Can someone explain to me what I need to do to achieve this?

I'm able to see my pc's name through rescos network browsing bit but I can't seem to get to any of my shared files. Is there a tutorial oror something I could look at?

Hi mate,

Dont know of tutorial but i will waffle for a min or two see if you can make sence of it, hehe

Basically you need enable sharing on a folder within your pc.
ON THE COMPUTER
Create a folder call it whatever you want, (i use several software music etc)
right click the folder and goto SHARING AND SECURITY.
This will open the folder properties with the Sharing Tab displayed.

you will have two options
DO NOT SHARE THIS FOLDER and

By default it will be at DO NOT so change it to SHARE THIS FOLDER, it will kick off the first time you do it with security warnings, forget how many but you need to keep saying yes and select the one that says "just activate file sharing etc etc)

This done your folder will now be shared, you just need to give yourself permissions to add and change files and folders when connected to this drive over the network,

So go back to the share properties box by right clicking the folder and selecting sharing and security. Then click on Permissions and select Allow on Full Control and Change, apply and job done.

If you go back through resco Map Network Drive and search your computer name the folder will be there.

It is worth noting, (so i dont get shouted at by anyone) that sharing a folder has security issues as it can be seen over the network, should anyone hack you. rule of thumb NEVER SHARE AN ENTIRE DRIVE and dont keep anything confidential in there

To help minimise risk (not remove it), dont give "everyone" full control, only your user account and ensure you are using passwords. A further security step if you want is to give read only access not full control.

Play with it, accept your own risk level
