Have you tried this?
I've never had a go, but would love a bit of North and South:
http://pocketinsanity.sourceforge.net/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,37/func,select/id,4/

Off topic - anyone ever thought: the commodore 64 could do simple text to speech. The BBC had it built in. SpyHunter on the BBC had sampled speech. And yet, notice how hard it is to get simple text to speech on a 500mhz phone? Flite is fat and still sounds like stephen hawkings after installing the Extended Rom dialer (http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=40342&highlight=dialer). Stoopid.

Pocket Insanity works but isn't perfect, the developer is actively working on making a better version or HTC Universal owners though.
Im able to play Dungeon Master on it though. :D

tried insanity but got very confused when it was asking for kickstart files etc.

then thought i would try pocketdos with an old pc version of championship manager but when launching cm it errors on needing vga. even if i am in vga mode.

any more help on the insanity program?

thanks

Kickstarts are the equivalent of OS Roms on Windows Mobile. You'll have to warez around for them, they're probably still copyright, but I'm sure if you check his forum somebody will have them hanging around.

Also check out abandonware sites. They occasionaly have them.

Dear timb551,

Here i uploaded the needed rom files and workbenchs for Amiga Emulator POCKETUAE... Amiga was a great machine and still the market owes lots of technology to Jay Miner " father of Amiga" or his Amiga... I am one of the lucky man who bought the first 50 Amiga 500 in Turkey...R.I.P. AMIGA... I will never forget the days i lived with you or your technology...

Fully agree with the Protochip - people who never used the Amiga can never fully appreciate it....it was already multitasking stuff in 1987 or so when the PC (and others) were simplistic text boxes.

How I wish someone resurrected the Amiga - properly.

Yeah, completey OT, but they've screwed up the new Amiga more then if they'd let the original die and be nicely remembered.

But I have to say, I think I had more fun on the Amiga then on any other system. I think I spent YEARS making the ultimate WorkBench disk, even throwing in the occasional rolling on the floor fit while PowerPacker unpacked my executables.

I remember laughing when I thought about mouse drivers on the PC being bigger then my whole Workbench disk... we've only gone up a factor of a thousand or so now to boot our OS :)

I still dearly love my A500. A600 was for girls, A1200 was a bad ass machine. I even still have an A1000. There's a name I haven't heard in a loong time... How cool was that - booting Dragon's Lair WITHOUT a kickstart to make maximum use of system memory. That's some hairy hacking... Happy days.

But yeah >wiping tear from eye< has anyone got a good Amiga emulator working? I'd love to have a blast on Defender of the Crown... (I highly recommend Slay on the PocketPC if you want a similar game)

I am setting myself up for some serious flaming here, and it is not intentional, my mates all had amiga 500s, but there was a small group of us who had a far superior machine - the Atari ST! Mine is still going - I love it to bits! Hehe would also love to see a decent amiga emulator for PPC, they were the days indeed!

I'm not sure but I think you mean either 'Kult' or 'Ween', both french and both very weird. OR you could mean 'Captive' which was sort of Dungeon Master like. If you are looking for a specific game, try googling for Godflesh FTP.

Flashback, by Delphine software?

It was launched in 1993 and was a side-scrolling platform - http://ramal.free.fr/fb_en.htm

Maybe the cover art will remind you, found it on eBay at http://tinyurl.com/rzuto

If you like flashback, you might want to wet yourself over this:
http://arisme.free.fr/CEports/

This is a native WinCE port of the Flashback engine (ie better then an emulator). I used to play it on my spv phone.

kasu: yeah. Follow the link I've posted. The game played perfectly on my SPV, so it'll certainly be cool on the PDAs. Haven't used it for a while. You might need the original game, I might still have my folders at home, but check out abandonware sites to grab it anyway.

It's a great looking game, but have to say it didn't keep me much beyond the curiosity value. I was never that good with platforms.

I've just sat and read this thread with complete nostalgia...I had the 600 and 1200 and did eventually beef the 1200 into quite a powerful machine indeed.

My favourite game was Champ Manager 93/94. Neil Shipperley and Julian Joachim scoring 60+ goals a season. Conceding about 4 goals a year and a guy called Mark Cross: signed for £4.5m and worth about £25m (a HUGE amount then) by the time he was 25. Spent many a winter night playing that, those WERE the true gaming days. Silent Service II was simple but very addictive.

Still got my 1200 (and the 600, I think) and I refuse to throw it out. My friends and I at the time all had Amigas and we used to make fun of those who had PCs with their bloated OS's......I'm getting quite teary!!

To get back on topic though, I don't remember reading anything about an alternative to the sourceforge, which doesn't really work properly on the Exec. Anyone got any suggestions?

Cheers

Another World / Out of this World (EU title) wasn't really the prequel to Flashback.

I think most people would remember Another World / Out of this World best for the intro - vector animated Ferrari (or somesuch) driving up to a complex with lightning in the background, guy taps in a code, gets scanned, etc. etc. Sits down behind a computer, taps in some values, fires up a particle accelerator, and has a coke. Lightning hits the complex, travels down the particle accelerator along with the particles, it hits the strike plate, and *zap* the guy is shot off to a different reality, appearing under water before being attacked by leaches, some black lion/buffalo hybrid, ending up in a swinging cell with an alien cellmate, before picking up one of the coolest guns in a game ever (shoot, shield, blast combo by holding down the trigger). Aahhh...memories.

There -was- a sequel to that, basically taking place after the dude takes off, but I think it was console only :/ "Heart of the Alien" for SEGA CD system.

Then there was the super-lame 3D version of Flashback, "Fade to black", which did have something -like- Another World's aliens/leaches, which was a pretty unplayable game once you got to a particular level where an alien entity blobs to the floor/ceiling so fast there's no way you can kill them before they kill you %)

Ahhh, memories... wish they would make more games like that again. That and "Countdown", "Rise of the dragon" etc. style games are so much more entertaining, albeit 'play once', than 3D shooter number 6,037.
