To use an MDA III with the THB Bury hands free car kit you have to change the WAVEDEVdll file with a new one provided by THB BURY. This is quite easy with WM2003 but with WM2005 it will not let me replace it because it is a ROM file. Can anyone tell me if this is possible. If it is how, and please keep it simple.

Instead of removeing, can't you rename the original ?
In the worst case :
Rename the THB dll to THB-wdef.dll
do a search throug the registry, and change alle references tp wavedef.dll to THB-wdef.dll
It should do the same thing.

Copy your wavedev.dll you want to use (rename it to something like carkit.dll for example) to \Windows on your device. Then go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev and change the key "Dll" to whatever you want (in this case, carkit.dll). Turn off the device for 15 secs, do a soft reset.

thank you so much for all the help ( its so easy when you know how ) tried it in the car kit and I now have audio through the speaker ( including tom tom, media player, etc ). I now have to try it with a phone call, when I had it working with wm2003 I had a few problems with the external microphone. I will post the results and any more questions that may occur. I hope this topic will help other users running wm2005 and tt5.1 with the THB Bury car kit.
thanks again Alex.

What's special about the wavedef.dll ? If the Carkit gets the audio through a cradle or the headsetconnectro now software would be needed. Is it a Bluetooth carkit ?
If so.... Coiuld you get me a copy of the .dll ? :)

this is the replacement file that allows audio to pass through the bottom contacts allowing a mda III to work with a THB BURY car-kit. If this is useful to you for that or any other reason please post a reply so others can benefit from your experiences.
