Can you comment as to if WAD slows teh Wiz down much. I've been tempted to play around with it because it seems pretty cool, but I've heard it can make teh phone failry sluggish. Also a guess as to how long your reboot times are would be appreciated.

In my experience, WAD uses about 2MB of memory to run, so -- YES -- it will slow down the device. I only use WAD myself when I REALLY want to build a customized look for a special event(s). For me, it's not practical for everyday use.

If you DO install it, I would recommend a Manual start, or a time-delay start after a reboot, instead of loading on startup, as it will freeze your device. When I use it, I have it set to load with WA2 on a 30-second delay. Then -- other than the sluggish behaviour -- I don't have any problems with it.

Well it slows it down just a little bit but less than using PocketBreeze or SpbPlus. And if you consider that with any other program you have to use your stylus for everything Wisbar makes surfing much faster. I am an IT and I have to do everything in a hurry (notes, docz, messaging, calling, connecting to servers, browsing, etc) and this is the best solution I've found so far (believe me I've tried everything). You could also try overclocking (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=255771&highlight=overclock). I overclocked mine to 240MHz and it's working fine. Even if it looks like the system is overloaded with all those pages and shortcuts the reboot times are quite the same as when using the other programs I mentioned earlier.
So in conclusion I would say Wisbar is great. Who does not like to play around with such a good looking phone. It really pushes personalization at the max. After all that is why we bought PPC :)

Hi everybody,

Another noobie question!!!

There's some great skins on this thread and I've really learnt a lot by reading the first 51 threads but can someone tell me how to get a wifi and a bluetooth icon on the today page using spb pocket plus. When I try to add a new shortcut it isn't displayed anywhere in the lists of options available.
I am continuing to read the last 25 threads to see if the answer lies in there.

Also, how can I replace the spb icons with my own customised icons. Does anyone know where the folder is located to drop my own icons in?

Any help would be appreciated.

Heres what 've added so far:

Spb Pocket plus

Its all working really sweet!!! So far....

I have a folder on my storage card that houses the icons I like to use. Most of mine are used with PocketBreeze and iLauncher, so I just navigate to the storage card folder through iLauncher to use them.

This has been discussed before, but it might have been over at howardforums where I saw it. There is a program out there calle BTtoggle or something, but VJ has written a great app called VJvolubis (sp?) that you can get from www.vijay555.com. I have had problems using it for wifi though, I don't think it supports the wiz totally, but for the price it can't be beat.

Also, how can I replace the spb icons with my own customised icons. Does anyone know where the folder is located to drop my own icons in?

This is discussed at spb's page somewhere. You will need to have minimal PS ability though. I thinks its tougher to do thatn creating icons for iLauncher personally.

edit: found teh web addy. Looks like they have a forum now too. Bout time IMO.

I'm totally impressedwith all your Today screens! I'm new to this and still finding my way, so maybe you could answewr one simple question.

In most of the screen shots it shows a "box" containing something like this "Tuesday 19th December 2006" Mine also has that but it also includes the time.

Most of your screenshots show the time in the top bar near the volume icon.

How can i achieve that please?

Many Thanks

A lot of people are using Wisbar Advance and Wisbar Desktop which is a skinning program that allows for all the really cool skins people are using and which has that time feature.

You can also go to start --> settings --> settings --> clocks & alarms and then go to the "More" tab. There is a check box in there that says to have the clock in the title bar.

If your talking about xelecin's vista skin you can get it from his site

http://xcskins.50webs.com/index2.html

If in the future you would want to convert a skin from vga to qvga you would need to resize all images to 50% their original size, since vga is 480 x 640 and qvga is 240 x 320, though sometimes images might not look too good, but then again that might have been only in my case.

You can do a google search for Wisbar Advance QVGA Vista and it will pull up what you need. Or you can just go to the company forums and do a serach there. I have it on my 8125.

I'll chime in here if no one minds (actually I do it either way)

1. WA2 plus this theme (http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9264) I had to barely customize it to get the start menu to work though. You can find teh .tsk file here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=287977&highlight=rltoday)
2. Probably ILauncher from SBSH. If you go to their forums in teh ILauncher resources section there are a ton of icons. Look for teh one by one thread. edit - its actually a combination of iLauncher and PocketBreeze
4. Weather panel with the vista portable QVGA theme. It takes a little time to put together, but its pretty slick.

Dive in. each software's respective forums are very informative.

I am very curious to know what PocketBreeze skin that is. I like it.

Isn't that a waste of space in the mid section, which can be used to display information instead of just.. a picture. Anyway, the standard notification will pop up and repeat itself, which doesn't contribute much if it to were to be work together with PhoneAlarm, other than to make it prettier. Anyway, the easier (costl-ier) way to change the top icons is to use Wisbar.

Might be a daft question but here i go.

Been using Wisbar advance @ desktop for a week or so now and there is one annoying thing that is getting right up my nose, why is it that when i install WA2 and WA does it not load the background skin that i use it keeps defaulting to the WM5 blue background (wallpaper) but the top menu and softkey menu are in my designated skin. I use a SPV M5000 and when i switch between screens (landscape then portrait on swivel screen) the background wallpaper disapears. Also my drop down menu seems to "loose" its programs menu.

Is there a simple switch i am not selecting here..??

As originally posted here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1097832#post1097832). Double post it here to keep the iPhone discussion there and theming here.

The top section is done by cLaunch, while bottom section is with phoneAlarm. Icons and phoneAlarm skin available at the original post above.

Attached the TSK for it (allBlack.tsk). If you use this theme, you will still see grey in the middle section. To make it all black, create the following values, type "Binary" and give both the value "00 00 00 00". Then restart your system (switch your phone off and on first before soft reset)

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\allBlack.tsk\Color_S oftkeyFlatCenter
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\allBlack.tsk\Color_T itleFlatCenter

Use this allBlack.tsk theme (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1117992#post1117992)

The values Color_SoftkeyFlatCenter and Color_TitleFlatCenter should not exist, so you will need to create them.

Note: You will only get the "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\allBlack.tsk\" when you use this theme. If you are using other theme, you will get "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\xxx.tsk\" where "xxx" if the name of the theme you use.

Ok. I've finally got "the letter" to have this removed. You need to get it from somewhere else. Good luck.

There are more than 500 download, you ought to able to get it somewhere. :)

-original post-

Attached new version with dynamic clock and calendar using rlToday. Also, top and bottom bar hidden using Vj's toggleToday. All available from this forum, just to a search. Attached the rlToday skin. You may need to adjust the XML (rlToday) for the height.

As you see, the clock is not as good as it should be. All the hands seems to be running away from the center. I have to use a PNG as the hourhand just to fill in the middle. Anyone know how to solve this without using a PNG as the hourhand?

Happy modding :D

I'm not sure if you can go into the 'Settings' menu. But you can go to the individual settings by following these instructions (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=289005)

WHat program do you use for your weather? That one looks a lot nicer and more informative than mine. Also, can you post the HTC green theme? I haven't been able to find it anywhere.

I'm using ADBWeather Plus for Weather. I LOVE it... automatically updates through out the day so I always have the latest weather outlook on my phone.

And, I attached the HTC Green theme to this post.
It is indeed a tricky one to find.
I'm loving it though. The green is so cool looking :)

The values Color_SoftkeyFlatCenter and Color_TitleFlatCenter should not exist, so you will need to create them.

Note: You will only get the "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\allBlack.tsk\" when you use this theme. If you are using other theme, you will get "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\xxx.tsk\" where "xxx" if the name of the theme you use.
Thank you for the work that you have done on this. It looks great!

I am having trouble with two things, though. First, I cannot seem to get the carbon fiber portion to display behind phoneAlarm. I've looked at the settings a few times and cannot figure out what I might have set wrong. Second, how do you get phoneAlarm so close to the bottom of the screen? I tried to change the "cLaunch Height" setting just a pixel or two at a time to make cLaunch bigger, to try to push phoneAlarm down further, but I end up getting a scrollbar, even with toggleToday enabled. (It did remove the top and bottom bars, though.) I also used HideTray to hide system tray. The only other issue is that occasionally, the last three icons in cLaunch disappear. If I do something else and come back to the Today screen though, they tend to come back.

Everything seems to work well though, it would just be nice if I could get things working perfect, since yours looks so good. I tried using rlToday, though I'm not sure if I like how it goes beneath cLaunch, so it kinda sticks out. I like the default three rows of four icons, and it looks odd if there is one row with just two icons.

Anyway, if you could offer a couple pointers, that would be great. I searched the forums a few times for assistance, but my questions seem pretty specific to this particular project. :)

I managed to fix the problem I described where phoneAlarm would not display the background properly. I went over the .skn file several times and compared it to skins shipped with phoneAlarm and could not find any problems. I even converted the background to .bmp and changed the .skn accordingly and it still did not work. Finally, I changed the background to cf.png and changed the .skn file accordingly, and it immediately started working.

Now, I need to find out why phoneAlarm won't slide all the way to the bottom of the Today screen.

Now, I need to find out why phoneAlarm won't slide all the way to the bottom of the Today screen.
I fixed this one, too. The problem is that even though I downloaded a program to hide the system tray, it was just hiding it. (Which is odd, because the program was advertising itself as a way to reclaim more screen real estate. I don't know how it manages that if it is just hiding it and leaving the space still unusable.) I did some searching, and actually found the answer here (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Registry). I needed to edit the registry a bit to hide the icons for the battery meter, comm manager, and screen rotation. All those things still work, they're just hidden now, and with no icons to display, the system tray disappears.

Everything seems to work now. Even all of the icons load. The only issue is if I slide out the keyboard and the screen rotates, when I scroll back, the menus are back, so I need to use toggleToday again. No biggie though.

Thanks again for your hard work making these icons and stuff! :)

Software Attached
SMS Screen:

Microsoft Streets Pocket Edition
Weather:
SBSH Pocket Weather, taking up whole screen with Time fade at the top

Stocks: Opera opening to NASDAQ

Camera:
Built in camera software

Calc:
Skinned black stock calc

iPod: pPod

I'm going to redo and upload the Calendar and Clock icons so they can be used for %Date% and clock face within the clock icon, and that leads to a plain screen with just the clock bar... As I get to see more of the iphone gui, I can make changes as needed

I also attempted to resize the image, but it did not fix it. What I think fixed it was when I renamed the file. What got me thinking is perhaps \Program Files\phoneAlarm\iPhone\iPhoneCarbonFiber.png was exceeding an allowed length for a folder path and filename. Do you have phoneAlarm and the skin installed in \Program Files? Another issue that I thought might be causing a problem, was that I was using an earlier version of phoneAlarm. (I bought it for an older Pocket PC, before I bought my mobile.) The upgrade was free for me from their web site. But I did manage to get it to work before the upgrade, by renaming the image to cf.png. Upgrading might be something that you want to try, though. The only other thing that I did that might have fixed it, but I doubt it, is I removed the tab spacing between the screen coordinates in the .skn file. (Instead of 0, ..., 0, cf.png I changed it to 0,...,0,cf.png.) That is all that I can think of right now, but I will go over my settings again and update you if I notice anything else. It took me four hours altogether, and it was near midnight when I finished, so I might be forgetting something.

Awesome! That must be the problem, then. What version of phoneAlarm are you using? The others might be using a newer version, which is why they are not experiencing the problems that we had. The latest version might not take issue with tab spacing. Congratulations on getting it to work.

What you need to do is open Phone.skn in Notepad. Look for a line that starts, "Image_Background=" Just use backspace or delete to remove the spacing between the numbers. You want it to look like, "Image_Background=1,0,0,iPhoneCarbonFiber.png" Without the spaces, it looks like it works.

Yes, you have to create both values in the registry. I looked around for registry editors and after reading some reviews, downloaded the trial of Resco Explorer 2005 (http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/default.asp). It has several utilities, including an easy-to-use registry editor. It works great!

Is there any tool which can be set to cut an image at exactly 32 pixels like a macros?

PNG is just another graphic format like GIF, BMP, JPG, etc. Most programs use a single PNG for each icon, though I have not used Pocket Plus. It is possible that all of the icons are just tiled in one large PNG file and it displays them based on coordinates. This is unlikely, though. If you are looking to just open a PNG file, most freeware viewers should be able to manage it. Internet Explorer can display them, but it messes up some aspects of them, like transparencies. I think this is fixed with Internet Explorer 7, though.

I used Wisbar Advance Desktop and used the iPhone WAD file found here (POST#6) :

Then I just keep tweaking it for my use. I just got WAD and found it very customizable. The digital clock is a feature built in, as well as renaming the icons. I just used the icon files already included from the osx.rar in the above thread, linked them to whatever application I use and put the appropriate text. I made some backgrounds, and voila!

Not interested in the icons etc, BUT I would like to obtain a true all black today screen, the top and bottom bars are both Black (reg edit as mentioned earlier), as is the main screen area (allblack.tsk), what I cannot get around are the white bars that exist at the top and bottom of the today screen, these are thin white lines (Today Screen Lines) any thoughts on a reg edit entry to turn these black - I know the correct value but need the exact name to add to the reg edit - doesn't happen on WM2203SE devices it would appear to be WM2005 specific.

OK, I've been messing around with this iPhone theme for a little bit now, just trying to see if I can do it basically. Using it as a learning experience. But anyways, I've done a good job I think, using the available tools and getting things to work. But After using the VJStart to remove the Start bar a the top, there is now a gray bar going across the top. However, I am using the AllBlack Theme which I though would stop that from happening. Am I missing something somewhere that would remove that and make it all black?

And I can verify that I had to remove the tabs from the skin in order to get the carbon fiber pattern to show up.

Thanks to everybody for the help.

How do I get rid of (or chage to black) the gradient bars below start menu and above bottom bar (there's actually one above the start meny too.

I've gone through the entire iFone (take that you apple wanks) thing manually because one thing just lead to another. I really want those bars gone.

I ended up using rlToday (thanks hanmin) and after some tweaking it's looking pretty damn good. The only down side is my final row (above phoneAlert) only has two icons (i.e. is rlToday). I'm thinking about writing a windows service that will update the icons for clock and calandar on it's own so I can use them from within cLaunch and fill all 12 spaces I have for Icons. It's kinda reinventing the wheel since rlToday does a good job at this.

Also does anyone know of a way around rlToday taking up the entire row?

1) Start -> Settitngs -> Today
go to "Items" tab and uncheck everything but cLaunch (and phoneAlert if you're using it).

2)
In cLaunch go into the settings and click "Options" under the "System" tab change your cLaunch height (I'm using 145px on a QVGA screen, but I have rlToday running under cLaunch for Clock and Date).

P.S. the scroll bars are because the screen doesn't have enough pixels for the configuration you've set it to.

I deleted the line between the image and background in the skn file, ans it still don't work. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks penguin

I think mine worked when I copied the file up one directory to the same level as the skin. I also performed a soft reset and then everything was honky dory.

This is more like iht. Thanks

I wanted to take a moment to provide a brief update.

I tried renaming my carbon fiber file to cf.png, but it still wouldn't put it in the background, what do you mean when you also say that you changed the .skn accordingly and then it started working? what do I need to do to the .skn file? Thanks

in my skn file, there was a single apostrophe in front of Image_Background. I removed that and it worked.

This is a part of my skn. I have the same problem as others, and I've removed all tabs from the file, renamed the image, tried changing the file location and even taken away the ' at the beginning of the Image_Background line (which i don't think would've worked)

Any other ideas?

Hey I just wanted to say thanks for those that posted tips on how to get everything working. I have just about everything perfect except, I am using magic button to close the programs that I have running and when I have magic button open, the top bar still appears blue even after doing the reg edits for the allblack theme. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Thanks in advance

Hello!

The skin in really nice. But I have one problem: I use vbar as a task switcher. The background color of vbar is still blue, even though everything else is black. How can I change this?

The same blue color appears when I start the communication manager or the telephone appclication. I could not find a way to change this to black.

Cheers,

Eriol

Hello!

I am using phonealarm and claunch as today plugins on my HTC Wizard (O2). I want the claunch icons in the top and phone alarm icons on the bottom of the screen, but I don't know how to do this. Right now, phonealarm icons are on top and claunch icons are below.

Any hints? I also have the comm manager button of the phone far below, even though the device has got a hardware key to start the comm manager. But I do not know how to hide this button ...

Thanks!

RTFM!?!? You can select the position of your plugins in: Settings -> Today -> Items...

@Eriol
You can also use a background image. Since the color selecting doesn't work with vBar. You might take a look at pBar on this forum. The best IMHO :-D

I tried allblack.tsk on my X51v and the bars goes grey.
the wallpaper messed likely GPU crash when apply this tsk.

Anyone tried on another VGA WM5 ??

OK... i've found new BlackVGA.tsk that work for my X51v

It give me black background but Grey Softkey+Start,

So I apply those 2 binary keys to my registry using Resco's.
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\BlackVGA.tsk\Color_S oftkeyFlatCenter
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\BlackVGA.tsk\Color_T itleFlatCenter
give them 00 00 00 00

but after soft-reset those two disappear.......

Why ????Did you switch the unit off with the power switch, wait about 30 seconds then perform the soft reset? - or simply press and hold the power switch for while, when asked do you want to turn off the device answer yes - Mike

The values Color_SoftkeyFlatCenter and Color_TitleFlatCenter should not exist, so you will need to create them.

Note: You will only get the "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\allBlack.tsk\" when you use this theme. If you are using other theme, you will get "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\xxx.tsk\" where "xxx" if the name of the theme you use.

Can you please be more specific cause i didn't understand how i'm supposed to do it, the directory u described is it on my phone "HKCU\Software....", and where do i type the "binary" and give it the value "00 00 00 00", sorry to bother you, thx.

The changes that you need to make are in your device's registry, not in a folder on your device. The registry is where device and program settings are saved on your device, and it is not accessible through the file system.

To make the required changes, I recommend a program like Resco Explorer 2005 (http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/default.asp). You can download a free evaluation from their web site.

Once you have installed the program, run it on your device, and the required changes will make more sense. You can navigate the registry similar to how you would navigate the file system. When you make it to the approprate section, you will need to create the two keys as outlined in the instructions. Make sure that you create them as binary keys, and set their value to 00 00 00 00. You will need to soft reset your device after you make the appropriate changes.

I hope that this helps.

My current today screen and links to the software used (no PMs please, all the information is below).

The following two URLs are all you really need - I use this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php) and this (http://www.google.com) to find all the infomation I require (but thanks to vijay555 and Menneisyys for their excellent posts and advice on this site).

My today screen -

I use Phone Alarm (http://www.pocketmax.net/phoneAlarm.html) - with the SWdeluxeII skin (http://www.pocketmax.net/pal_skins.html)

I remove the start bar using VYTodayToggleIIAlpha (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=243211&highlight=today)

My icons are added using cLaunch (http://pachome1.pacific.net.sg/~welic/claunch.html). My user guide can be found here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=289872)

I also have the Treo Photo Contacts plug-in at the bottom of the screen having removed the softkeys using dcinobar (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=970983&highlight=dcinobar.zip#post970983).
(Dummy photo contacts used for this example)

Icon 5 > Comm Manager
Icon 6 > PHM Soft Reset (http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/PowerToys/)

Wisbar Advance 2 - Custom Theme using the default template and images from the Pocket XP Theme. Wisbar Advance 2 is hidden using VYTodayToggleIIAlpha (both settings at 0) and then Phone Alarm has been moved to the top of the extended today theme.

Default SIP - Resco Keyboard Default (http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/keyboard/)

I use the standard 'Windows Default' theme.

In order to get the icons to load within cLaunch I use the following settings:

I had the same issue with my UTStarcom 6700. I searched for awhile and found this (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Registry) web page. You will be interested in the following portions:

Bottom tray icons
Remove the Battery Icon:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\Power]
"ShowIcon"=dword:00000000

Remove the Wireless Manager Icon:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\WirelessMgr]
"Keep"=dword:00000000

The second one is the one you will be most interested in. I had a third icon for screen rotation, but after I found this web site, I kept snooping in my registry and found an entry for it, too. That should remove the icon for you. You will need to perform a soft reset afterwards.

I don't understand all the madness going on about i-phone skin. I start using PocketPC because of the Today screen, with appointments and tasks easy visible. Even new Symbian phones has something look-a-like. I think that most people prefer nice look than usability and I wonder why they buying PocketPC phones instead of "regular" phones?
I do not have many appointments, so I do not need to glance at a screen to see them. If I have an appointment, the device still pops up to indicate that to me. And I still use a lot of third-party applications on the device. I also like how easily and completely it syncs with my PC, as opposed to other mobiles I have seen who only perform a half-hearted attempt at keeping your data synched with your PC. And at the click of a button, I can switch back to a normal Today screen. If anything, I think I am doing exactly the sort of thing that the Pocket PC was made for. If I wanted a device that made me feel like I had to use it the way it shipped, I would have purchased any mobile phone and just lived with it. Instead, I'm taking advantage of the thing this operating system was meant to do. It just shows the flexibility of the device, and that is one of the reasons Apple is clamping down on things so badly. Granted, it will never be exactly like an iPhone, but it comes close, and for what? A few dollars for phoneAlarm and some time invested. And if something else comes out down the road, you can bet that the device will show its flexibility by people coming out with more skins and more applications.

@decknologist: Superb screen, and even better instructions!

Thanks. It has taken me nearly a year to get it how I want it. No doubt, it will be different in a months time. It is stable which is the most important thing. I am trying to find a way of producing my own theme. None of the standard themes work correctly due to the size of my today screen. Vijay555 recommended CETuner but I have not really had opportunity to have a good play. Until then the Windows Default will have to suffice.

I liked the look of vijay's screen, which is where the inspiration came from.

It was only possble with the continued assistance of XDA Devs!!

Here is the software plus some registry edit.

Software:

Remove Start Bar = ToggleStart
Remove Bottom Tray = dcinobar
Bottom Display = PhoneAlarm + Iphone Icons at Bottom ( All Work )
Invisible Display = used cLaunch = Height of 260 ( a plugin suppose to show icons , but you can just have no icons so it can display the theme itself)

Tweaks2k2 = System colors
Since I have everything black

Today Lines = Black
Today Font = Black
Start Button Bar Font = Black
Start Menu Font = Black
Tap and Hold Dots = Black

Registry Edit to remove:

Comm Icon
Battery Icon
Screen Rotation Icon

I use a Start-Up Manager software to load ToggleStart, and DcinoBar softwares whenever i have to reset so that it starts up the same display all the time. Or you can just drop the files in the Startup Windows directory.

The Theme itself , you can go and pick what you like and customize it.
Here is the link for the themes.

Hi guys, what program can i use to change the "start bar"? i see you all have nice skins with different buttons, so again, what program?

Very nice!

How did you manage to get the black background in the second screenshot.
Looks like you use PocketBreeze for your today plugin?

Well its a weak and inferior Windows Smartphone so no Pocket Breeze I cannot take credit for this theme it was created at www.sbsh.net in the forums section, the theme is called iDash.

Apps used:
Facade
Dash Weather
Windows Live Search Beta

You can change the top "Start Bar" with Wisbar Advance 2 from http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/products.php?prod=WisBar+Advance

Some of the skins for Wisbar will also skin the popup notifications.

I've installed the WMP plugin SPBtoplay about 3 times now (twice on the device, once on the card) and I can't get it to work. Do you have to enable it some how? I installed SPBweather and that came up just fine (ended up removing it though). Any ideas?

edit: I just realized this is the wizard forum, and I'm running a hermes (i used the search and this thread came up). That wouldn't have anything to do with the problem though, would it?

How did you get those huge icons in iLauncher? I thought that 64x64 icons were auto-reduced to 32x32 in QVGA...

deviusdragger
5th February 2007, 09:24 PM
well you gotta go into the ilauncher settings and then its under the general settings. then theres an option that says something about "enable true vga mode". you click on it and then you say yes. and then they get all huge :-) . in 32x32 they were just to damn small. it took the fun out of having this program and all the detail of the icons. so i just blew them up and now i like it alot better. ha i just got tired of seeing all that iphone crap on peoples phones. like the icons and all that crap. why would i want my phone to look like something inferior. :-| ....... even thou i might get one....but no where near for full price. but anyways everyone have a good time

My Today Screen is a work in progress. It is based upon hanmin's iPhone efforts, and I cannot thank him enough. That being said, I am using cLaunch for the top icons and phoneAlarm for the bottom icons.

I am using Pocket Secure to lock my mobile, as it allows skinning. Using the iPhone lock screen as a reference, I took it upon myself to rebuild it from scratch, with adjustments made for where Pocket Secure positions its time and date. (If you look closely, you will see that the Clown Fish are in a slightly different position on the screen than in the original iPhone lock screen, due to it being rebuilt from scratch.) I would prefer finding a way to skin the built-in lock screen, but adding the time and date in a similar manner would be difficult or impossible.

I chose to keep the menu bars because VJToggleToday became too unpredictable. Every time I used the keyboard and the display switched to landscape, I would need to run VJToggleToday again. I wanted something consistent, even if the final result is not as clean as it could be.

I will update this post as time allows me to work on the skin. I am also looking into skinnable applications to carry the theme through to the application level. So far, I have found a skinnable calculator and will begin working on skinning that after I finish the lock screen.

All of this being said, I think that I will soon grow bored of this look. I already have sketches and preliminary Photoshop work done for a crisp, clean Windows Mobile UI replacement. At least Microsoft doesn't threaten to loose the lawyers on me for expressing myself in this manner.

Guys,
I am trying to figure out if there is any way to overlap today plugins so that I could have weather panel show only an icon with the temp as in the picture below. I created a skin that only shows the icon and the temp for weatherpanel, but it take up the whole row all the way across. Is there anyway to make it display only in a smaller area? Maybe somehow overlapping it with my launcher programs?

I am using claunch and rlToday to launch things. The picture you see is phtoto shopped to show the effect I want to see. Right now it displays the icon for weather under all my icons and takes up the whole line.

iPhone icons were online here awhile ago. You can find them on google, just try the non-English sites.

phoneAlarm has the myPhone skin, official. (on their site) I've actually changed my myPhone skin since I posted that, so the bottom right hand icon is not displayed.

I hid the tabs in cLaunch (an option is settings) and using Tap empty space to advance. You can replace the tabs with text, which isn't a bad solution, as tapping empty space gets tricky!

dude, you need app that can use TRANSPARENT png's or tga's . bmp IS NOT transparent, so u cant use that format... tga, png, wad operates on tga, pocketage in ex. works with png, 24+8 bpp.

not sure about claunch, though..think u need png's. try to fing on xdadev topic about claunch(that about iphone theme in ex.). there are icons to test idea...

btw, themegenCe is great program, but nothin to do with icons of visual styles of external apps...

< Use Wisbar Advance for Task/App + phone alarm for.As for the icons I made a few and modified some existing ones> For great list of icons visit www.deviantart.com ( fantastic collection). For Icons in Claunch - need to use . bmp 32x32 ( thats the max size supported) with transparent background. In this case if there are transparent areas in your image try and convert the TRANSPARENT areas in your image to RGB - 255,0,255 ( Pink colour). That shud do the trick.Hope this was helpful.

BMP isn't exactly transparent, but alot of programs set 255,0,255 (a bright purple) to represent transparent on a BMP.

As for cLaunch, it only deals with BMP.

I'm using the newest version of Wizbar. I had sworn it off before because of it's terrible performance, but damn it works fantastic now. They've fixed all the slow downs and when it's running, I can't even tell it is. It's very nice!

hi, you use batterystatus option, take the tab "traylaunch", and activate the programs that you want.

Where is the download for the MediaPlayer Today plugin please?

I have found 1 version of it (1.00 build 227.714), but while you can use it to control Audio Manager, it does not function with WMP. Just loads WMP no matter where u tap it.

I do like Audio Manager and would use it except that when wanting to play music by album, it plays the tracks in alphabetical order which is just dumb.

Thanks.

The website had the cab file I needed; just didn't scroll down the page enough to see it. I got what I was wanting on my Today screen now. Thank You! Do you know if there are programs that can execute the "camera" from the Today screen, also? I have room in the tray for more, or can this be searched? Here is my Today screen after installing the extended version of BS.

When you go into the launchtray tab under batt status options, tap on the "..." then navigate to the windows folder, then find "camera.lnk". After you select that, tap on the "add". The camera should be in your launch tray. You can also move it where you want it on the launch tray via the up and down keys in the launchtray options tab.

Sure, go back into the battery status options then launchtray tab. You will see the "phone" in the list. Highlight it then remove the check at the top next to "Active / path to program". you will then see the check next to "phone" disappear. There ya go!

erm, program seems to be old, but trust me, it is powerful tool to make today tabbed, and unique, it is ONLY today plugin wrapper, that moves plugins HORIZONTALLY.
And it is using .png transparent icons, not TGA, as WAD.
Program is free, theres just simple beta protection procedure in it...

but i must say, that WAD rocks...
