OK Puckster. Got it working. I did a HR and only installed the Default_MP-Shortcut-MMS1-JAVA-VOICE-CV-051214 file. The MMS folders now show up. Strange that it wasn't working before. I even tried installing that file a number of times. Must have been something else that was installed before that was blocking the MMS from installing properly.

Thanks for your help :D
:D Thats great sunseaker
Thanks to you and kelu for confirming my work.
This cab info may now be worthy of its own thread as i have seen a lot of people with missing MMS folders and other apps & settings related to skipping the ext_rom setup and scrolling through all these pages not everyone would see it.

Cheers,
Chris

On the K-JAM, the icon below wi-fi is to "Stop Data Service" which should be equivalent to Disconnect GPRS. This button is disabled until theres an active GPRS session. The one above wi-fi is to turn the phone off (requiring sim pin to be re-entered when turned on again). When i turn the phone off here, flight mode is still switched OFF.

There isnt an actual flight mode button which turns off all radios and flight mode is still accessed the same way as before using the phone / operator bubble from top task bar.

I think to get the equivalent of flight mode from comm manager you would have to press both the phone and bluetooth buttons so they are both off.

Chris

I'd like to upgrade just the OS ROM in my Wizard to the one in K-JAM_WWE_216901_2169101_020710_ship. I'm familiar with the aWizard tool for flashing the radio, OS, and extend rom, but I can't figure out how to get just the OS rom out of the K-JAM_WWE_216901_2169101_020710_ship.exe file. I manage to get the nk.nbf file, but I'm not sure what to do from there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Why should you want to do that? The radio rom is also updated and improved in this rom. Just install the whole package, you will be satisfied I promise, like most of us. :)

I have a reason, but I have no idea whether my solution will actually work. Since the update eliminates the ability to modify the extended rom, could you lock the extened rom you already have and update only the OS? I tried, but even without installing the included extended rom, it still overwrote the prior extended rom. I really like the idea of having many of the US T-Mobile extended rom files/settings, and I can't seem to get the cabs to remain after a soft reset. I know I am missing something basic here when it comes to flashing in general, but it seems so feasible. Using aWizard, you usually can get the separate os rom and ext rom, but doing it this time, no ext rom folder. Uggh. someone needs to hack that bleepin' ext rom lock. it is the root of all evil.

Assuming I have to suck it up and just install the included extended rom,
1) which region should I ID when selecting aa country (I'm in the US, so I assume for language purposes the UK)

2) I have t-mobile and would like to us the push email. do I link it directly to the email addresses, or should I go through the t-mobile myemai?l
3) I know the server to set up for GPRS (internet2.voicestream.com), but what about MMS (does direct push eliminate the need for it)

4) I heard the camera worked better with the latest update. Is that in the extended rom, or installed in the os? If I eventually am able to make the t-mobile ext rom to stick (modified in some ways) will I need to install the t-mobile camera cab?

I have read the thread from start to finish at least a dozen times and some of the solutions for the MMS issues have been "resolved" (albeit they haven't worked for me) the rest seems untouched. Any help/input is apprecaited. I'm still a newbee, but learning more and more every day. Thanks!!

edit:

Also, in order to get MMS working, I need the myemail triggers. When adding the cabs to the rom, they disappear after a soft reset. would wthat be prevented by installing/saving them on the SD card as read only?

Still no joy with wifi. Unable to get an IP address. Good signal though..

I think the new thread is a good idea. It would also be a good idea to list at least the minimum files required to have installed from the ext rom to allow the device to function fully.

Hey everyone,

I have a T Mobile UK MDA Vario and have tried to install this |K JAM ROM from the installer, but I am getting the 'invalid vendor ID' message. I have tried using aWizard to unlock the CID, which seems to work, but I am still having this problem.

As sundiver asks, is there a way to use aWizard to get around this? Has anyone got any other suggestions?

Any help is really appreciated!

Is that Comm Manager a cab file in the Ext ROm, or built-in in the OS? If it is a separate cab file (like the one with 4 buttons is), can someone attach it here? I am looking for it.

I don't like that the update locks the extended rom. I want to keep the ability to go back to the original configuration. (T-Mobile US MDA).

What I'd really like to do is update the radio and OS roms, and leave the extended rom alone. And if I decided I need something from the new extended rom, just manualy install the cabs.

Hmmm... let me look around some. I may have loaded a third CAB somewhere that I forgot about :)

Found it - load MT-MMS-WI19-051213-1 and SHortcut-MMS1-CV-VOICE-TMO-US-10Nov05

That puts the MMS account back in messaging. The first one may not be necessary..... (the second definitely is)

Sorry about that - I missed those two in the list.....

Hi! I tried searching but I can't figure out where to look for these two Cabs? Can someone tell me where they are?

Thanks!

wassup ... i also have a tmobile mda US and updated to the newest kjam rom.. hmm.. not having those probs you are.. are any settings saving? what cabs did you add?

however, i did not do what you did and use the entire tmobile ext rom from their original ship rom.. a few of the cabs will not work w/the kjam and will cause your wifi to die (i believe the gprs_stall_fix cab is the killer one)..

but to get back some of your tmobile specific items such as:
OZ messaging, My Tmobile Email Setup, MMS Configuration/Camera MMS pic profile/ Account added in Email, Internet/GPRS settings and more w/o any loss of settings i copied these cabs to a sd card and then ran after doing a hardreset.

CAB-Customization-PictureSize2Default.CAB
MT-MMS-WI19-051213-1.CAB
Shorcut-MMS1-CV-VOICE-TMO-US-10Nov05.CAB
Signed_OZPocketPC.Cab
Signed_tmobile_email_notification_2005PPC_NET_rom_ 12202005.CAB
T-Mobile_USA_Internet_UNI_SA_V2[1].0.CAB

the last one i found in a forum on here..

i have not had any problems w/wifi, bt, or gprs connections. much improved and stil have silent email triggers instead of sms.. also, make a shortcut to this app \windows\jmm.exe and you now can use Intent's Java Midlet Manager.. thats right baby, java midlets work (darn tmo and taking that out!), verified that google local and opera mini (high mem) works great! also have not had any lockups related to the above cabs.

hope that helps..
peace

edit: uploaded the cabs in a zip file! enjoy!

well, mms shows up, but can't configure emails. Whenever I try to connect, I get the message "cannot connect to server. please make sure you have a wireless network available." I know that the GPRS works (connects to the internet just fine). What am I missing?

What should my GPRS settings be? how about the mms server?

Could Someone Please Use aWizard Tool on this Rom to extract the Roms into nba files.

I have upgraded my Cingular 8125 using aWizard but only touching the Radio to 1.13.10 and OS to Qtek 1.6.7. This has done the following:

1. Preserved my Splash Screens
2. Preserved my Extended ROM

Which will make it easier to get warranty service if I ever need it.

I am able to unhide my Extended ROM but cannot add files.

Even though I did backup my Splash with aWizard I'm not sure that if I use the RUU to update my phone I would be able to restore it.

i've being tired of posts like "don't working this, don't working that" with new roms. little advice to everybody: don't skip installing extended rom! if you don't need skype and backgamon you can uninstall them from "remove programs". use the i-mate's configuration wizzard for you're mobile operator settings if you don't know how to manually insert them.
there's new roms still to come out, so save you're energy and stop hacking this, just enjoy in you're phones.

So I am with Cingular (U.S.) and I just upgraded my ROM to the latest Wizard firmware and I can't get connected to GPRS anymore. Were you able to back-up your settings before the upgrade or did you just re-enter them?

I can share your frustration, but in a lot of ways, the things we are trying to accomplish are not handled in the ext roms that come with the update. Being on a US T-Mob network, the included ext rom does not configure the settings to work with it. Knowing that it is a matter of "tweaking" the cabs to make it work puts us all here trying to help each other out with our downfalls and expertise. After 11 (soon to be 12) pages of people helping each other out, several things have been accomplished:
1) ext rom is protected to the point you can't mess with it
2) splash screen is locked, no matter how hard you try
3) stereo BT is not available
4) MMS and US T-Mob settings are difficult to get right and could disable your GPRS
5) everyone hates the battery meter on the task bar
6) the rom appears to be more stable and faster than previous versions
7) MS Voice Command v. 1.5 can be installed and works fine if you do it right
8 ) we all love our phones (and our significant others hate them) because we are trying so hard to make them perfect (or at least do what we bought them for)
9) there are people out there far brighter than some of us when it comes to this stuff and, through their good nature and desire to help, share enormous amounts of knowledge and experience.
10) It's time for all of us to make $$ donations to this forum (myself included) it has saved many @sses and phones.

Ok, just my 2 cents, but I think many would agree. And with all due respect and no offense meant, no one has forced your eyes to stay open and read through the posts (remember Clockwork Orange?). When my phone is working the way I want it (and my eyes are probably bleeding from pouring over so many posts), I will DEFINITELY be taking a break from the forum for a bit.

All hail forum.xda-developers.com!!!

Hi people!

I have an Qtek 9100 and have patched it to 2.16 rom. Restart went ok, but know i have problem with Active Sync. I have downloaded most recent activesync 4.1 build 4841 and it just wont find my device. I found this (http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesync/tshoot-as4x-connection.htm) tutorial and run route print and everything and there was no mobile device or activesync data at all.

I cannot return to previous rom because aWizard wont run without activesync (or specifely rapi).

Have anyone had similar problems?

I have something to add....

1. True haven't gotten past that yet...*still working on that*
2. Splash screen CAN be changed thought it's involved.
3. True (I can't do anything about that because I haven't cared much to look into it)
4. MMS and US T-Mobile is easy to get back
5. True
6. True
7. I wouldn't know becuase VC doesn't recognize names like Munkaraden
8. True and very true!
9. Yes Indeed!
10. Yup

As for the splash screen here's what you can do....

If you have the T-Mobile/Cingular device then use aWizard to backup your phone (splash, rom, etc...)
Then flash your unit with the iMate ROM
Then using aWizard backup only the iMate ROM
Then flash the unit with your backed up T-Mobile/Cingular ROM with aWizard
Then flash the Splash screen back on with aWizard
Then re-flash with the backed up iMate ROM with aWizard

For MMS and T-Mobile US settings just use the following cabs and install them in the order I have them listed.....I thought I posted this elsewhere on this forum....

After you install the cabs 001-010 soft reset your device. If you want to install the registy_edits.cab file you can but then make sure you do the power off reset (hold down power and tap yes on the confirmation pop up). The registry_edits.cab do the following:

EnableIndicator = 1
ShowSIM = 0
EnableDifferGprsEdgeIcon = 1
Add in the T-Mobile MMS Settings (This can also be done manually by going to the MMS Box and tapping on Tools---MMS Settings)

Currently I'm working on two projects: (in order of priority)
1. Auto Installer for multiple cabs
2. Auto Installer for multiple cabs
3. Auto Installer for multiple cabs
4. Auto Installer for multiple cabs
5. Auto Installer for multiple cabs
6. Bypass Extended ROM lock

and no that's not a typo

notifications doesnt seem to be issue in this case.

The notifications ARE the issue with this problem. Sometimes they get out of Sync with the Clock / Alarm application and you will find that even when you deselect all alarms if you look through the notifications there are still entries for the alarm to wake you up.

This has only happened to me once and all I did was de-select all alarms and then delete any alarm entries in the notification queue.

leploep
16th March 2006, 09:51 AM

Cos i've run into the same problem before and found out that some duplicated notifications are not deleted when unchecking the alarm.

Go over to Hofo and look in the MDA FAQ topic - I wrote a FAQ entry on which CABs from the T-Mobile extended ROM (which you can download from here) you need to run.

There are two to restore GPRS, and two more for MMS. That's it.

You can do it the hard way (by hand) too if you want... but the CABs are easier! DO NOT load the entire set of extended ROM cabs - some of them will break things!

Has anyone had issues with this ROM affecting the ability to NOT display notification pop up windows.

I do not receive any calendar related notifications on my device now.

If I am connected to my desktop PC I receive "new email" notifications and I receive all MMS and Phone related notifications (missed calls etc) . I do not receive any notifications relating to "Calendar Entries" at all - eg: meeting reminders do not pop up (they do on my desktop PC).

I use mNotes to sync with Corporate Lotus Notes server via USB.

Apart from this issue (if ROM related) I am impressed with the improved performance especially phone clarity and etended battery life.

I look forward and thank you all in advance for any help you can give.

I have some problems with GPRS/EDGE connection using the wireless modem...

I flashed my i-Mate K-Jam Italian, with the latest i-Mate WWE ROM.

Before the flash i never tried the wireless modem, so i dunno if it is a ROM problem....

But...

1) I have serious problems using the USB modem link option, in this mode after about two minutes my modem seems hangs and the connection still stays up but i cannot send/receive any packets from the internet. Also, when i try to disconnect the remote connection through the windows connection icon on my taskbar, the modem logs shows up timeout error contacting modem...... when the timeouts end i cannot use the modem anymore and i got a Error 692...hardware error.... i need to reset the modem or turn on/off the flight mode...

2) After updating my BT Stack (Microsoft) with the native BT drivers of my laptop (Dell Latitude D410), the bluetooh connection seems working fine... but after about 15-20 minutes the modem still hangs like happen with the USB connection. Before the driver upgrade i was stuck in the same way of the USB connection !!

I've disabled ActiveSync USB either on my phone and on my Pc...

My KJAM works fine if i use OperaBeta or IM+ on my phone... so i can connect/disconnect and so on whenever i want !

I've got a Nokia 6021 that ROCKS with EDGE on my laptop, compared to my K-JAM!

Anyone have a solution ?
Is a known problem of the last iMate ROM?

I'm going to be crazy....please someone help me ! :P

My configuration is:

Dell Latitude D410
ActiveSync 4.1 build 4841
Dell BT driver (Toshiba model)

Software on phone:
SPB PocketPlus, Diary , Backup
OperaBeta 8.5
TotalCommander
smartskey in background
Tomtom
I've uninstalled SPB gprs monitor and IM+

PS: i'm sorry if i made some English errors :) i'm italian !

After I upgraded my K-Jam I noticed that my volume goes off intermittantly. I have to do a soft-reset to get it to go back to notmal. Any thoughts on why this is happeneing and has anyone else had this trouble?

Has anyone had issues with this ROM affecting the ability to NOT display notification pop up windows.

I do not receive any calendar related notifications on my device now.

I too have exactly the same problem of notification (other than phone related) not showing up.

Add to that, my alarm sound always plays whenever I my KJAM boots up which is extremely annoying especially when you do a soft reset and the volume was pumped to 100% before the reset. You can't decrease the volume or do anything. I had to throw my KJAM into my drawer :x here at work to avoid embaresment  . :!:

I solved the latter issue by completly deleting the .wav file :?

Is there any possible solution?

:? LOL, At the risk of repeating any posts, I have looked through this thread and don't seem to have found this out.........

I have an o2 ROM. Has anyone yet found a way to revert back to this if I flash the i-mate ROM and find I don't get on with it.

It is obvious that it has issues and as I have only just got the phone, I would hate to gain some speed yet loose functionality.

BTW, the first thing I did when I got it was to hard reset and ditch the o2 extented gubbins.

I have learnt alot from these forums, but it can sometimes be a little tedious on such a long thread to find the answer, especially as I am a newbie to these things.

Hello all, please help me...

I have a QTEK 9100 and it only takes a couple of the QTEK RUU updates and only a couple of the I-Mate K-JAM RUU updates. Most importantly it will NOT update to the latest QTEK 9100 RUU rom nor will it not update to the latest K-JAM RUU rom either. I prefer to have the latest K-JAM rom as that is what I have in my other MDA VARIO and it's great!

Now the error I receive is Invalid Vender (vendor?) ID... I HAVE unlocked the phone (both SIM unlock AND CID unlock)... I have CID unlocked it with both aWizard AND lokiwiz and I have also installed the EnableRAPI thing.

I have done everything I have found on these greate boards here at XDA-Developers and I have found nothing to fix this problem. I am able to use custom roms as well. But I can't use the K-JAM one. ALWAYS error 294 invalid vender id.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance

:(

I upgraded to this ROM and all was wonderful until I tried to BT a file to my Nokia 6630. I can only set up a 'Dial Up Networking' connection between both devices and cannot send / receive anything

Has anyone else had this problem after upgrading, I have checked the OBEX setting in the registry and it is set to 1

Can someone help me as I really need this functionality

Thanks

Hi people,

I have flashed my UK T-Mobile Vario with this latest Imate upgrade, and it is like having a new phone. Fantastically impressive.
Only slight problem I have had is GPRS settings, I had to manually set them up. Think I got them right, I can't seem to find a 'how-to' guide for dunces like me. The phone does connect to the Internet thru GPRS so I guess it must be right.
But I cannot get my MMS function to work. It tries to send but continually comes back with a failure message.

Any bright sparks can help an oaf like me out????

Can anyone please tell me how and where to access the Qtek or I-mate latest update Rom for the Vario T-Mobile. In both websites they require the phone identification which isn’t compatible because mine is a T-Mobile.

Thanks.

I apologise upfront... i am on a slow connection and cannot wade through all the pages.

My new K-JAM came with this ROM and recently i had to do a nmber of hard resets.

Each time something didn't quite bring the phone back to its original state.

The last time i did a hard reset the Extended ROM CABs didn't run at all.

Has my extended ROM got corrupt? is there a anywhere to jut get the CAB files, or do i have to run the entire image again from my PC ro get a new image on my K-JAM?

Any help appreciated

So I just dug thru 32 pages and didnt find anything to help. I installed this ROM on Tuesday, and here are some problems Im having.

- Yesterday when my phone was in standby, I called it using my buddy's phone and my phone didnt ring at all. I heard my ringback tone, but my phone didnt ring. Is it a problem with the ROM??

- Yesterday and this morning, I was recieving text messages with no alert. The phone vibrated, but I didnt hear any sounds. And no my phone wasnt on vibrate because earlier my ex sent me a text message and I did hear a sound, so whats the deal? Is it a problem with the ROM??

Thanks for any and all help.
