View Full Version : Odd Memory glitch

My device died a very, very odd death last night- I was running Word, opening a big word file, and tried to save it. The device crashed, telling me I didn't have enough memory.
I went to start, settings, system, memory, and I had a memory allocation slider again. Storage memory and program memory were devided about the way the ROM/RAM are- 3/2, but I could move the slider about and give myself more program memory or not. It also said wierd things, like saying I had -.06 MB of program memory availible, and to change the slider.
So, *cough*, I did. Then it hung again, and I couldn't leave the today screen, so I soft-reset it. I lost my word document, but I ended up with something else instead!
Now, instead of my Universal having the standard memory allocation, 43.72 MB of Storage total and 47.93 MB of Program total...
I have 43.72 MB of Storage... and 50.16 MB of Program.
No idea where it came from.
Any ideas, thoughts, helpful hints, suggestions?

Could you post some screenshots, please?
And what branding is your Universal?

It's an Imate Jasjar. I tried to get a digital camera snapshot of the screwed up wonky memory slider, (for obvious reasons), but this was at four in the morning and I didn't get a chance. I realize it's not as helpful as you (or I, for that matter) would have liked.
For some reason it doesn't take pictures at full resolution... but the meaning is clear enough.
Not sure how it can further help you, however.
Frankly, I'm not sure what to make of it. Normally, I would think nothing of it, but almost a full 2.5 MB simply appeared out of nowhere. I've used the device all day, and it seems to be working just fine, so...
I just wondered if anyone else had ran into this really odd problem. The word document wasn't abnormaly large or anything more than text, (125 KB, about), and I was running just... magic button, the phone program, and word itself.

I have just checked my O2 XDA Exec and I have 43.72 of storage memory and 49.93 of program memory which is pretty close to what you have.

I'm not disputing it's not possible. I've seen other memory amounts there as well. But for some reason it suddenly changed, and I have no idea why or how.
I don't mind, certainly... I wish more space would magically appear in my storage memory!
