When I get an email via Push email form my exchange server my device doesnt wake up and tell me, It gets the email, and when I turn on the screen I see the notification, but until then it doesnt beep or turn on or anything to let me know. Is anyone else having this issue? With my old ROM it synced as items arrived the OLD way with exchange, and that woke my device just fine. I like this new QTEK ROM but I can't use it if It don't tell me I have emails. BTW It will wake up for SMS and let me know.
Please post your findings, and what ROM you are using.
I'm using the NEW QTEK 2.17.7.2 rom
Thanx; Lew

Not sure I would want it wake the device for email as this would limit the standby time of the device. Would be nice if it were an option though.

I am using the same ROM as you, on a Qtek - and experiencing the same symptoms. However, the device does ring/vibrate (depending on your settings) when a new mail comes in.

When does yours ring/vibrate for email? I am trying to find anything to make this work, cause I REALLY liek this ROM, it faster than the cingular ROM :)

Come on guys, its a simple settings change:
Start > Settings > Sounds & Notifications > Notifications > Messaging: New e-mail message.
The default settings in these aku2 roms is for no sound. So just change it.

Vibrate on new mail is working for you?? You appear to be the only one who has this working. What did you do to get it to work?

Gee thanks smart ass.
You think we haven't already been through the notification settings?? The problem of not vibrating when new mail arrives (no matter how it's set) has already been verified by many other folks in another thread, and reported to MS. So if you've magically got yours working, please share the info.
BTW, as far as waking up when new mail arrives, MS says that behavior is intentional so as not to impact battery. What that means is that if you have new mail set to notify you onscreen of a new mail, it will not wake the device and you will only see the notification when you bring the device out of standby. Audio notifications of new mail appear to work just fine though.

Ok here's what I think... whether he is a smart as or not, and whether he realizes it or not, he is kinda right (even though we all know that setting.)
If you go to "Start > Settings > Sounds & Notifications > Notifications > Messaging: New e-mail message" you can set it to notify you with a sound, vibrate doesn't work, and the device doesn't turn on when it notifies you. I think this IS by design. If you got 100 emails a day (or more in some cases) your phone would be on ALL day. So I have concluded that this was intentional on M$'s part. So its all good (also I REALLY LIKE THIS ROM, vs stock 8125), plus I don't know if my 8125 ROM vibrated when e-mail was received either. Can anyone with original 8125 ROM confirm this?

New mail will not turn on the screen..this is indeed by design as confirmed by Jason at MS. Per MS it is to conserve power.
New mail audio notifications work as expected.
New mail vibrate does not work, it apparently should, and MS has been notified, and they in turn have notified Imate. Whether Qtek and other device makers have been notified, I don't know.
There is a thread on the vibrate-on-new-email problem in the Wizard forum that was started almost 2 weeks ago. That is also where the notification and feedback from MS is quoted. The problem has been forwarded to the WM folks inside MS.
Hope this clears things up a tad. =)

indeed it does. I dont NEED the vibrate, it would be nice but, I dotn NEED it. Plus I must say that I am SOOO INTENT on keeping this ROM (me likes, much faster than stock cingular) that I almost dont care at all...

Is this problem unique to the Wizards?

The sound notification works for me. When push e-mail comes in it plays my sound. The wav file I use for e-mail notification is on my SD card to boot.
Before push e-mail I used the Exchange AUTD feature and that actually did turn the screen on and played my sound. With push e-mail it just plays the sound, but the screen doesn't light up. I actually like this better. Usually my phone is out of sight anyway so I don't care if the screen lights up or not. This way it conserves battery better.
As to vibrate, if I set the phone to vibrate using the Comm button it vibrates when I get mail as well, and it still doesn't turn on the screen.
If I set the new mail notification to vibrate under Sounds and Notifications it also vibrates and doesn't turn on the screen.
I am running the stock ROM I have not installed anything on it. I have not done any customization to make these things work. They just work for me. I notice most users reporting this are using the new Cingular 8125. I am using an OEM Qtek 9100.

It seems that the issue isn't really an issue unique to push email. I'm using VeriChat (IM client) and when IM's arrive, the notification while in standby has exactly the same behavior as with push email (sound if volume is up, but never vibe, whereas vibe will work if the screen is on).
I think the issue is that the device is set to never vibrate when in standby. Period.
An incoming phone call wakes the device. Vibe will work since the device is already in a powered-up state. SMS is the same thing - the arrival of an SMS causes the device to wake up; therefore the vibe can proceed since it is no longer in standby.
Pre-push AUTD includes the receipt of an SMS triggering a pull - that's what allowed the device to wake up and vibe.
Push email (and, for that matter, scheduled pull email) does not wake up the device; neither does an IM client.
What is still baffling me is why some people seem to not have this issue. It appears to have less to do with the actual device and more the ROM (which makes sense). I'm still hoping that someone with more reverse engineering skills than I have can diff the extended ROM's of a device where this works (like the QTEK out of the box?) with one where it doesn't (e.g., the update for Cingular) and put together a little cab that would fix this annoying quirk.
I'm thinking that those of us who have the issue (and care about it!) may want to pool together a pot to reward the first to solve this problem... Just a thought..

I have the QTEK 9100 and 2.17 ROM. Have the same problem, on msg receive I only get sound no vibrate (when device is off). I have heard from others who have other WM5 devices that they do get the vibrate and when I spoke to the MSFT product guys at CTIA they all seemed surprised that this does not work. So I dont think its by design, its a problem with the 2.17 ROM that we all have. There probably is a workaround. Anyone hear of one?
