Having just upgraded to the new imate ROM, I'm not sure what to do now. I have the mda-pro and am with T-Mobile, but going on the version numbers the T-Mobile ROM seems to be a downgrade.

Anyone trying the new ROM please share your experiences and advice.

Cheers,
Phil

I have downloaded the file and unpacked it, guess what :

All the files inside are from 2005, so we have an ancient ROM here. I hate t-MOBILE those guys are as usual with their heads up their bottoms.

If you have upgraded to the jasjar version do not under any circumstances upgrade to this version.

It does not contain AKU2 and as suspected is just the old German Tmobile version.

Just ran it on my mda pro....complete waste of time. Now need to re-upgrade to the Jasjar version.

See the comment and date

"This version is the first production release of the MDA Pro."

I check this link regularly for new files , originally the site claimed jan 06, but nothing yet.

Hoping and praying aku 2 and a2dp will be included hence the longer wait than other countries t-mobile isp's.

NO it is an update, mouse over the download, it's not a particularily new update, but it's much newer than the original ship rom from TMUK.
It's just that they haven't updated the text yet.

The Ext.ROM has a CAB file that says "TMo Streaming". Do you think its for A2DP?

Also, Asukal posted in another thread that this ROM does infact have A2DP and made screenshots to prove it. What do you guys think?

Can someone upload the Extended ROM to the FTP so we can try the Streaming cab file?

dunno about a2dp or how to go about finding out as i don't own a stereo headset...

FYI: windows mobile v5.0 OS 5.1.70 (Build 14409.1.1.2)

Rom version 1.20.32
Date 11/16/05
Radio 1.06.00
Protocol 42.40.p8
extrom 1.20.120

I have a hunch that the Streaming file mentioned above is the streaming media player that is on t-mo's rom.. looks like windows media player... and as yet i cant find a function for it.. It's only configured for rtsp:// files... whatever they are... may have been a idea to have a player that can pickup mms:// files .. eh... microsoft..

By the looks of things this is an old rom, the english version of the german rom released ages ago... I doubt it has any of the 'new' features.. but generally feels a lot more stable than the original shipped rom.

T-mo have updated there download page to reflect the new rom.. they even put a piccy of the mdapro up..

OS 5.1.70 (Build 14409.1.1.2) According to any source (like Microsoft mobile blog and Jason Landridge Blog) this version does not include neither AKU2 nor A2DP, so I am not sure what Asukal is showing us. Maybe it is something T-Mobile cooked on their own, a different BT stack ??

rtsp:// stands for Real Time Streaming Protocol :-)

The advantage is that RTSP allows client to tell server to stop, play, pause etc. RTSP is a very popular broadcasting protocol for Real Player, for example.

Nice addition (if it works)!

I tried this for a while yesterday (before deciding I didn't have time to do a complete reinstall, given that AKU2 should be out in a few weeks time).

I found two big problems. Firstly, after a reset I'd get the message "an operation failed" from the phone program. Calls worked OK, so it's not clear what that was about.

Secondly, it listed most software I tried to install as not being trusted, which added to the hassle factor of reinstalling everything.

On the bright side, A2DP definitely works. Given that it's now an available feature in an official T-Mobile ROM, it'll be interesting to see if they then withdraw that feature from AKU2.

Great! One more person confirms A2DP.

So, can anyone shed light if its possible to extract A2DP from the MDA Pro and then use it on the other Universal variants?

yes, in that rom version a2dp works perfectly so there arent hardware problems, like imate said

universaldoc
14-03-2006, 11:09 AM
I-mate never said there were hardware problems. Infact, they said that there wasn't support for all BT Headphones, which is why they were taking the extra time to support as many brands as possible and testing was in progress.

Sounds like a load of crap to me though!

Guys!

@it is sure that A2DP function on mycapture.
they were T-Mibile Shipped one, not modefied one.

@I tied to adapt this A2DP.dll to another rom, such like Old Exec ROM,
also I-mate latest ROM 1.30.

But still not succeessful.

a2dp.dll is calling thres.dll and coredll.dll
But once inject thres.dll from T-Mobile to another ROM,
All of Today Plug-in will be dead.

Also many of btxxx.dll were changedtheir size from other version.
With my skill, it may very difficult to make it work on other devices

Are there any idea to do?

@Other improvemnet, Contact can read Names&Umbers from SIM without SIM manager. that is very cool!(i-mate 1.30 ROM also have same function)

@One more thing, BT Remote SIM Access, new program(or setting)
i can not know what use it.

Hi Asukal,

Thank you for the updates! We really appreciate it.

Can you contact buzz and see if he can help you out with this project. I have already created a thread on his fourms (buzzdev.net), but he hasn't responded yet. I would appreciate if you could send him a PM and explain the whole situation to him so that he can also actively involve in this project.

Thank you for your participation in this project!

Also, i'm 99% sure that since BT Remote SIM access is available, it should now be able to transmit the name also to a supported BT headset with Caller ID!!!

These are 2 much needed improvements in the BT stack that T-Mo has got right!!!

Thank you for the info. The SIM Access means that if you have a radio/carkit in the car like Parrot that can access your phone and then be able to dial the numbers in your address book. So you can leave your Universal in your briefcase and still have access to all your numbers while driving.

But do you have the SIM access settings inside the BT section or is it another shortcut.?

Hi All

I just up(down)graded and I have already noticed the improvement of response time over the last O2 ROM I had installed.

Now I just have to check the time it takes to wake up when I open it up after a period of unuse!

Having just upgraded to the JasJar's latest ROM for no real reason other than the speed increase, I was a bit wary about putting this on my JJ, but at last.....at long, long last, I'm now sitting at my desk, nodding my head like a loon, and listening to my library of .ogg files - in stereo - on my HT820!

Pointless really, as I could do that using the wired headset, but now my ears are glowing blue while I listen...wonderful! I'm already liking the T-Mobile UI as well. Very fast through the menus - at least as fast as the i-mate ROM - and as I'm on T-Mobile UK anyway, all my settings are right there. Now to use it a bit more so that I can find something to moan about...

i cant see a menu for remote sim access on my Jabra BT800 would be great to access the contacts remotely from the headset. And simarlarly a menu on the MDA PRO to allow remote access.

At least I have a2dp for my moto now and MSN working on latest T-mobile ROM.

If only I could get the VPN connections working.

Hello,

To all the guys who have installed the T_Mobile and the latest JASJAR too, Which is faster?

I neither have a Exchange server e-mail account nor a sereo bluetooth headset and have no plans of getting either in the next few days/weeks so please convince me which of the 2 is better and why?

Should I stick with the Imate ROM or "down"grade to the T-Mobile ROM?

The remote sim is being removed by the extended rom of T-Mobile.

I installed the extended rom of the latest imate rom and then I saw it in the programs folder.

MSN is included but not in the today screen anymore.

I prefer the I-mate rom, if it supported logmein.com.
But for now i will stick to the T-mobile rom for a while.

I'm Sorry, but i'm not on the T-Mobile rom anymore.
The first time I had the rom I didn't see the Remote sim program too. After I created my own extended Rom I discovered that it didn't install after a hard reset. But I did see the remote Sim.
Later I installed the I-Mate extended Rom to check if it would then support AKU2, but I saw it said something about unsigned, and before I could click ok the screen to enter my pincode popped up, and after that the other screen was gone. And my extended Rom didn't load.
I tried like about 10 times to hardreset my Pro, and finally I managed to click ok so the extended rom started to load.

All i can say if you use an extended rom unhider / unlocker and remove the extended Rom you have a pretty fast device and remote sim is available.

Churchill, actually what TMO did was the most sensible thing in their situation. TMO offers Blackberry services and *not* Exchange Push services. BB Connect / BES clients are incompatible with AKU2.

ROMs 1.20 and 1.30 are virtually identical, with the exception of Exchange Push (AKU2). So TMO actually did their customers a favour by giving them the latest rom *and* make sure that Blackberry support remains posible.
