Dear all 818pro(ENG OS)
The reason causing memory card disappear problem is dopod built-in software.(inside Extension Rom)
Only one method to solve, hard reset the PDA but without installed any built-in software as follow:
Right now I hard-reset the PDA, until the password setup, and then the PDA begin install build-in software...soft reset immediately.
If you used above hard-reset method which don't installed any built-in software. You only lost:
1. Smart Dailer
2. Built-in Voice Commander
3. Autoconfig
4. clearvue pdf
I used two days and everything work fine. You may ask why I so sure? Because I noticed the speed of reading memory card is different before which listed below:
1. Before using above mentioned method: When the PDA turn on (In sleeping mode and phone on mode), it need 1-3 seconds to read the memory card. If you installed Today Plug-in Software, you may found that it need 1-3 seconds to detect the memory card.
2. After using above mentioned method: When the PDA turn on, the PDA detect the memory card simultaneously.
As a result, I can assure this method can solved the memory card disappear problem.

Some experience would like to share with all user:
1. I installed all programs in the ROM. If someone installed programs in the memory card, please let me know the result.
2. I can installed back the smart dialer software. Please search this forum to download.
3. When you connected GPRS, a 'Disconnect' button (and Timer) to the Connection List for GPRS is disappeared. You can make registry hack to switch back.
Add a 'Disconnect' button (and Timer) to the Connection List for GPRS
To add a Disconnect button:
HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone\Flags2 = 8 (DWORD decimal)
To add a Disconnect button and a timer display showing how long GRPS is in use for the session:
HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone\Flags2 = 16 (DWORD decimal)
To disable both the Disconnect button and the timer:
HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone\Flags2 = 0 (DWORD decimal)
4. PDA can detect 'Phone Service Provider' automatically. However, when you need GPRS, you need manuel setup. I used 'PEOPLES' which is Hong Kong Service Provider and take as a Example setup:
Go to Setting > Connections > Tap Connections
1. Choose > My ISP - Add a new modem connection
2. You need to enter > a Name (Which name you like) and Select a modem [Cellular Line (GPRS)] > Next
3. Acess point name : Peoples.net > Next
4. Ignore the user name and password. > Finish

Hi sas90850,
What a good job you've done! Excellent!
I'm wondering whether this topic is the instruction you said (WM5 smart dial (http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=37058&highlight=smart+dialer))
or you could point out where I can download the smart dialer software and have an installation instruction, thanks.
I've 818Pro and would like to do the same "UPGRADE"...

Dear all user
you can download the built-in smart dialer software as following link. Make sure you download the "SmartDialing_enable_0915_signed.CAB" only.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=32458&highlight=smart+dialer
Copy the .cab file to PDA and install. Must soft reset.
If anyone installed software in the memory card, please post here whether the disappear problem is solved. :?:

Just to let everyone know that you already have this same file as well as the GPRS disconnect button CAB file in your own Dopod 818Pro's Extended_rom. You can browse and copy files in this hiden folder with GSfinder.

This worked for me also with the jamin. I soft reset after hard resetting and it gave me back rom and fixed the sd issue. Thanks :D
Edit: After soft resetting my device, the start menu once again doesn't show the correct icons for programs loaded on the sd card?? The programs will open and work but the icons are displayed?

Hi, this method seems to have solved most of my Jamin troubles too! Thanks!
I need just some help to get the GPRS timer: I don't find the registry. Is it in the HKEY_CURRENT USER OR THE HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE? I found the Control Panel\Phone, but not the "Flags 2" registry that needs changing as described.
Many thanks!

Dear Fidipaldi
You need to add a new registry. Make sure you use DWORD Value. The location is shown below.
Add a 'Disconnect' button (and Timer) to the Connection List for GPRS
1. To add a Disconnect button only:
Go to HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone
Add Name = 'Flags2' DWORD Data = 8
2. To add a Disconnect button and a timer display showing how long GRPS is in use for the session:
Go to HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone
Add Name = 'Flags2' DWORD Data = 16
3. To disable both the Disconnect button and the timer:
Go to HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone
Add Name = 'Flags2' DWORD Data = 0

Dear mikewchandler
Question :After soft resetting my device, the start menu once again doesn't show the correct icons for programs loaded on the sd card?? The programs will open and work but the icons are displayed?
1. Copy the program *.exe file which installed in the SD Card.
2. Use File Explorer:
Go to Windows\Start Menu\Programs  Paste Shortcut
You will get the programs icon.

Dear SAS,
Many thanks for your help!!
It works great! I also managed to get the smart dialer back. The only application that is missing is Clearview.
So far my Jamin does not seem to crash on a regular basis as it did before. It must be the add on software that made the device crash.
Finally I can enjoy the device. Thanks again!

Here's what I usually do on a new device or after a hard reset. I have about 10 progs on my sd card (total commander, tweaks2k2, etc...) and I have created shortcuts to them and placed them in a folder on my sd card. I then copy those and paste them in the /windows/start menu/programs folder and everything works well. I've noticed this quirky behavior on the jamin so far?
I did what you recommended by not installing the ext rom. I'm happy with a quicker device and more rom; however, I'm still having this little issue with the icons not appearing correctly in the start menu? Kind of strange. The white and blue default box is what's showing up (as if there is no shortcut icon) but the progs open just fine?

After Hard Reset and Review the extended rom,
There are serveral progarms avaliable for install
I just wonder what program from Extended Rom should we normally install in order to make phone become functional as the standard automatic install of extended rom?
Secondly, what each one of them is for? does anybody has information?
Thank you very much

re: Mike Chandler
Try this....
goto settings, menu and unclick just one of the programs in question. select ok and then checkout the start menu. Should be well again. Then go back and reselect your menu button you unclicked earlier. All is well. I'm not sure if this is a permanent solution or not but it does work.

Thanks :D Yes it worked temporarily and then after a soft reset...same. I've narrowed it down a bit. The progs show fine in the bottom of the start menu (recently run progs) but if I add them to the top part of the start menu, they show fine until a soft reset....then they don't again. What I also noticed is if I copy the .exe and paste it in the start menu it shows fine....the only problem was when I copied the .exe and pasted a shortcut to the .exe. Anyway, I've settled on a fix. A few of the progs that didn't display correctly, I've just added to ilauncher.
Don't spend any more brain power on it for now....it must be something specific to me as others aren't posting problems like this. Thanks again :D
@mikewchandler
First of all it's nice to see you again on this forum!
To fix your problem try installing Signed_IconsDll.sa.cab from the extended rom. This should fix your problem!
@ALL
Regarding the SD card issue, the problem seems to be originating from the file Signed_SD_Driver.sa.cab. Not installing just this cab will also solve the problem.
I would suggest installing the following cabs as well as these improve system stability or add functionality:
CAB-ConnectionSpeedMax.sa
CAB-Shortcut-MMS1-JAVA5XX-CV-Dopod........
CAB-WapPushSMS
Signed_Disable_ErrorReport.sa
Signed_DisconnectButton_3s.sa
Signed_IconsDLL.sa
Signed_PIE_View_Default.sa
Signed_Prophet_DopodAsia_UA.sa
Signed_Version.sa
SmartDialing_enable_0915_signed

Thanks kta....it's great being here but I'm going to miss the eten community. :?
Thanks for the tips. Yeah, I didn't install the ext rom at all....I should have mentioned that (if I didn't?). Thanks again. :D
Edit: Where's the best place to get the files off the ext rom? I don't guess I know how to extract the ext rom to copy before hard resetting, soft resetting to keep it from installing. Hope that runon sentence makes sense.?
OK, what you need to do is this:
1) Hard Reset your device (don't worry about backing up the Extended ROM)
2) Soft Reset before the customisation starts
3) Install GSFinder+ from here http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/gsfindertq.shtml
Install the WM2003 version.
4) Load GsFinder and in the path type "\Extended_rom". This will show you the contents in the Extended ROM.
5) Install the CAB files mentioned in my above post
6) Voila! :)

kta...just to let you know, after installing a few of the .cabs (including the one you suggested), it didn't help the quirky issue I was having with the icons in the start menu. I noticed I had 3mb less of ram and my device was considerably slower.....so, I hard reset and didn't install any of the ext rom. It really, really helps the speed. Thanks anyway. :D
What else did you install other than the ones I mentioned above? I only installed the ones above and have no problem with performance, icons disappearing, etc.

I think is just because of Signed_SD_Driver.sa.CAB that cause the SD card problem, what i did is just installed the programs according to config.txt, that can be found in extended rom, except Signed_SD_Driver.sa.CAB, and i do not face any SD card dissapear problem again. 8)

Hi kta,
After downloaded & installed GSFinder+ which you recommended, I didn't see any files in the path \Extended_rom.
Of course I added a path and typed \Extended_rom...(from Tool -> Direct path -> Edit -> \Extended_rom -> ok)
anything else? :(
Hi all,
This is my first post here. You guys are great.
I have the same SD card disappear problem and believe that Signed_SD_Driver.sa.CAB from the extended ROM is the cause.
Before installing the CAB, I never had such an SD card problem.
Then, I had it installed and tons of other software installed. My question is without hardresetting and not installing the Signed_SD_Driver.sa.CAB, is there any way to solve the problem ?
A lot of people including myself wish to solve the problem but do not want to hardreset the device :)
I look at the CAB, it installs 2 files (sdbus.dll & omap850_sdhc.dll) in \WINDOWS and some registry keys.
I am not sure if there are these two files from the OS ROM that we can replace the ones from the Extended ROM.
Thank you all.

If you used above hard-reset method which don't installed any built-in software. You only lost:
4. clearvue pdf
ClearVue PDF is in fact in the Dopod 818Pro ROM. To use this program, use file explorer to copy the file named "WTCVPDFV.exe" in /Windows and paste it as shortcut in /Windows/Start Menu/Program.

it is in ROM just delete it and reset that's all.
Thx, but the 'pull down menu' can only show up to 2 items (Main Memory and Extended ROM, no 'Storage Card').
I try to reg hack to '2'. Didn't work. So, I end up hiding the Extended ROM again....

I want to have a try to use sas's method to fix my problem, however, I don't found the mentioned CAB "Signed_SD_Driver.sa.CAB", but a "Signed_Patch_SD.sa.CAB" found. Is it the CAB file that produce the problem?
I would like to bypass my Ext. ROM installation, but after all, I would also like to have my patches / autoconfig installed. To make it work, is it just perform the 'bypass reset' and install all CAB (accoring to Config.txt) other than "Signed_Patch_SD.CAB" ?
Or, is the method of deleting "sdbus.dll & omap850_sdhc.dl" from Windows and resetting the machine work just like performing a bypass hard reset?

Tried it but it failed because these are ROM files and can't be copied...
Only way to get them back is to restore from ROM with hardreset.

Hi every one, this is my first post here, so do forgive me if I offend anything I shouldn't.
About the two files that ANOX point out in the Signed_SD_Driver.sa.CAB and the possibility of solving SD card dissappearing problem without hard reset, I had a little experiment and got an exciting result.
Just move these two files from \windows
After a soft reset, the sd card seems alway able to catch up the wake up call. no delay, no dissappearing,
Unit still working fine till now (about 8 hours), no other strange problems found. It will be great if any one find the SD card problem annoying give this simple process a try.[/b]

Hi Oainot,
Thanks for your reply. I use the resco explorer in the operation and find no difficulity in moving these files.
At first, I think the files can be moved by simple cut-past action, then I realize that I have check the "Hide the files in ROM" during the whole time. When I uncheck the option, these two files pop up and can't be moved.
But then again, if these two file are in ROM, how did I saw and move these two file in the first place? I really have no answer.
When I try to reverse the process, it turns out the files I moved and the files show up in ROM are different ones, the moved omap_850.dll is 36.41k, while the ROM version is 31.82k, the moved sdbus.dll is 46.91k, the ROM version is 44.15k. And, of course, can't over-write the files in use.
Interesting, right?
Maybe my traditional chinese 818 pro is slight different from yours, beside that, I have no reasonable explanation.
Any way, the simple movement really solve my problem without hard reset and reinstalled bunch of cabs. If any other can perform the same operation, it worth a try.
following is my OS version
ROM: 1.0.13.22 CHT (date 11/29/05)

Hope this will help.

If you don't already have a "my documents" folder on the sd card, create one...then the "my pictures" within that. They will save there just fine.

After the operation, those files are "recovered" from ROM instantly...and the file size is same as yours, too.
Now crossing my fingers.. hoping that the SD card issue will be solved, along with the auto reset problem...

Now crossing my fingers.. hoping that the SD card issue will be solved, along with the auto reset problem...
Thanks dude

Please do reply again if the sd problem solved.

Hi All,
I am happy to say that deleting sdbus.dll & omap850_sdhc.dll in \WINDOWS gets rid of the SD card problem for me.
It has been 3 days without a single SD card problem.
They can be deleted, just ignore the system message :)

The same problem - since two files both are ROM file, DELETE button will be disabled by using Resco Explorer.
How to delete them? :?

Hmmm, I use Resco Explorer 2005 to view the files, and then tap the files -> Move to... -> My Documents (or anthoer place you want), the file will be moved to the folder without any prompt.
The files seems to be "recovered" by the system afterward, but those "recovered" files is came from the ROM, not those from the Ext. ROM.
You may have a try.

What is the file size of those files?
The moved one of OMAP850_SDHC.dll is 36.41kb while the "recovered" one is 31.82kb
The moved one of SD_Bus.dll is 46.91kb while the "recovered" one is 44.15kb
Go check the Properties of the file, what are the attributes?
The original one from Ext. ROM has only "Archive"
But the "recovered" one has Read-Only, Hidden, System, and also "ROM".

I have the 818p for about a month, the auto-reset happens about three times in my notice.
I read novel on 818p, and there is a reader always running on it. If the auto-reset happens, the program will be closed. Two of the auto-resrt happened during charging (stand-by also), one during stand-by.
So, I do'nt have much experience in the auto-reset problem, hence it's not for me to say the SD problem solution can prevent auto-reset.
In the not-so-old day, when the two DLL were not removed, when I play the music in SD-card with WMP, if I paused and enter standby mode, after wake up, WMP always lost everything in playing list and prompt for permision to search "the newly inserted SD card". That, never happens now. I got a feeling that the SD problem is really solved.
I am starting to thinking that maybe the two DLL working now should be shared here, and someone with knowledge can make them patches to be tried on other units (simple copy/over-writing won't work). If there is someone willing to make the patch, please let me know. I'll be more than glad to provide my two DLL.

I've experienced (in my notice only) the SDCard problem about 3-4 times from the day I purchase, because I'm not always using my SD, so maybe I didn't realized the SD has disappeared :).
About the auto-reset problem, seen on this thread that most (or some) peoples solved the auto-reset problem by using the 'bypass Ext. ROM' operation', so I have a little hope... haha
Actually, I experienced auto-reset about 5 / 6 times from the day I purchase (I purchased my 818Pro on 17/2/2006), and I noticed that the problem started to exist from the day in install so many program, so I suspect the auto-reset problem should due to software conflict.
I always open up my Phone and Inbox, so I can notice any soft-reset.
Update:
After about 24 hours of stable operation, I haven't noticed any auto-reset and SD card problem. However, the SD card is performing considerably, unacceptably slow...
I tried to play a MP3 file by using Windows Media Player, the player buffer the song almost every 10 seconds...
I tried to play a AVI file by TCPMP, the player stopped when I tried to fast forward using the seek bar...
I tried to open MapKing v7 (which is installed on my SD Card), the machine almost hang! It used a minute to load the program...
How about yours?
I am now considering to recover the moved file again...sigh...
It must be the Ext. ROM problem....
[Update again...]
Sorry to bother...
I replugged the SD card, the speed is normal now...LOL

I dont' know if this is coincidental or not, but even after I hard resetted and avoided installing the rom2 files (except for MMS and Smartdial), the unit was still giving me the missing SD problem. One thing that seemed to do the trick was taking away the password protection from the device. The SD went missing 2x in one day while I had the password protection. It hasn't occurred in 1 week since I removed the password. The next thing to do is to put the password on again for a few days and see what happens.

OK, after 36 hours of stable operation, with the original OMAP850_SDHC.dll and SDBus.dll from the ROM, the SD card problem is solved and the auto-reset problem should be solved as well.
But another problem rose, after some period of time (I don’t know how long was it), the I/O speed of the SD card is dropped (to extremely slow), when I open my MapKing v7 (from the SD card), the system almost hangs and, after terminated the program, some data from the SD card disappeared. I need to replugged the SD card again to solve the problem (After re-plugging the SD Card, the files come back and the speed is back to normal). I experienced this problem twice (maybe I use my internal memory most of the time), from the time I moved the .dll out of my \WINDOWS.
Are those .dll are used to improve the speed of SD card I/O?
Could any one help?

Where you charging your device at the same time? I find the I/O speed of the SD card goes extremely slow if I charge the device with the SD card inserted.
My solution is to charge the device without the SD card inserted and everything is fine.

I haven’t participated in this forum since the time I owned the MDA II.
Anyway, after using JAM and Qtek S110 which were working almost perfect I bought the ATOM….total disaster…I’ve returned it. Now (since Feb 8 ) I have the JAMin.
Compared to ATOM, JAMin was working much better but I was having SD disconnect and random resets. I was prepared to follow the current “fix” of not installing the ext. ROM files. I was planning to do it this weekend. I’ve noticed a good price for a 4GB SD…so I’ve purchased it. 3 days ago the card arrived so “for hell of it” I’ve copied the contents of my current SD to it and put the card into JAMin. And now for the best part….NOT a single reset and the SD never went missing. Few more details: The original SD card was “regular speed” SanDisk 2GB, the new card is Transcend 150x 4GB (purchased from newegg.com). For ~$200 my JAMin works perfect (and I have 4GB of storage).

But we do need a ROM update as lucifera says...
Hi Lucifera,
By trial & error, it seems to me that the DLL causing the problem is only
omap850_sdhc.dll from the Ext Rom.
While waiting for a new ROM update, you may try using the below combination:
omap850_sdhc.dll from the OS ROM
sdbus.dll from the Ext ROM.
I have no idea if this would solve your SD card I/O speed issue,
but there will be months away until a new ROM update (I read it somewhere) :D

Thanks guys for explaining the prophet problem with SD card.
Now we can avoid prophet to auto reset and SD card disappearing by using the windows original files (OMAP850_SDHC.dll and sdbus.dll). But another problem has raised. Accessing to SD card takes very long time. Why this is possible:
+ SD card is not good (low-end) ?
+ SD card is formated not correctly (FAT 16, FAT 32, cluster size...) ?
+ Prophet ROM bug ?
+ WM5 bug ?
I really don't know the answer. Actually, after a period of time, your file explorer still report the SD card present, even if you had removed SD card from the device. So, I think this may be problem with "refreshing" SD card after power-on. May be, Dopod has fixed this error by their files (OMAP850_SDHC.dll and sdbus.dll) in extended ROM. But again, these Dopod files cause the device to loss SD card or auto resetting.
I don't know. When new ROM update will be availaible ?
Give me your opinions.
Thanks.

By removing and re-insertting the SD card again few times, we can force the device to recognize the SD card exactly. After that, the SD card speed is very fast. So we have to determine which file is involved to recognizing SD card while inserted, "omap850_sdhc.dll" or "sdbus.dll".
We also have to consider the SD card FAT table (card directory) caching mechanism.

This may help:
+ Using Total Commander to access the Extended ROM, then install \\Extended_ROM\Signed_SD_Driver.sa.CAB
+ Using Resco File Explorer v.5.35 (this version is compatible with WM5) to move the file "omap850_sdhc.dll" (only one file, we will continue using the file "sdbus.dll" from Extended ROM) to the other place.
This solution is working now for me. I will continue follow up.
Who have fixed by this way, please confirm the result.

I was running my Jamin without extended ROM relatively trouble free. I had experienced an SD card slow down a few times so I installed the SD card cab (above). I then deleted the omap850 file so that the Jamin would restore the original file. After 1 hour, it did a soft reset right in front of me
So I deleded the other SD card file quoted above, the Jamin restored that file. Now I just hope that the reset problem goes away again...I really don't like spontanious soft resets :(

That minds you have to install "\\Extended_ROM\Signed_SD_Driver.sa.CAB" to use "omap850_sdhc.dll" and "sdbus.dll". Only "omap850_sdhc.dll" is bad. So you will keep the new "sdbus.dll" and delete the new "omap850_sdhc.dll" by using Resco Explorer version 5.35.
I fixed this yesterday. All the day of yestoday my device worked well. But this morning, after charging last night, my SD again slowed. After a soft reset, everthing became O.K.
Atleast, one time soft reset per day can be accepted. I will look after the device tomorow morning.

Dear Matterhorn,
Please note that, Dopod 818 Pro and I-Mate Jamin hardwares are the same, but Dopod Extended Rom Files may be diffirent from Jamin Extended Rom Files.
So, you can try this: Install Signed_SD_Driver.sa.CAB from Dopod, that I attached here. Then remove only one file, OMAP...dll file.
I don't know about Jamin but hope this may help.

Ok. I tried a 2GB high speed 130X SD card I had been using in my Canon camera. It still slowed way down to the point of being unusable.
I did not charge or sync the device in any way during this time. It still did it.
So to me it just as bad without the ext rom installed, because now I have another SD card problem that happens more frequently.
To recap, here is what I do know.
• When I had the Ext Rom installed, my SD card would disappear about 2 to 3 times in 24 hours. I would have to soft reset to correct this problem
• I then did a hard reset and did not let the extended rom install. That problem is now solved. I now have a new problem where my sd card speed slows down every few hours to the point I can’t use it. Sometime just ejecting the card and reinserting it will fix this. Sometimes I have to do a soft reset.
• Neither problem seems to be related to regular or high
speed sd cards (I have tried both)
• Neither problem seems to be related to charging or syncing
(it seems to do it at random)
I guess my only course of action now is to reinstall the SD_patch.cab and try deleting one or the other files as mentioned earlier in this thread, and see if I get any results.
This is a shame. I really did like this phone. :( :(

Let's find the reason.
How did you bypass ext rom installation. Do a soft reset after hard reset, right ? After a hard reset, you will be ask to align the screen, then cut, paste something related with a dental doctor, right ? If you do a soft reset before this process finished, I might loss your alignment settings.
The second point to pay your attention is that, after fixing anything you want, you would like to soft reset the device. Do it by this way, press and hold on the power button till a message bos appear asking your confirm. Press "yes", the changes will be written permanantly to the device and the device will be completly off. You will lose nothing. Turn it on.
Good luck.

You might try emptying your SD to your PC, formatting it then copying all your files back. I also have done the hack where the omap850 file is deleted from the Windows directory, which is then restored my WM5 to another version of the file. Now I have a very solid Jamin device

Well I would like to report that my JAMin is running perfect now! For me the SD card slow down and or disapear fix was this......
I did a hard reset and did not install the ext rom. I also did not install a couple third part apps. (which I think is the real problem)
The third party apps I did not install are PocketZenPhone, PhoneAlarm by Pocket Max, and MS voice command.
I'm 99% sure that PhoneAlarm was the problem. A couple of other people over at HowardForums also say it PhoneAlarm on theirs as well.
My guess is any Today screen plugin that has a tendency to have memory leaks could be causing this SD slow down and or disapear problem.
From reading there might a few more programs that cause the same result, but as discussed PhoneAlarm was causing the problem for me.

I also installed PhoneAlarm Version 1.30.03 and don't have problem. What problem you encounter?
Basically to recreate the problem setup a switch from the night profile (radio off) to say home at a point in the future that is perhaps an hour later. Then put the unit in standby. When the unit wakes up and switches away from the night profile, the SD card is gone.
Notable is that if the profile switch is scheduled for only a few mins into the future the SD card problem doesn't occur. This fact is why I initially thought the program was working properly.

I was having reboots all the time. I saw it reboot twice within 30 min. I did the omap850 delete yesterday and haven't had a single one since. I currently have a 1 gig SD (mini with adapter from my KJam), overclocked to 224, custom dialpad skin and it is running great. I went ahead and did a backup now that it is stable. Now I am just waiting for the A2DP update.

First, thanks everyone for the insights however I am still having both the SD Card being lost and the Random Soft Reset issues. I have a Dopod 818Pro (WWE) and since day one I have not installed Ext ROM.
I tried the fixes mentioned on this thread (except loading some additional files from Ext ROM other than the SD card one). But I'm still getting the issues.
Here's my thought.....If someone here is gifted enough to come up with a small program to install on the device that would send a pulse or something to the SD Card say every 20 minutes or so to force the SD Card to keep in touch with the device, could this work?
My thinking is that somehow the device is losing the connection to the SD card if I do not turn it on at least once every 1/2 hour or so. I especially notice the Soft Reset issue at night when the device is next to my bed charging on the night stand. During the day it loses the SD Card if I haven't turned it on in about a half an hour or so.
Any thoughts?????

The thread seems to have diverted a bit from the original implications that the SA_Signed_SD_Driver.cab was the cab file to blame for the "Missing SD Card" problem.
All I did to my Dopod 818 Pro is bypass the Extended ROM installation after a hard reset and manually install the cab files I mentioned in page 1 post, OBVIOUSLY NOT INSTALLING SA_Signed_SD_Driver.cab!
However, one must realise that ROM versions vary a little. Imate and Dopod, for example, are running on different ROM versions. My version is 1.0.13.21. This method, therefore, is only guaranteed to work on this ROM version and any other versions that others may claim they have it working on.

Ok folks....I hard reset my Dopod 818Pro last night. I bypassed the Ext ROM however I only loaded the following cab's from the Ext ROM:
Connection Speed Max, WAP Push SMS, Signed DisconnectButton, Signed Icon DLL, Signed Prophet DopodAsia, Signed Version SA. All of which were recommended by kta here on the forum.
I did NOT install anything else from the Ext ROM. I wiped my 2GB SanDisk Ultra II card clean and reformatted it. I then meticulously loaded the following Programs into the DEVICE ROM:
SBSH PocketBreeze 5.12 (Previously resided on the SD Card)
SBSH PocketWeather 1.3.1 (Previously resided on the SD Card)
SBSH ContactBreeze 1.2 (Previously resided on the SD Card)
SBSH i-Launcher 2.3.0.1 (Previously resided on the SD Card)
ScaryBear Notification
ScaryBear Clear Notify
DinarSoft MemMaid (v1.5)
SPB Backup (v1.1)
AvantGo (Latest version)
Lakeridge WisBar Lite
Adrian HTTPMail
On the 2GB SD card I have loaded:
Resco File Explorer/Registry Editor (v5.35)
Resco PhotoViewer (v5.32)
Resco Sudoku
MX Converter
SPB Finance
Time Calculator
All music and video files for WMedia10 (about 530MB worth)
Well folks, all was going well today (the device did not auto reset itself in the night on the charger on my bed stand, yeah!!) until about 5 hours into my work day, it happened. SD Card went missing in action. I had to perform a soft reset. I noticed that the device had already done a soft reset on its own while on my charger in the car (I have three of the programs on the SD Card listed in the "Start Menu" and the icons had gone blank, fyi that what I like about those icons disappearing is that I get a visual that the device did soft reset!) Anyhoo...the device has now lost my SD Card 3 times today total....AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!
On the last occurance I noticed something....When I clicked a program in my start menu that resides on my SD Card the little window went on its endless chasing itself in a circle I got so frustrated that instead of doing a soft reset, I simply pulled the SD Card out and stuck it in again immediately. Well, it started working again. However I lost my "ratings" in the music files (oh well). Is this safe, pulling the SD Card out with the device on?
Any ideas or suggestions would be great!! I'm glad others here are experienceing no more problems but I wish I was one of those people.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks all for letting me VENT......

@hideg & @anox
Thank you guys, replacing sdbus.dll & omap850_sdhc.dll from \windows solved the auto reset/memory card disappearing problem for me - running w/o problems for days now. Enjoy your Dopod.
Hi Lucas0511,
Great to hear that :)
But this is just an unofficial temporary workaround we can try before we get a patch from the vendor.
This might not fix everything or anything at all for someone.
I have just seen a new SD card driver patch from some Dopod guy.
Looks like they are working on it to officially issue the patch or new ROM update.
Cheers,
Anox.

Thank you kta, anox, hideg and All,
I moved the 2 files under \Windows omap850_sdhc.dll and sdbus.dll (29/11/2005) out to a different folder and did a soft reset. The SD disappearance problem has gone for a whole day so far. I used to notice the SanDisk 2GB SD disappearance avery hour as I have all my programs and data installed in it including today screen programs like RSS news reader and others.
One thing I've noticed that I can't see any files with the same filenames as the above. Are they hidden being ROM or WM5 system files? I'm using the generic File Explorer.
