Hello Ronny
How big are the files?!
I might be able to provide the space needed, please let me know how big are they (and if there is a ROM copy for my Orange SPV M5000) with A2DP support!
U can PM Me if you want to go private.
All the best
Byez!
Got a new mail from Jwright, he have re-posted it on FTP...but it was removed again!!!?
He asked if there was someone who could host the file for him.
I don't have any FTP-area to host the file for him...if there is anyone of you reading this that have, let me/him know, OK!?
I have asked him to mail me the ROM file (I don't have it, if I did, I would post it/mail it to anyone who wants it), so that I at least can mail it out to anyone who PM's me, in addition to that I can post it on FTP daily (if it is removed daily...by "someone") until all who wants it gets it.
But if you really just want/need A2DP, you could just download the latest official QTEK WWE ROM from the XdaDeverlopers FTP, I have used it with my JasJar for a couple of months, and use A2DP (bluetooth stereo) every day with it...in addition to that, I have PushMail setup (since that also is in the QTEK ROM). I would like to test Jwright's ROM (just because I am one of those idiots that have to test out everything...just because I can)...but the QTEK ROM works fine for me really...so if you are after A2DP, you can install that one.
...and I will let you all know here as soon as I get hold of Jwright's latest ROM, and post it on FTP, for those of you that are like me! :-)

I do not have the file myself, but it should be approx same size as other full ROM's for the Universals are, meaning somewhere between 55MB and 60MB.
Is that something you can host?
If we just get the file from Jwright, I am sure we can post it somewhere on the Xda-developers FTP site, where it is not deleted all the time. ...there is after all a lot of ROM's stored here for example;
ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Universal/Shipped_Complete_Updates
BTW
If A2DP is what you want, you could always download the latest official QTEK ROM (1.30.77 WWE is what I have installed), since it contains A2DP and PushMail. And will work on all Universals (you might get "CountryID" or "DeviceID" messages or something like that...but if you do, there is plenty of posts here about how to get around it...I always struggle a bit when I try to install ROM from different operators/countries...but a little searching here in the forums, and I always manage to resolve it:-).
I think this is the ROM I installed last (I do not have an Qtek 9000, but an I-Mate JasJar...but that worked fine); ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Universal/Shipped_Complete_Updates/UNI_QTEK_WWE_13077_130176_10900_WWE_Ship_GR2.0.1.e xe
The QTEK ROM did not have all the utillities/setups that my Norwegian I-mate ROM had, so I had to get hold of the CAB-file for "Norwegian softkeyboard", I also copied over a new "SYM.txt" file to the /Windows folder on my JasJar so that I got Norwegian characters on the hardware keyboard also. Without those two everything would work...but I would not be able to enter the 3 specific norwegian characters.
I do not know what software that Orange install on their Universals...so I do not know if there will be something that you will "miss" after installing the QTEK ROM (or Jwrights ROM for that matter). ...guess there is only one way to find out! ;-)
PS!
When "experimenting" with new ROMS...it can always be benefitial to havea good backup software (for example Sprite Backup, that I myself use, it costs around 20 USD I think...but is well worth the money I think)...I always (or almost always...sometimes I am too much in a hurry:-) take a full image of my JasJar to memmorycard or to my PC before installing/upgrading the ROM...so that I can with one click get my phone back exactly as it was, if I do not like the new ROM after all.

Hi all,
in short.... went from original (Australian) iMate (JASJAR_WWE_11353_137_10301.zip(no AKU)) to Qtek (UNI_QTEK_13077_176_10900_WWE_Ship.exe(A2DP))- experienced major grief with numerous variations/un-bootable attempts to install, so ended up installing iMate JASJAR_WWE_13076_164_10900_wwe_ship.exe which has developed almost unusable OS with boot, populate and 'wake-up' times beyond practicality.
Like Ron, I'm keen to give JW's ROM a shot to test-drive Blueant BT Headphones. 60Mb should be easy to find.
Torrent maybe? Some-one?

Isn't it possible to upload it to http://ezshare.de/? If the file's too large, maybe it's possible to split it and upload it as 2 seperate files...
I really want to try it!

We really need someone to step up and put JWrights ROMS back on this site,
I have PM'd JWright several times but he has never responded to them. He must be out of town again..... In any event if someone that has his roms cound upload them to the universal upload section of the FTP site here it would solve the problem.

Dear Ronny,
Yes I can spare that & much more, the server is located in UK, I just need to set up the FTP service up, will let you know when it is up & running (hopefully by this weekend), until then have a great day.

OK, CerberuS
I have not gotten an response from Jwright on my last mail, but hopefully I will have gotten the file by the time you have FTP ready...or he will have contacted you directly since I sent him directlink to this discussion-thread.
Guess he's out of town again.
6pacman, I have not had any special issues with the QTEK ROM...but then again...it seems that people have very variable experiences with the different ROM's. Some swear to I-Mate, others have only issues with I-Mate ROMS, so forth. Hard to say sometimes if it is me who are "lucky", or if it is you who had "bad luck" with it? :-)
...what I DO see as a big issue myself, is that I tend to test out a lot of 3. party utillities and programs (just can't help myself...just HAVE to test stuff out:-)...and that really seem to cause some issues sometimes...even after un-installing them...not all programs are very good at cleaning up their own mess. :-(
...but yeah, I really would like to test out Jwright's latest ROM...as soon as I get my hands on it, that is! :-)

Not quite the thread for it...but...
Just tried installing PocketMusic again...tried it before, and never got it to work properly with A2DP and AVRCP. But, behold, now it really works well with AVRCP (play/pause/resume, next and previous track from headset)!!!
It was supposed to work previously also, but I never got it to work properly, and I saw people on forums saying that it did some "screen-scraping" tricks to simulate AVRCP...anyway it did not work before, but now it does.
Actually, it works BETTER that Media Player 10 with AVRCP, because even with my i-Tech BT headphones play/pause/resume works fine from headset...and that was very "unstable" with MediaPlayer10 (pause/play only seemed to work "every second time", and I had to click play/pause on JasJar every other time, to get it to work again from headset).
But with PocketMusic it now works (regardless if JasJar is closed...meaning screen over keyboard face down).
And if that was'nt good enough...the "extra bass" works great with bluetooth now too...I mean to recall that it just "garbled the sound" before when using BT!? ...anyway, now I get really heavy bass with my iTech headphones...was pretty good bass before...but now it is excellent...comparable to my Koss wired headphones!
Finally A2DP is working as I "want it to"! :-)
...will of course inform everyone here when I get hold of the latest ROM from Jwright (I am using the latest QTEK WWE at the moment)!

Hi, Can u let me know how u made AVCRP to work in Pocket Music. Cheers, Taurus

Hi taurus_bull2005,
It was really simple;
1. Downloaded the latest version;
I just downloaded the latest version of PocketMusic http://www.pocketmind.com/files/pmusic(cab).zip, downloaded it to my memmorycard (where I store all my CAB-files, in case I want to reinstall after testing new ROM's and stuff:-).
2. Installed it
I clicked CAB, installed to memmory (for safetys sake)...but later on the day I uninstalled it, and installed to memmory card, and it worked just as fine.
3. Connected my iTech BT headphones to my JasJar
4. Started PocketMusic
And started a song, heard the sound in my headphones, and tested play/pause/next/previous buttons on headphones...and it just worked.
There seems to have been changes to PocketMusic, because some months ago, I tested PocketMusic the same way, since I saw on the net that it was supposed to support AVRCP...but I never got it to work, tried all kinds of settings, and tricks...but never-ever got it to work...and saw later in forums on the net that I was not the only one, and some info about that their version of AVRCP did not work in many cases.
I found no new info on PocketMind's web that they have changed this in a new version...but I for some reason tried it again (since I saw in a post here on the forum that someone said that PocketMusic AVRCP worked for him)...and yepp it worked for me...without anything other than installing the program.

BTW
CerberuS have been so generous to offer an FTP area for Jwright's customized ROM! :-)
...hopefully Jwright will check his mail soon, and see the mail FTP-info, and post the ROM-installation file on that FTP and notify CerberuS.
...and then CerberuS will come with the good news.
...and then we all can download it, and install, test
...and live happily ever after! :-)

Has anyone else experienced this? I certainly hope this is fixable.

Some people have had success by changing the a2dpsnd priority to 60.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=46811
This solution doesn't work on the Treo 700w unfortunately. BTW does anyone know of a tool that can display the driver priority to verify that it's being set properly?

That didnt help at all, actually. It appears I am not the only person with a Qtek that is having these A2DP problems.
RonnyGydar
14th June 2006, 01:34 PM
joebush,
I don't think you are alone with that issue on an Universal...if we are talking about the same problem...I actually have it on my JasJar, and had it also on my Qtek2020 and my Qtek9090 before.
Have written some info around it here; http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=53431
I will (and hopefully others too) will try to update with more tips/info/guides there regarding A2DP.
Hopefully you will get some info on how to "reduce" the times you experience it...since I sure have not been able to totally get rid of it! :-(
...for ME at least I now am able to enjoy A2DP.
...even though I wish the BT signal was just a little stronger/stabler, so that I for example did not have to "plan" where I put the JasJar when I listen to music over A2DP while walking for example...rugsack=OK, pantpocket=Lots of lag, so forth.
...and when we're at it...automatic reconnection of headset after is has been turned off, could work better...but I guess that is "Bluetooth confusion"...there seems to be a real challenge to find a headset that works 100% as expected with any phone...seems like all manufacturers makes tiny things different...just enough to annoy us poor users every day! :-(

But I had the same problem the last time I contacted him, and it seemed that he is often away and not able to check his private E-mail too often...so I keep my fingers crossed...since we now actually have gotten an alternative FTP site for him to place the ROM of his...as-soon-as-he-sees-my-emails or all-our-posts-here that is! :-)

No, unfortunately I haven't heard anything from Jwright the last week or so. I must have sent 4-5 mails to him about this, but no response so far! :-(
Hopefully we'll hear something soon...since I have now played/tested so many buggy programs on my JasJar, that it is time for another "hard reset" I think...and then I might as well install his new ROM...since I will have to setup everything again anyway.

On my JasJar I first used a "German ROM from T-Mobile" (think it was launched december 2005 or something!?)...but that was in...GERMAN of course...and since I do not speak German, I only had that ROM for A2DP.
Then I used Jwright's custom ROM (his first release of it, which I unfortunately did not keep the installation file for).
And then when QTEK came out with their official AKU2 ROM which had PushMail AND A2DP, I installed that one, and that is the one I have now.

I can confirm that that is definately not the rom you used if you have a JasJar... This rom is locked to the IMEI of the phone and just states that this rom is aquired illegal on this machine.
I had sucsess however with the norwegian Qtek rom.

cirion, You are absolutely right, it was not correct linked by me.
I DO use "the latest QTEK WWE ROM version", but the link was not correct. Unfortunately I am not sure exactly which file it was I used, and will not try another "guess" to confuse more people with a new "guestimated-link-to-the-file" either! :-)
There is supposedly a installation file of the QTEK WWE that does not require correct deviceID or IMEI code (even though, there are ways to get around those too...but that makes the installation at lot more complex than it need to, for all us "mere mortals" :-) )....I believe I used that one, since I can not remember that I had to struggle to get the ROM installed (but I have installed so many ROM's...that I honestly are not sure what I did when I installed the one I use right now).
I actually plan to install the latest Norwegian JasJar ROM, and "add A2DP" to it with the "Tornado-A2DP-patch"...so that I am "official" and "legal" again! :-)

Can you please tell us more about the Tornado-A2DP-patch?!
I mean can I just install it on my SPV M5000 without having to install a ROM that is not designed for Orange?!
Appreciate your help!

Hi CerberuS
I have not yet tested/tried it myself. But I have read in the forums about people with Universals, Wizards and Palm (whatever their windows mobile device was called again..?) using it successfully.
And I even today got a PM from a person here that tried it on his O2 Exec, which is an Universal as I understand. He had a newer ROM than me, but no A2DP before he applied that "patch" (is a small cab file of 40 KB or something like that), and he confirmed that he now is able to use A2DP and listen to music. I also have heard others state that this works with all devices that have AKU2 installed.
See this post for more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=48491&highlight=tornado+a2dp+patch
I also have tried to summarize my experiences with A2DP (how to minimize lag/stuttering, my experience with diff headsets and music software so forth), you might find that, and not least others replies with their experiences interesting!?
You'll find that here; http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=53431
I have gotten more tips info from other users after this, and plan to make a "generic A2DP post" (not Universal specific) with all this info and tips later...hopefully during within the next week or so. I need to test the Tornado-Patch myself before that, so that I can include some words about that to it...and then I feel best if I actually have done it myself also! :-)

I actually are in the process of testing out the "Tornado A2DP patch". Meaning, installing the latest Norwegian i-Mate JasJar ROM (AKU2 but no A2DP), then planning to apply the "Tornado A2DP patch"...I have given up waiting for Jwright in other words! :-(
But from what I hear...the "Tornado A2DP patch" works great, so it is just finding "your favorite AKU2" ROM, and adding A2DP to it (if it does not already have it enabled from the start).
[UPDATE] Installed the latest ROM from I-Mate Norway's webpages (AKU2 but no A2DP), and then applied the "Tornado A2DP patch" (which actually was "copying 3 dll's to /Windows folder, and running a 41kb CAB-file with registry settings")...and it worked perfectly! I have now a "official Norwegian JasJar ROM WITH A2DP enabled"! :-)
...it is true in other words (that a lot of other people already have said) that it now is no prob getting A2DP to work on your Universal, just install a AKU 2 ROM, and "add" (=enable) A2DP to it.

I am using the Tornado A2DP patch, and it is working well, but just one issue in my case: If I am playing music and I receive a call, the music does not resume in the headset when the call ends. The media player resumes, and it must be trying to send the sound via bt, because the sound does not come out of the Universal's speakers.
I do not know if it is the fault of the Universal or the headset (I only have the one bt stereo headset to test).
- ROM: Latest WWE ROM from I-mate (AKU 2.0), 1.30.76 WWE
- Headset: Sony Ericsson hbh-ds970s
In order to get the music back in the headset, I have to refresh the bt services for the headset in the Universal's connection settings.

Think this is dependant on both AVRCP implementation on the headset and on the mobile/device...is a lot of techincal info here around this http://www.mobilehandsetdesignline.com/howto/baseband_multimedia_processing/172900140
So I assume we can get different behaviour with different headsets...!?
Seems this is really a challenge for manufacturers (especially in these day when manufacturers rush products without spending the needed time to make SW and HW robust and resilliant), mainly due to the standard not being "crystal clear" (so manufacturers and developers end up doing it slightly different).
I have just re-installed my JasJar this weekend, so I have not had my first "get-phonecall-while-listening-to-music", but I do know that my PocketMusic resumed the music to my iTech PROsound headphones after phonecalls, when I used it last week (with the QTEK WWE ROM)...I presume it will behave same now (same headset, just different ROM and music program on my JasJar).
[UPDATE]
Actually when reading your issues, and the article I referred to here...it seems like it is your headsets that is acting differently than my headset...since MediaPlayer is starting to play again after phonecall, but you hear nothing in headset or from the Universal itself. With my iTech's I get music in headsets automatically.
...but the iTech's on the other hand do not reconnect with my JasJar when iTech's have been off, meaning that everytime I turn on my headsets (typically every morning), I have to reconnect (tap'n'hold and "Set as Wireless Stereo" in bluetooth settings) manually. ...no headset seems to be perfect here! :-(

Yes on both! I have an Universal and have latest Norwegian JasJar ROM (WM5, AKU2).
AVRCP commands work from PocketMusic version 4.2.5, which I am using right now! No plugins needed, just install pocketmusic, and not just that, but play/resume button works flawlessly with both my Motorola HT820's and my iTech PROsound headsets with it!:-)

This is for qtek9000, but works on mdapro, without maupgradenoid.exe, as follow:
1, start the exe file
2, from temp directory extract the files to a directory on your pc
3, with HtcExtendedromtools change in ms.nbf, radio.nbf and nk.nbf headers from QTEK_001 to your original one, the language also (originally is WWE)
4, Then with the mdapro's Romupgradeut.exe you can flash it.

Sometimes it is so easy to make joke and pick fun at others, those you don't even know nor do you have any idea what sacrifices they made so that you can have the freedom to make jokes at others expense.
I am 42 years old, have been around the world and have met all kinds of people, the ones that joke or take liberty with others life expieriences are the ones that have no idea of the cost of thier own freedom.
Yes I have been in South America, not as a student but as a soldier helping other people through the brutality of life and also making it possible for students to travel and expierience new places without the fear of being killed or held hostage because they are American..

Welcome back JWright - very sorry to hear of your troubles down south. Safe to assume all are appreciative of the contributions you and others make. Many thanks.
I have not had much success at all installing any other that iMate released ROM's, despite being reasonably PC/PPC savvy. With the (long awaited) "9000_WWE_13179_130176_10900_A2DP_MSFP" ROM I have encountered a number of problems, depite the OS being perceptibly "fast", after a marathon of failed install attempts using a host of hacks and install methods. The last attempt, after consistent B/loader seizures and device and country code errors, just... worked!
1. Once paired, MP3 audio to my Blueant h/set is garbled, plays at approx. 1/2 to 3/4 normal speed and is unbearable. PWMP, TCPMP and Pocket music are all the same, so I am wondering if it is a corrupted dll or other setting on the JJ ? Disappointing, as A2DP is the reason I flashed the JJ at all. There were also issues with audio during phone use (other party couldn't hear me) but didn't investigate further as yet.
2. If changing back to SEVGA - as some settings are unreadable (ie Softick's Card Export "number of storage cards" setting) in OzVGA - the JJ locks up on the Today screen and requires a soft reset. This can be avoided by constantly tapping the contacts buton during boot, but as soon as I go back to the today screen it locks. I suspect thus far this may be something to do with SPB's Today plugin as it is about the time the screen usually populates with today screen icons.
3. The splash screen "welcomehead.96.png" is the wrong orientation, leaving 1/3 of the screen blank. It's of no consequence as I'd planned on following on posts detailing how to change the image, just thought it was unusual given that most Universal's would be used in landscape mode most of the time anyway.
Any input on the A2DP dilemma would be appreciated. Is there a possibility the final release "13179_130164_10900" would have a different result JWright?
Thnx in advance.

What do you mean by this? How can I check this up on my O2 exec?
So far on mine, I have none of the problems you mentioned. It has to be the programs you installed. I personally think this ROM is better than QTEK's latest ROM. I prefer it against T-Mobile either because of too many customizations that you can't take out. So what I did was just combine Jwright's release and add a few files from T-Mobile's latest ROM and Radio.

Hi cktlcmd. The image file "welcomehead.96.png" is the splash you see on boot depicting some form of solar eclipse - rings and circles of light on dark background with the windows icon in the corner. Having now rotated this image it seems it must be from a device/ROM which boots in portrait mode i.e. iMate Jam etc (480 x 640, not 640 x 480 like the Universal) as the Windows icon in that image determines which orientation it should be. Do you see this image on boot?
This problem is readily resolved by replacing the image with something someone would like anyway. It's the A2DP audio quality that concerns me. I don't suspect the ROM per se, as I have seen no posts here or on similar forums (of which XDA-DEVELOPERS.com is the premier) descibing the same problem. Most describe audio "lag" which doesn't fit the problem experienced.
The reg hack at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\BtA2dpSnd" some have had success with changed nothing on my device. Other software can be eliminated as the cause, because A2DP functionality is the first thing checked when after flashing a new ROM with no third party s/w installed.

I have the QTEK boot splash screen on my O2 exec. I did not notice the picture you described.
I tried playing MP3 music for the whole duration of my new battery I was testing using my Motorolla HT820, I only had 3 episodes where I had about 3 second blank sound during the entire battery period, then it comes back. My Blueant BT h/f (a.k.a "Openbrain" or "Sonorix" OBH-0100) audio sounds as if the player is being paused on/off very rapidly - slowing playback like a 45rpm on 33. Sound is terrible.

6pacman,
Just to verify...
Are you using the correct ROM for your device? Because "9000_WWE_13179_130176_10900_A2DP_MSFP" is for the QTEK 9000 and "JASJAR_WWE_13179_130176_10900_A2DP_MSFP is for the I-Mate JASJAR.
What type of universal do you have? (JASJAR, MDA Pro, EXEC, etc..., I see it says JASJAR on your signature but want to verify anyway)
Have you tried testing things after a fresh ROM install without installing any other applications?
What is your bootloader version? (This can be checked in bootloader mode)
Please provide me the answers to the above as it will help guide me in the right direction to solving your issues.
Also has anyone else using my ROM seen this type of behavior, bad splash screen, fast or slow A2DP streams (plays to fast/slow) and lockups on boot?
Thanks for everyone,

PPC Pacman make same audio jittering due to emulator programming, I dont have A2DP on my Universal nor have bluetooth on in the first place, and it still does that sometimes.

No, browse to page 7 of this thread. You have to rename 3 files then use the Ma_Upgrade_No ID Tool to install JWright's ROM if your device is a non-QTEK 9000.
Thanks CK I will try it tonight and post

Does anyone know where I can download the JWright-rom? The link above is dead, and I can't find it on the FTP .
Thanks!

Not able to access the link. Do I need a username?
I have at least heard nothing from him! :-(
But the rom is here: http://www.segun.ru/out/9000_WWE_13179_130176_10900_A2DP_MSFP.exe

I update my MDA Pro with the latest rom with A2DP for Qtek 9000. I paired my BT (Akono HBH-608) headset. But there is only one handsfree profile and I cannot listen music by this.
Any idea....?

Don't think the Akonos has a a2dp profile, so you won't get a wireless stereo selection on your mda pro

Can someone describe these audio "lags"? Is it related to some out-of-sync a/v issue when playing video files, or slow or broken audio? My Blueant BT h/f (a.k.a "Openbrain" or "Sonorix" OBH-0100) audio sounds as if the player is being paused on/off very rapidly - slowing playback like a 45rpm on 33. Sound is terrible.
I looked up for your Sonorix headset and found it on Mobilefun.co.uk and a comment states that this device is not A2DP capable (http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/5177.htm). Could that be why your getting lags and is A2DP profile showing when you pair the headset with JJ??

Hi there.
I have become the owner of a Jasjar (one week old now...) and am still fidling with it. In order to have a more easier way to call, I purchased a default BT earphone. Bluestar C4. I checked the official website, and it says that the earphone supports profiles for both hands free and music headset. It also does communicate with the speach dialer.
My Jasjar has an older version of the ROM: 1.13.53.WWE dated 09/23/05.
I'm very new in this type of devices, but am OK with windows and Linux.
First thing I noticed was that I only see the profile for handsfree. The supplier "newphone" told me that no A2DP was yet released for this unit by I-mate, but that things could be done by reg-hack.
Reading your comments in this topic, I found that I am in the same situation. I want to keep the scandinavian signs, don't want to mess up and start re-installing all kinds of software, etc... Basicaly what I want is to get the A2DP working with an earphone. Maybe upgrade to a more recent ROM to improve the system.
Why A2DP while using a simple earphone? I'm not the kind of guy that walks the streets, or sits on the train with a 2-ear headset. More the businessman-type on the move, and likes to have some music while waiting at the airport, and still able to receive phonecalls at the same time.
As I am affraid to mess up my phone, could I ask you to give me some guiding information in:
- where to download the latest norwegian Jasjar ROM
- will the Norwegian ROM change the OS language into norwegian?
- how to install it
- any reason why I should use rhe ROMs from this forum?
- is the Tornado patch something that will work with my Bluestar C4?
- how to get this software on my Jasjar
Sounds allmost like asking very much, but I would be very gratefull to get some help. Maybe I can offer in return some free webhosting for information and files for this topic. I have my own servers, so that is no problem.
Looking forward to some feedback.

The title of this thread as well as its length almost convinced me that I could possibly find anything in it about A2DP on Hmalaya/XDAII/MDAII/Qtek 2020.
I dug through the entire tread and I'm starting to believe I'm either very naive or my device is growing old.
Please tell me that this is not so and that there's still hope for A2DP on Himalaya and that at least somebody out there is either working on it or already has solved it.
BTW I've been digging through lots of threads and lots of websites.

Could anybody implement the improved BT stack files of AKU 3 to the A2DP cab file ? I read that these fix the hissing sounds...
