My previous handset was the MDA III, and the stylus on this handset and other MDA's seem to be pretty solid, but not the one on the Wizard, which i find very small and flimsy.

Anyone aware of any other better more solid stylus's made for the Wizard.

I doubt one exists if you want it to fit in the silo. It may be possible to make one longer if you went to a 3 section telescope, but that would only make it flimsier.

I lost both of my K-Jam Styli. I went to buy a pack of 3 from Expansys but they supplied me with Jam ones instead.

Well luckily the Jam has a better stylus and it fits quite nicely behind the K-jam in my Krussel case. So I'm using that one instead.

i removed the ink from a biro, and melted the end into a fine smooth tip with a lighter! works brilliantly and goes into any shirt pocket/pencil case etc. and it was free cos i took it from work!

Not as inventive as benjdc, but I've been using this for the last week or so

Been using the same pen as db44, works very well, but I'd still like to have a better stylus for when I'm out and don't want to carry the pen around.

Hi Guys

Just got this, http://www.ledshoppe.com/Product/ledp/LP1031.htm

Nice laser pointer and LED torch with biro and stylus, not bad for $5 delivered, same as the Belkin model

I use a Lamy TRI-PEN IT. It is a pencil, pen, and stylus combo. Very nice unit, but it costs 76 dollars.

(Second attempt <gnash>)
I looked at the retractable one. Nice, but no reset pin. As I have to reset twice a day at work (and sometimes in the car too) not really a goer.

I also have a multi-point pen. I've had one of the plain metal ones for years and they work great. Only trouble is sourcing refills for the pens. It's often cheaper to get a new pen (£5 from Maplin). However, I recently picked a really nice Penatia lacquered one from Sainsbury's (of all places). Really nice and the stylus works as a reset pin. Only trouble is it's full pen size.

Anyone know of a retracable with a reset pin ?

TIA, DBo.

The tip on this stylus should work as a reset pin on a Wizard just like the stock stylus.

Also did you know if you hold the power button on your wizard it turns off. and then turning it back on is just like doing a soft reset with the pin.

I got the same one, I found it through another link the day after I bought a combo pen from office depot, for $20. I like this one better.

Do you have to carry this new stylus with you seperately or does it slide into your Device?

hi

You have to carry it separately, which while in work is OK. Its pen sized

I bought one which looks exactly the same from Fry's Electronics but i don't like the pen on it because its to pointy. Also the mechanical pencil on it doesn't work anymore (doesn't push out led). But the one i purchased has a lifetime warranty so i might go ahead and trade it in just for the hell of it.

How much? I can't see a price. And, how much for shipping to the U.S.?

I got these:

http://www.gear4pda.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=30

They're unusable because the top of the stylus that hides the ballpoint pen comes off when you try to take it out of the silo. It's gotten stuck in there a couple of times already. Also, they're even shorter than the stock stylus.

I haven't yet figured out a way to make the top fit more tightly, yet still be able to come off and expose the pen when you need it.

I didn't notice that anyone mentioned the new (just came out for the 8125 anyway) stylus from Boxwave called the Styra for $11.95. It is a retractable stylus with a pen function added in.

Here is a link to the picture. http://boxwave.com/products/styraballpointpen/styra-ballpoint-pen-stylus-htc-wizard-cingular-8125_1160.htm

I ordered mine yesterday, and will report back how it works...

The Styra is the same size as the OEM stylus when closed, but 1/2 inch shorter when open. Tis OK when using as a stylus, but as a pen it is awkward - not only is it short, but your fingers are holding the smaller part of the stylus. To get to the pen, you twist to remove the cap. Easy enough. However, when removing the stylus from the device, I've had the cap only come out leaving the stylus in the device (say twice in 3 weeks). After a moment of panic, I put the cap back on just fine and pulled the sylus out. Overall it is nice to have a backup pen and it has come in handy on several occassions...I just don't use it on a regular basis.

Not so much the stylus but the silo. Mine wouldn't hold a stylus through wear and its only 6 months old. It's been fixed for free but I'm hoping it doesn't go the same way in another 6 months.
