Today I found my first scratch on my Wizard's screen :(
after about half an hour of polishing it wish displex i have managed to remove the scratch (and get R.S.I at the same time!)
at the minute I cannot afford a "real" screen protector (which im sure a few of you are in the same boat)
so after some thinking about how I can protect the screen (until I get paid) I came up with the following:
1, Aquire 1 DVD case
2, Remove the Film layer that holds the DVD cover
3, cut a piece out that is approximately 2mm wider than the screen all the way round
4, work this under the lip around the screen
5, make sure it doesn't move about on the screen, if it does go back to step 3 and add another 1mm to the size
6, enjoy!
hope this helps someone...
Cheers

You don't want to put anything under the lip around the screen as it can cause it to stop responding to touch.

I've been there... be careful about how far you jab under the screen.

I have a question about this jabbing under the screen thing..
Would this permantly damage your screen? because I think I jabbed it in a bit..
I don't notice any effects through, is this a longterm use and damage type of thing? I took the screen protector off and reapplied it, but I think there is a gap between the lid and screen now when there wasn't one before?
Of course, the gap is so small I mightbe imagining it and it was always there..

the best stuff to use is overhead projector film (acetate?). most protectors sold on ebay are home made using this. I have a couple but they only last a short while because they scuff and look messy.

Here's what I did:
I went to Wal-Mart and bought the Pelican brand PSP screen protectors. I believe it was 2 for $9, a fair deal compared to Boxwave protectors which are around $25 for 3 on amazon.
Next, I took a measuring tape and measured the approximate size of the window. I don't recall the dimensions but I did not attempt to size it to fit underneath the plastic. Next I took a sharpie and marked the corners with a very small tick on the screen protector to the size I measured. Then I used a knife and ruler, although an x-acto knife would have worked much better, to make a straight line across the protector. I used a pair of scissors to follow the cut and finish it off. I used that protector to mark the second one to make it a bit easier and then I applied the protector to the screen.

Not to flame, cause I like being resourceful and coming up with cool DIY stuff. However, I can't imagine buying a $300-$450 phone (ppc phone) and not having 10 bucks (give or take) for a basic, run of the mill screen protector.
Its like affording yourself a Lamborghini, but you can't fork over the loot to change to oil (or maybe the windshield wiper blades would better fit this example.)

I purchased a pack of Belkin ClearScreen Overlays that are for the Palm Zire series handhelds. It included 12 razor-thin polymer sheets, cleaning cloth and applicator card for $15. I had to trim to size, but works like a charm. The Belkin part number is F8P1700. Good luck!

That's nothing.
Pocketpccrap is selling theirs for $14 EACH.
I wasted one thanks to their crappy instruction and was super anxious when I applied the 2nd so as to not screw up.
Oh yeah, their headphone adapters suck big time which physically damaged two of my phones.
