View Full Version : How to remove the bottom tray (Comm Mgr&Battery) on 8125

The method used for the K-Jam and the 9100 doesn't work...i.e. removing init launch from the \windows\startup folder because it doesn't exist.
Any ideas on the 8125? I don't need that bottom tray there.

be sure it's \windows\startup not \windows\start up.

no, I mean that the init tray.lnk doesn't exist in the startup folder.
The link simply points to "\Windows\Init_Tray.exe" without any trailing options, maybe your rom executes this from the registry rather than using a link?

There isn't a value for Init_Tray anywhere in the Windows Folder.
All I have in the windows\startup folder are:
BkpMgrDeleter
OmapClock
poutlook
sddaemon
Services
smartskey_707

try...
-load phm traylnch
-select enable tray launch
-soft reset
-de-select enable tray launch and it will not appear as today plug-in
this will allow you to add it back as needed and also let's you add programs to it.

I actually fixed it by using Memmaid and disabling init_tray.lnk :)

I tried both methods (memmaid and try_lnch), none worked... still have the task tray

Just in case anyone is confusing the battery meter that appears at the top of the screen on certain ROMs and the icons that appear at bottom of the today screen... This thread is referring to the stuff at the bottom, see HyperMalac's screenshot...

Just goto \Windows\Startup and remove InitTray.lnk

It worked for me... I did a soft reset after moving the Init_tray file to my storage card and poof - no more tray...

hm, I thought removing it from Autostart should be enough...
But, I have a init_tray.exe and a init_tray.lnk in my Windows dir, both are set to hidden and System, when I try to change that with TotalCommander an try to move them, I can't, and the permissions are back to hidden/system again... quite protected it seems...

Guys, they are all in the registry as well. However, if you remove Comm Manager from the tray (using registry method only?), the Comm Manager stops working completely.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\Power]
"ShowIcon"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\ScreenRotate]
"ShowIcon"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\WirelessMgr]
"Keep"=dword:00000000

Enable your file browswer to view system files, then you will see the hidden file init_tray in the windows\startup folder

Upon deletion of "KEEP" you can say byebye to the lower tab icon of comm manager.
thanks to moghisi101 :)
