You need to login using your IMEI number for the phone for the page.
There are no more languages yet, I am still waiting to see if there will be a swedish version released soon.
You can also try www.myqtek.com the update is available there also.
I also found this dokument.....hmmm it doesn't mention any Bluetooth updates. Is it not included?????? Strange......

well i'm waiting for a french rom to test. If AD2P is not supported i guess i'll keep the beta rom which runs quite well with my HS820 headset, even if there is troubles in the sound from time to time
Orange France should have released a new rom, but website seems down.. Last release is dated 09 Feb 2006 for nk.nbf file, but i don't know how to get the version?
It says '"outil de mise ŕ jour" (update tool) 2.5.2
Any clue to open the nk.nbf file?

Could it not be possible to extract the AD2P from the test ROM and install it on the official one?

If AD2P is not included.. what a shame .. may be could we ask HTC to provide a good AD2P rom to all of its OEM ? All together, with all people who have Qtek, we may be heard...

There must be a way to get AD2P in the ROM....unfortunatly am I missing the knowledge to do this but I still believe that it is possible.
What do we need???
Files from the test ROM, hmm how do you extract the files from an .exe... I am going to have a look at this.
The only thing to hope for is probably a new ROM update. :(

OK so I have been running this ROM all afternoon and I ahve to say it seems both speedy and stable. I like it better than the Imate which I found buggy, but that could have been due to my biases.

i believe powertray.exe adds the one at the bottom since i am running the latest kjam and it doesn't load that by default but i was messing around and ran thtat icon and got the battery meter in the tray.. also there's keylocktray.exe adds a keylock icon but it does nothing for my Tmobile MDA....

If I run this update will the phone, GPRS access, etc still work ?
Are there any other steps required in performing a ROM update ?

Hi all,
Could I get some feedback on whether it is worth upgrading from the AKU2 test ROM to this one?
Apart from the omission of BT Stereo, are there any other differences?
Does it have the new Connections Manager as featured in the iMate ROM?
Does it (finally) work properly with logmein.com again? I
s it faster, smaller, better in any way?
I find the Qtek test ROM very stable, so I don't want to switch to the new one unless there's something in it for me!

I have just changed from the imate rom to this qtec romm for my 9100. The thing I did notice is that on the old imate rom at the end it asked which provider you are with. This doesn't happen with this rom and so all setting have to be setup again for gprs etc..

Does anyone have TomTom Navigator and the new ROM installed?
I liked the TEST build (especially stereo bluetooth), but found that I had to disable my QTEK password lockout function when using TTN. Otherwise, it would pop up and lock me out of the GPS 5 minutes after I was driving. I was so pleased about that, I returned to ROM 1.6.

I think that's a bug in the test rom. I have the same problem. It even locks me out (password prompt) when I set it to 0 minutes (after about 1 minute or so). Does it to me when I use iGuidance as well.

Not sure about this but thought I would throw it out there. After installing the ROM I decided to let it install the EXTROM to see what all goes in. I noticed that on the first few cab files they are named MP_???, most of them are preceded with MP is what I am saying. Do you think this means that these updates are optimized for the TIOMAP, MP - Multi-Proccessor?

I have not yet installed ANY cingular cab files (from cingulars EXTROM) but I can tell you that my 8125 works with 802.11g with the access point set to G only. This is not new to me, cause the 8125 did that out of the box, but I just thought I would let everyone know it still works.

Well... there could be a few depending on how much you have setup yet. If you are refering to the PDA with the Arrows, that is where you can dissconect your GPRS while connected. If you are talking about the Envolope, that is Direct Push email. All others should be clickable.

On a side note, I like the new com manager, even though the buttons are smaller, I think it is more functional, so much so that I might acctually keep the button mapped to it. =)

Someone said that a2dp was taken out because of the quality issue. I can believe that. Although the test rom have a2dp, it's quality is good. I am getting this high pitch hiss, like poor encoding using a2dp headset. My Dell's built in bluetooth a2dp sounded tons better.
Hopefully they'll solve the problem soon!

I re-installed the Edge Icon Cab from the old Extended rom on my 8125. That re-enabled the big "E" if an Edge connection was active.
Anyway I can get a copy of the cab from you? I use CIngular and I would like to know when I get into an Edge network.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's with all the extra (greyed out) icons in Comm Manager?
Well... there could be a few depending on how much you have setup yet. If you are refering to the PDA with the Arrows, that is where you can dissconect your GPRS while connected. If you are talking about the Envolope, that is Direct Push email. All others should be clickable.
Thanks. Figured the push icon out, but the arrows icon thingy got me a bit puzzled. Just BTW, does the GPRS/EDGE autodetach work properly in this version?

DOES THIS NEW ROM DO THAT?
Well, it does display the Qtek splash at startup now (this is the screen where ROM version numbers are shown). IMO it's a heck of alot nicer than the FUGLY Cingular startup screen tho....
This is a GREAT ROM btw. 33% faster boot up time now than before (60sec vs 1.3 minutes). My only complaint is that the default SIP reghack no longer works.
The battery indicator is a bit lame too....

Actually, i meant the auto-detach, ie. GPRS detaching automatically after an idle time. It acts a bit funky sometimes - the GPRS stays attached even after all the data-connection-using apps go down. I tried both enabling and disabling the relevant registry key, to no avail.
Ah, well, at least in this version i can detach it manually :D
(And both, from Comm Manager and titlebar icon! Weee!)

Only gripe is that damn battery meter at the top, anyone know how to change it back to the taskbar at the bottom?
lewcamino
16th March 2006, 04:31 AM
I can tell you how to have it at the bottom, but I can't tell you how to ged rid of the one on top...yet. The bottom one is removed by one of the CAB files in the EXT ROM "P_removeBTicon_Wizard.cab" I know it says BT icon but it isent bluetooth, it is the battery icon. So if you stop the EXT rom from running by after a hard reset, soft reseting before the "customizing your device in 3 seconds" thing, u will still have the battery in the tray.
I know its weird, but we will get the top battery goen soon.

I think I like it better than the original 8125 ROM but I never had the ROM you speak of.
I also foudn somethign in the Registry that I have never seen on PPC phone device until today.
Change this value to 1, the default for me was zero.
HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting
ShowTimeZonesPage = 1
REG_DWORD
No go to the phone > options > time zones
I remember how my old nokias always had the rigth time, I think this is a way for PPC phone to do that same thing, but I can not prove that it works...yet. If anyone who hops timezones a lot can try it out, that would be cool.

This new ROM doesn't work with my Belkin Pre-N wireless access point (set to mixed mode), even with the 'G' registry hacks applied.
Strange - the same is true of the i-mate AKU2 ROM, but NOT the Qtek test ROM, which works just fine once the hack has been applied.
So it's back to the test ROM for me.

I TOO AM CURIOUS FROM OTHER 8125 USERS!!!
I am specificall turned off when other phone model #'s and names show up when I use their roms... Not all of them do it but some...
DOES THIS NEW ROM DO THAT?
The EXTRom as you probably realize by now gets rid of the battery meter we had on the Cingular 1.8 rom. And before it did that it had both that battery tray meter and the crappy battery meter on the top that is part of the wm5 os. When you enable the clock that battery meter only shows during the today screen. I use SPB Power Plus and it puts a awesome power meter that spans the width of the screen with a bar for about every 5% of battery life. I just ignore the one that is there in the OS.
Also, as most people who have seen my posts on the iMate and now the Qtek 2.x roms is that do not install the Cingular cabs as most people who have problems with the 8125 on these 2 ROMS is because they tried to install the Cingular EXTRom cabs and they break wifi, gprs, and others. The only ones that are safe are ones that only change a minor registry setting, like the one above that changes the G icon for GPRS to E for EDGE when EDGE is available. This has no affect on the connection speed as it would connect to EDGE anyway, just not give you feedback that it was.

My 8125 is still unlocked after the upgrade. I just switched over from a Cingular Blue to a Cingular Orange SIM nto get push email working correctly. Prior to unlocking, I couldn't do this on the original ROM. Based on this, I would say my phone is still unlocked.

Ok here's what I think...
I think you are right. If you go to sounds and notifications you can set it to notify you with a sound, vibrate doesnt work, and the device doesnt turn on when it notifies you. I think this IS by design. If you got 100 emails a day (or more in some cases) your phone would be on ALL day. So I have concluded that this was intentional on M$'s part. So its all good, plus I don't know if my 8125 ROM vibrated when e-mail was received either. Can anyone with original 8125 ROM confirm this?
As for the stereo BT profile, I think it was already confirmed form HTC that with this ROM there is a sound quality issue when using that BT profile, some kind of humming? Read toward the beginning of this thread I think its in there.
Later; Lew
P.S. Based on this finding (push email notification) I would STRONGLY recommend this ROM to any STOCK 8125 owners... the device is MUCH faster. Like voice command for instance, there is almost no delay from he time I say "Call cingular" till it pops up cingular in contacts.

Yeah, but both of your SIM's are actually from Cingular, so the other time could have just been a bug. It's just that I'm with Rogers in Canada and I don't want to end up with a SIM locked 8125 after the upgrade :( But I really want to install this thing :)

@litevsky:
Well, when I originally got my 8125, I popped in my blue SIM and got a "SIM Locked: Enter unlock code" message at startup. I then used lokiWiz to unlock the phone and the blue SIM worked. When I upgraded with the Qtek ROM, the blue sim still worked. However, I needed the orange SIM that originally came with the 8125 (it was an Eval unit from Cingular) to get push email working. The legal IP address doesn't change every 15 seconds on Orange like it does on Blue you see. So, I popped in the orange SIM and that worked fine too.
Based on this, I'm thinking I'm unlocked still.... I guess you can decide. I'll see if I can track down someone with a T-Mobile SIM to test.

hmmm... here's something interesting. I was running network speed tests from www.2wire.com and getting a pretty consistant 60-70 kb/s, so I thought I'd try WiFi. Went into Conn Mgr and activated my home AP. Test speeds at 2wire jumped right up.... until direct push tried to sync then the entire connection went to GPRS speed again even though the WiFi Icon was still active. Now I know that direct push always uses GPRS, but it looked like it tore down the entire WiFi connection from the point it tried to sync. To regain WiFi speeds, I had to go into conn mgr, disable WiFi, disable direct push then re-enable WiFi.
Bug or feature I wonder....
Btw: Edge speed is too slow at 60kb. I'm going to compare with another 8125 that doesn't have the Qtek Rom. There's a rather large Cingular extended rom cab called Singed_gprsstall_1228.sa.cab that I didn't install. If there's a noticable speed difference between mine and a stock 8125 then I think I might just load it...

Ack! Don't install the gprsstall cab. It will break wifi completely. It installs a radio dll that is incompatible with the new ROM.
I think the issue of opening gprs when a push session starts may be unavoidable. (Unless MS makes a change that allows the push heartbeat to dynamically switch to using wifi when it becomes active.)
I know that using the cingular proxy results in faster http transfers via edge, but what I don't know is how proxies do or don't affect push. Push is done via http, but obviously neither the actual content pushed nor the heartbeat are cached.
Cingular may intentionally throttle all http traffic that doesn't pass through their proxy, but I don't know for sure.

Yikes  Thanks for the advice on the gprsstall cab summiter.... I owe you one!
I'll turn off the medianet proxy on the stock 8125 to make all things apples to apples when I do the EDGE throughput testing.
As far as direct push goes, the switch to WiFi would be tricky since the public IP changes. DP would have to notice this and nail up a new connection to the Exchange frontend using the WiFi IP. Not impossible, I guess...

I'm also desperately waiting for a newer German ROM and hope that it'll show up on this page soon!
Greetings from Berlin,

Hi,
I have a 9100, Belgian-Dutch version. Wanted to upgrade to the WWE version posted here. But no go, it says it's a wrong vendor ID?!?? This is an unlocked phone, bought at the local FNAC (large electronics store), without any subscription.
So: is there a Belgian-Dutch ROM on it's way, or how can I work around this and install the QTEK WWE ROM on my QTEK Dutch 9100?
Thanks guys for this great site!!

I didn't meant the SIM-Lock, it's also for unlocking the device for Roms in other languages.
Hades77
17th March 2006, 02:52 PM
its not a sim-lock but a brander-lock. You can only update ROMs from the same company you bought the device, i.e.
Qtek ROM --> newer Qtek ROM
Vodafone ROM --> newer Vodafone ROM
T-Mobile ROM --> newer T-Mobile ROM
that lock is called CID-lock and each and every device has one, so you need to remove it no matter where or in which bundle you bought it.

I believe it is a battery saving feature not a bug and that is why it made it through QA.
You misunderstand the 'bug' - I set these notifications, and you are right in that I am not notified... BUT the reason I wasn't notified was because no email was coming through; it had disconnected the active GPRS connection. If I woke the device up it connects the GPRS and finds email, but the push email connection is not kept alive when the device is in standby. I don't see how this can be by design, as both the imate and test Qtek ROMs do as expected - keep GPRS/Push Email connection alive and wake up to notify of new email as defined in the notifications menu (in my case, a sound + vibrate).... Otherwise what would be the point in Push Email if you have to keep switching the device on to check?! ;-)
I too am surprised this ROM was released with such a major flaw.
JB.

Ok, the results are in. I just ran a side by side EDGE speed test between my Qtek equipped 8125 and a stock 8125. Proxy off. The results were identically dismal (30-60kb/s). I guess EDGE just sucks here.

@jimbr32:
Try this: Browse to www.myipaddress.com and record your IP address. Try this again periodically during the day. Is your address changing? If so, then you have your problem with direct push and it has nothing to do with the ROM.
Let me explain. I had your exact problem with my Blue AT&T wireless SIM. The issue was that their DHCP policy changed my 8125's legal address once every 15 seconds. When that happened, the nailed up connection to exchange was lost and had to be re-established. This re-establishment process only occurs every 9 minutes when the Wizard sends a wake-up heartbeat. I needed to go onto Cingular's "Orange" network by changing SIMS to fix this. Interestingly, Cingular has stated officially that direct push is only supported on the Orange network.

I installed the Qtek ROM on my MDA (T-Mobile US). I did notice that when it runs the Customizations the phone defaults to the Cingular band. I did I test by reinstalling the iMate ROM. I was able to get on the T-Mobile band. Then I reinstalled the Qtek ROM, with the Customizations again and got on the Cingular band, then I reinstalled it again minus the Customizations and was able to get the T-Mobile band. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but I thought I would put it out there.
I did install the extended_rom files 1 at a time and these are the ones I did not install, to get it to work properly for me:
P_PT_EnableSPN_Wizard (don't know what this really does, but somehow it kept causing me to only see the Cingular band)
P_pIE_Qtek_WWE_Wizard (cuz I didn't want the IE custimizations)
P_Theme_Qtek_Wizard (cuz I didn't want the Qtek theme)
Then I added the T-MO custs. that I wanted from the Retail Ext. Rom. Everything is working well thus far. Hope this helps.

I've upgrade my 9100 with the latest WWE Qtek Rom, when I did this the batterymeter was on 83%. During the setup (upgrade) they warned that the batterylevel must be higher than 50%, so no problem I thought. But guess what happend: when the ugrade was completed (after 7 minutes) the batterymeter was at 100%. How could this be possible???
- could this have a negative impact for the battery-life: less powersupply??
Who can explain this?

Hope somebody can help me out with this ROM
Downlaoded the ROM and run the update. Everything goes fine till up to 40% of the update. :(
At exactly 40% it disconnects my device and I have to run the recovery procedure. This goes fine, so no harm. After that I see IPL v2.17 and SPL v2.17 and retry the update... exactly the same problem, but now a little before the 40% it gets disconnected.
I tried the other language ship roms and they all work fine, just not this WWE one... unfortunatly I don't speak any of the other languages...
Does somebody encountered the same problem? Is there an other location where I can download it from?
Thanks in adnvance!

Yikes! Major Battery drain when direct push can't connect!
While I was working in the RFI shielded Computer room yesterday, my phone went from 80% to 10% in about an hour! It would appear that if AUTD2.0 loses its connection it agressively tries to re-connect with a resultant high battery usage. I'm also beginning to think that battery life in general is shorter with direct push enabled. I'm still quantifying this tho. I used to get 2-3 days between charges and so far I've not gone more than 1 day. However it could be due to higher "playing with the new toy" related usage on my part...
One other point. I've read a few posts about the "my battery magically went to 100% after the upgrade" effect. I believe its due to the nature of the POS battery meter provided by AKU2.0. I'm sure most people know this, but for the new folks just doing the upgrade, this little gem only has three positions: full, half full and !!!!yikes-you're-almost-drained. Therefore, if your battery is over 50% and you do the upgrade, the new little MPOS icon will magically show 100%. (ask me how I really feel about that battery meter).
You know, the Treo700 has a battery meter right where this one is, but its a really nice one that shows the battery draining in small increments. WTF?

yah the battery meter is a pos but the one that i am talkin about is the one on my today screen when using spb plus. I also noticed that when i reset my device and its at less than 100% it would automatically be at 100 after the reset.?? any clue what that is?

So, refering to your explanation, it doens't matter if your battery is at 50% - 75% or 100% before upgrading, after upgrade it will rize up to 100%??
ZeBoxx
18th March 2006, 08:51 PM
alternatively - if you check with a different app that shows the actual percentage (Batti/whatever), does that still show the correct % ?
Sleuth255
18th March 2006, 08:52 PM
Yep to both. My SPB battery meter has been accurate. As soon as it goes below 50% the POS battery shows half full. When the SPB battery meter goes to about 2 bars left the POS battery shows an empty battery with an exclaimation point.
I have no explanation as to how the SPB meter can jump to 100% after the upgrade as mine didn't do that.

I'm not convinced there's actually a problem with the battery. From what I've noticed, when the phone is in use it seems to drain at about the same rate as it did with the Tmobile USA rom. When in standby, however, it seems to drain at a MUCH lower rate. When I went to bed last night it was at 100% and when I woke up this morning, almost 8 hours later, it was still at 100% and I had two unread emails. I thought "no way" but when I plugged it into the charger, the light went from orange to green in under 5 minutes. So I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth and I'm also sticking with this QTek rom unless I need to return the phone to tmobile for some reason. And even then I think I'd rather yank the plug while flashing and kill it then put back that nasty tmobile rom. :)

i can enable / disable functions as i like
i can exit comm manger with no problems
But when i go to Start----Settings----System tab----Memory----Running Programs
and i try to stop Comm Manager from the running program list I get this MESSAGE:
" This program is not responding because it is busy, waiting for a response from you, or has stopped running.
To close the program, tap End Task. You will lose unsaved information in this program."
Any ideas why this is happening. Did not happen with the my previous ROM.

WLAN is used when it's found, not GPRS connection?
Sleuth255

WLAN is used when it's found on this ROM. the WiFi connection overrides either the Internet or Work connection depending on the choice you made when the initial connect dialog was displayed.
However.... if you have direct push enabled then the WiFi connection will be reverted to GPRS on the next heartbeat. The solution is to disable direct push before you enable WiFi. Co-incidently, these two functions are right next to each other in Comm Manager.

I use another method:
1. Make sure push-email is always enabled;
2. Enable WiFi;
3. Wait until it finds an access point;
4. Disable GPRS by holding the red phone (disconnect) button for a few seconds.
GPRS won't reconnect anymore because ActiveSync detects a working internet connection. On my machine, that is... :)

Like voice command for instance, there is almost no delay from he time I say "Call cingular" till it pops up cingular in contacts.\

I am still running original Cingular ROM (1.8.11.1) and vibration DOES work when new email arrives.

Hi gang,
I installed this new WWE ROM on my Dutch Qtek 9100 (thanks for the pointers to the CID unlocking stuff!!), and I must say, gald I did it!
- more stable: hanging after disconnecting from PC gone, no everyday softresets anymore
- runs more smoothly ... apps seems to start a bit quicker, pretty subjective, I know
I do HATE the missing clock in the topright corner, however. I use a batterymeter from iLaunch. The battery-indicator in this ROM is useless.
Installed apps:
- i Launcher
- Pocketweather
- SPB Diary
- GPRS-enhancement hack
- wifi G hack
Now it finally works well, this nice little phone.
If anyone knows haow to get rid of that batterymeter, and replace it with a clock, please let me know!
Thanks!

Any speculations (or facts) when next ROM will be released? Will it be another two months to wait?

Did any else notice that the password lock timeout set to 0 minutes doesn't work the way it used to?
When you set the "prompt if device unused for" to 0 minutes, it should prompt for a password only if you turn off, then turn on the phone. Now it will lock the screen and prompt you for a password every minute even if the phone if left on, either on battery or plugged in.

That's true, the Dot11SupportedRateMaskG is also not in the WWE ROM,but I have read many times and places that it is enabled, maybe in another way.

I've been using the AKU2 Rom from iMate for several weeks now, and I've been experiencing some serious slowdowns or loading issues on my MDA Vario when listening to music of using the phone to download the headers of my email accounts.
For example, when I configured my email accounts and wanted to listen to some music, I started up media player and the loading bar wouldn't stop loading.
I installed the rom with the extended rom content, so their might be another issue there. But just curious if anyone else has been experiencing some slowdowns of loading issues with the Qtek rom aswell?
I'm asking this because I read somewhere that the 2 roms don't really differ to much from eachother. :?:
Note: Haven't installed any other programs yet, so that can't be the problem.

Hey, has anybody noticed that the keyboard doesn't light up when you extend it? IIRC it did this on my 8125 before I upgraded but I'm not sure. Now I have to hit a key to get it to light up. Does anybody with a stock 8125 want to test my recollection plz?

Anyone notice it takes about 3x the time for this rom to boot up compared to earlier roms?

Takes longer to boot but you don't have to do it twice a day anymore.

Don't have a stock 8125, but I got a Qtek 9100 yesterday (ROM 1.1.7.5 radio 1.1.10, ext ROM 1.1.7.105) and its keyboard doesn't light up until a key is pressed.
