Hi there. I've just acquired an XDA Exec (finally!) and I've got a question. My Exec has arrived with the 1.13.82 WWE ROM installed on it, dated 30/11/05. The last ROM that O2 have published on my-xda.com is 1.13.188. Higher version number = better ROM right? So I should just stick with the ROM version that came on the device and not overwrite it with the one on O2's website, correct?

Problem is, I can't install the GPRS Monitor program that came with it. When I try installing it via ActiveSync (I'm running v4.1) it gives the following error message:

"Unable to install application. Please update your device ROM to the required version before trying again."

So what should I do? Is there a way of fixing this and installing the program without installing the ROM from O2's website? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks,

Mach

If you go to | Start (menu) | Settings | System (tab) | About (icon) | you should see something like "Windows Mobile Version 5.0 OS 5.1.195 (build 148xx.x.x.x) Can you post what your says?

Thanks;

Sure. It reads as follows:

OS 5.1.1700 (Build 14354.0.1.1)

Does that help?

You are running the same rom thats on the o2 site. Check your version again and you should see you have rom 1.13.82 and extended rom 1.13.188

There is an acknowledged fault with the CD version of GPRS Monitor. If you download the 'app suite' from the o2 site it should install ok. You can get it from the same page that the rom is available to download.

Thanks for replying again, but unfortunately I'm getting the error with both the CD version and the version from the website. Any other ideas? (hopefully not a hard reset)

1. Run the website version again and you should get the options to 'modify, repair or remove'.
2. Choose the option to remove.
3. Run the website version again and this time it should just install.
