Thanks, its an option in Phone Alarm, I dont think its in dbm, I think its just a value from 0 to 100.

If you want the theme to go darker - use this tweak


using a registry editor, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Color, then change 'basehue' to 160. 0 is theoretically darkest hue, but 160 gives almost black it's quite nice

It does work but be warned the value can revert if you change themes ;)

derkie, thanks heaps for the Black today screen. I however had to rename it to ClassicBlack.tsk for the top and bottom bars to change to proper black. In HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today i had a key named ClassicBlack.tsk that had two entries for Color_SoftkeyFlatCenter and Color_SoftkeyFlatCenter. These were both set to a value of 00 00 00 00 which i know is the code for black so i presumed this weas the original name of the today screen you posted and it required the original name to read the registry settings.

Also, heres a screenshot of my today screen using the Classic Black as well as my customised Phone Skin. To get the Black Phone Skin, i installed the Vodafone Dialpad from the FTP site here to get the grey buttons and then replaced Bkgnd_Land.bmp and Bkgnd_Port.bmp with edited black versions of the images in \Windows. I have attached the black bitmaps as well in case anyone else wants to use them.

I now have a completely black phone :D

I presume you are using a WWE ROM set to Dutch Language. (if not just ignore me :wink:)
I have seen other posts that mention the WWE ROM's do not change all text to the selected language as some of the text items are built into the ROM and do not change when a different language is selected. I believe that to have all text in Dutch, you will need to have a Dutch language ROM.

I have only ever used WWE ROM's myself. If i'm incorrect i am sure someone will correct me. :D

You need to adjust the SysColor BLOB. The SysColor BLOB defines another bunch of colors - colors which give you a fair deal of extra power that the regular Color registry keys can't, but are very pervasive as they're used all over the place in a ton of regular controls.

For example, you can change the colors of the little bars used by the signal indicator. Sounds cool, yeah? Unfortunately the -same- color is used for every window background. So you change the little cars to a cool blue.. whoops, all your window backgrounds that are normally white and legible are now blue as well \o/

So editing these is something of a crapshoot. One that lets you easily edit them, at least, is available here:

Just change the "Active Caption" color.

Those who want to do it manually for some ungodly reason, edit the third binary (4 bytes, RR GG BB xx).

Unfortunately, however, even if you set that value to black - it's not going to be a pure black - it's roughly a 30 grey. I've attached a screenshot showing the result. I guess it's as close as you're gonna get without poking at TranCreative for a version where you can specify the color manually; and maybe they can offer WM5 OK/[X] buttons, too ;)

Because you set your "regional settings" to Dutch (Netherlands).

What you should do is goto:
Settings > System > Regional Setting

At the Region tab select: English (United Kingdom)

And if you want your number system to the according to the dutch system then also do the following. Keep in mind that you can set your time and date settings to your own choice, if you prefer them to show a different way you can use those, I prefer these.

At the Number tab set:
* Decimal symbol to: ,
* Digit grouping symbol to: .
* Measurement system: Metric

At the currency tab set:
* Currecny Symbol to the euro sign
* Decimal symbol to: ,
* Digit grouping symbol to: .

At the Time tab set Time style to: HH:mm:ss (for 24 hour clock)

At the Dat tab set:
* Short date to: dd/MM/yy
* Date seperator: /
* Longdate: dd MMMM yyyy

Click on Ok, now you should have english month and day names and a number system which is fully according to the dutch system.

Tweaks2k2 have an option to change the colour... if that helps.

You can get a test copy from their site, works for three uses... Google it, it's a handy app

Looks pretty similar to the wibra black dial pad - find attached, install cab, soft reset and then unzip attachment to \windows and soft reset again ;)

Voila black dialer - landscape changes to follow

When you unzip contents use total commander or gsfinder etc.. that allows over writing of windows files.

Note that they overwrite some of the original dialpad files and if you want the blue one back you need to hard reset or contact me for originals.

In final post will post original blue ones too. ;)

Since I have the black dialpad, I am unable to see the bluetooth headset icon that used to be in the top-right hand side. Is there a way we can change the icon to grey so that it's viewable?

Under Call History, the icons as well as the vertical strip underneath the icons on the left of the names/numbers (dialed/missed/received) are the default blue. I'd like to change them to black if possible. I would take a screenshot to show you, but I don't know how to do so.

Currently Running: Cingular 8125 phone with the ClassicBlack theme.

Also, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the wibra_dial, but it everything changes except the portrait indialers. Any ideas? I've attached some "landscape" files to show you which one I need in portrait... I believe it's 5 of them, the same ones I changed.

Find enclosed all the portrait files finished including pressed. Unzip and add to \windows and soft reset. Landscape next ;)

The above zip has the landscape items you wanted just unzip to \windows and softreset.

Those lines were from the original author on buzzdev.net - i like them

I have a problem installing the icons you provided: the wibra skin installs without any problem, but when trying to copy your files to the windows directory I can't overwrite the old files - seem to be kind of write protected... :?
Is there a trick I missed??

But the problem with the invisible headset icons remains - searched the windows folder, but couldn't find it - I assume it is coded into one of the A2DP-dll-files!? :!:

Hi doctorT, yes if you use total commander or gsfinder the files unzip to windows directory.

As said earliier they overwrite some of the original dial pad files, so if you want the blue one back, you need to hard reset or contact me for the originals.

Yes problem of headset icon - if we could find file, dll, exe could do a res hack to change it. I have done that before.

Please let us know when you find a way to replace the headset icon - thats the only shortcoming of that skin...

Something just came to my mind: all the icons on the titlebar of WM5 will change the colour according to the installed skin without installing new icon-files - isn't it like that?? So maybe it is possible to just change a registry value to show the icons in another colour!?

See what you means doctorT worth a try, but i think it stays black whatever theme/skin you are using. Never liked it black anyhow always hard to see so if we can get it white - will be much better. There could be a registry edit, like there is for the camera fonts - will have a look.

Or if we cant change the color of the headset icon - put a logo where it appears - i use the apple black theme so may put an apple there or have it as an option (or a grey windows logo? suggestions)

Dont really want to make background grey, like it black ;)

I'm glad we have a lot of people wanting the all black theme (personal favorite). Has anyone figured out how to change the missed/dialed/received icons under Call History? Presently the missed icon is a big red circle with the white X, which I wouldn't mind, but the white background is too bright...anyone having that issue? I would prefer "black."

Hi xda guys! I've been exploring the forums fo a while but never had any questions until now.
I'm using the Cingular 8125 with the 2.17 WWE upgrade with iLauncher. My questions is this. Is it possible for me to display the "smart icons" from Pocket MSN that shows when I am signed in and how many unread messages I have. I show the static icons now but I think it would be cool to have the icons update in iLauncher.

derkie, thanks heaps for the Black today screen. I however had to rename it to ClassicBlack.tsk for the top and bottom bars to change to proper black. In HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today i had a key named ClassicBlack.tsk that had two entries for Color_SoftkeyFlatCenter and Color_SoftkeyFlatCenter. These were both set to a value of 00 00 00 00 which i know is the code for black so i presumed this weas the original name of the today screen you posted and it required the original name to read the registry settings.

Also, heres a screenshot of my today screen using the Classic Black as well as my customised Phone Skin. To get the Black Phone Skin, i installed the Vodafone Dialpad from the FTP site here to get the grey buttons and then replaced Bkgnd_Land.bmp and Bkgnd_Port.bmp with edited black versions of the images in \Windows. I have attached the black bitmaps as well in case anyone else wants to use them.

I now have a completely black phone :D

Hi you need to overwrite the files with a file explorer on the device - use total commander or gsfinder or resco explorer and then it will allow you to overwrite the files. ;)

Best to install it to device main memory not storage card. Then usually it replaces built in calendar but if not go to settings\today\items and make sure its selected on the item list. You can adjust options of calendar + from here or by pressing for couple of secs on its icon on the today screen.

Thanks for the compliments :) It may be posible with a theme generator to use different pictures for portrait and landscape, could be a little tricky as you will have to crop pictures to specific sizes for the landscape one - try the free themegen ce. You can get landscape pics to work in in at proper size, persist with it it occ crops the picture to portrait size. Any probs post me

I did manage to install the Apple Black and teh Black Media Player ok though.

Is you Icon still with a blue background if you try another theme ? Because if it still blue, I think it could come from the icon itself so you will have to find it on the phone and modify it by yourself.

i took the 2 pics and resize them to 240x320 and 320x240 then i opened up my mobile device on computer and went into the Windows dir on the phone.. now back on the pc i renamed my 2 pictures to stwater_240_320.jpg and stwater_320_240.jpg then copied them into the Windows dir on the phone and overwrote the existing files there and boom 2 different pictures! now if you go to change ur today screen pic on the phone it will erase ur settings for the 2 different pics so you have to select w/e pics u want on ur computer first.. rename them to stwater_240_320.jpg and stwater_320_240.jpg then copy them back to ur device.

Is you Icon still with a blue background if you try another theme ? Because if it still blue, I think it could come from the icon itself so you will have to find it on the phone and modify it by yourself.

You have to unzip the file on the wizard not on the pc with activesync.

I figured out that *.TSK file which is essentially a renamed *.CAB file. It contains the Start Image named stwater.gif, Today image called tdywater.gif and the most important file - *.inf file, this file is the INF which specifies the registry changes. So you can customize that file to make your own changes in registry :)

Microsoft Theme Generator has makecab.exe whish makes tsk file. The Batch file in Theme Generator will then take care of the necessary task of producing the *.TSK file with the use of makecab.exe and CabWiz.exe which will result in a *.TSK file named theme.tsk.

I thought I saw somewhere a today plug in that had a small note-pad area. I got the idea that maybe it allowed you scratch down a quick note and save it for later. Am I crazy or does something like this exist?

Unzip to windows and soft reset.

Just the headset icon problem to solve - any suggestions gladly received

Remember you'll need to do hard reset to get original blue dialer back.

I will sort a fix for this when i have put together in a zip old blue dialer.

I just upgraded to the 2.24 T-Mo ROM but this skin will not work on the device. It installs and reboots as per the cab but the phone app still looks the same. Any ideas? I love this black dial pad skin, the default T-Mo skin is ghastly

I think this is the file that I've downloaded from the 4rum n I still have the same problems: Always display the date plugin (althought disabled); Missing time diplay (8:0 instead of 8:04) n no date line with time line. I'm using O2 Neo, Dopod ROM 2.15.13.27 WWE.

Name of skin and program you are using to get it?

The Cascading Menus and entire top bar and lower bar are the result of Wisbar Advance 2 with a Vista theme I found in their forums: http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/products.php?prod=WisBar+Advance

The background is simple black using the ClassicBlack.zip attachment. Unzip and place on the device in My Documents then select from Start > Settings > Today.

The first plug-in with the meters is Resco Explorer with the Compact skin:

The next plug-in is Pocket Weather. The weather maps are a feature of the program where you can add any image on the web you like. Most of the maps are the weather channel except the first which is a local Doppler radar image taken from a local news channel website. The last image is a zoom in of the severe weather alert map from the weather channel. Just happened to be a severe thunderstorm warning at the time of the screenshot (yellow shading):

The phone dialer skin I found here in this forum which I can’t seem to find right now so I attached the file. To install:

- Unzip contents to your desktop

I have added Phone Alarm lite that I abandonded previously because of some issues but this version seems to be running much better. I have replaced the Resco plug-in at the top with this plug-in:
