm finding that using a WAV file instead of WMA, MID, or other type of file appears to give a better response time in the new TuMa v1.1 ROM I've just put out.
More experimentation will be required for this though ... so we'll have to see what the feedback is ...

The new ROM is great!
Much faster, and stable too(well, as much as you can tell in 2 hours use)
Some nice utilities. No problems found so far.
Thanks Tuatara, you're not such an old lizard as your name would suggest!

First of all, this ROM is filled with many great stuffs & performs much faster!!! Thanks! ;)
Not sure if anyone has this... The top of the screen seems to covered by 1 px of blue & black line.
Btw, when flashing this 1.1 ROM, do we need to include those "boot.rgu", "default.rgu", etc from version 1.0 into the folder? By not doing so, all my installed applications are still there after the upgrade.

Thanks ... but I'd strongly suggest upgrading to v1.2 now for sure ... bugs fixed, problems addressed, features added, and more robust.
And well ... I might just be an old lizard ... been a 'hacker' for many, many years now ... 8)
